Clare's POV
"Everyone, make sure to check your emails and the syllabus for tonight's assignment. Remember, Wednesday, your papers are due." Ms. Dawes calls to us as she dismisses us.
I quickly packed up all of my stuff, before leaving the lecture hall. I needed to catch the next train in about five minutes or I would be late to my internship. I arrived on time to catch the train, and spent the next twenty minutes on it. I made it to the stop I needed with five minutes to get to the Core. Which is perfect because the Core was just two blocks down from where I was.
I walked quickly and made it upstairs and into the Core's main floor on time. I walked over and put my stuff down at my desk, and saw that there was a stack of papers with a note from Jesse saying to get to work right away, and whatever I didn't finish I would do tomorrow. I glanced over at Ellie and we made eye contact. I smiled briefly before settling into my desk and getting to work.
I spent the entire hour and a half working on the stack. I hadn't seen Jesse the entire time, not even in his office. I assumed he was out of the office for the night. Maybe on an assignment? I wasn't sure. I didn't talk to anyone, not even Ellie, and just worked the entire time. I wanted to get as much done as I could during the little time I was here today. Considering, I was only here for an hour and a half, I wasn't able to get much done. But I was faster than last Friday. So I was okay with it.
"Hey. Want to go out to this coffee place down the street? To celebrate your first official day?" Ellie asked, walking up to me as I was finishing up an article.
"Sure. Let me just give these to Jesse." I said, picking up the stack of papers that I had finished. I walked into Jesse's office, but he wasn't there, so I just put them on his desk, and left him a note on them that I was done and I would finish the rest tomorrow and that I was heading out for the night.
"Ready?" She asked.
"Let's go." I smiled, putting my laptop into my bag and following her out of the office.
