Loud Noises
Bunny sat polishing his eggs for delivery in a week or so, and as he did the rhythmic beating of a rainstorm opened up in the distance. His warren was closed to the outer elements so it wasn't really a concern, and the sound did tend to relax him.
He sat there a moment more and when a faint rumble echoed through the halls, he flinched ever so slightly. His right ear twitched to follow the sound and he knew he would be in for it.
He refused to go running off somewhere else to wait it out with Easter Sunday so close but he needed to get away from the sound. He settled on the relative sound-proofing of his room.
After taking care of a very large pile of his beauties he settled down to sleep, but the storm was on top of him. No matter how hard he tried he couldn't get away from that dreadful sound. The pounding was so intense he felt his head pound in defiance. Migraine. Yup, it was a migraine.
He decided to pay Sandman a visit. He would go mad if he had to listen to this another moment.
"Hey Mate, how's everything?" He asked as he muddled by the main hall from his tunnel.
Sandy waved with a big smile. Bunny took a moment to wonder how he knew his friend would be visiting, but Sandy probably knew a lot more than anyone would suspect at first. It was a dangerous game to play, underestimating a guardian let alone Sandman.
A question mark appeared above the oldest Guardian's smiling face, and Bunny shook his head.
"Ah, it's spring mate. He's concocted a huge thunderstorm outside my warren and it's giving me a headache." He explained. Sandy nodded. He understood, he had the same problem with lots of sunlight.
As he made his way to the room Sandy kept for him on his island in who-knows-where he knew he was going to be asleep as soon as he made it in the door. Oddly enough he heard a familiar noise in the next room.
That was Jack's room alright, what was the little bugger doing here?
"Jack?" He asked.
"Bunny! Hey, come to join the party?" He asked, stunning the bunny to silence. The boy's head was hanging off the bed. Evidently he was playing cards, but with who?
"I suppose, what're you up to mate?" He asked as he made himself a nice place on the door-frame.
"Well, there's this nasty thunderstorm outside the pole, so I went to Tooth's to get away from that awful racket, but there was one there too! So, we both came to see if maybe Sandy's place was any better and here we are! Wanna join?" He asked.
"Sure mate." He sat down, "What're we playin' and where's Tooth?" He asked.
"Well, this is go-fish, and Tooth went to get food." He explained. Bunny nodded and noted the slight tenseness in the young guardian's shoulders that he was almost certain he emulated.
When Tooth came back she sported a huge tray of cookies and a pitcher of milk, with glasses. She split a huge grin when she saw Bunny.
"Hey! Don't tell me, it's storming at the Warren too?" She asked in shock. He nodded.
"Right it is mate. Annoying too." He commented, but that was the end of it. "Alright, so who goes first?" He asked.
"Tooth, I dealt clockwise and she's on my left." Jack explained. They nodded.
About ten games and a tray of cookies later he was beginning to let his mind wander. He lost focus and just about fell asleep on Tooth, which would have been unfortunate. She and Jack half-drug half-led him to his room and they continued their match.
Once curled up in his bed he had a thought. North was the only one NOT here, so he must legitimately be louder than the thunder. That thought would have made him laugh if he were awake enough.
As it was he had dreams about North fighting a thunderbolt in a belching contest and beating it out. Repeatedly.
I know this one's short, but the image wouldn't leave my head. Thanks for listening!
