Saturday morning, Jade and Beck arrived to the Doctor's Office for Jade's appointment. Beck's mother came along too. Jenny met them there in the parking lot.
Carolyn: Isn't this exciting?
Jenny: Yes.
Carolyn: Beck, Jade, you two don't look excited.
Beck: We are mom, we're just, tired.
Beck sat with Jade leaning on him in her seat next to him.
Beck: We went to bed kinda late.
A nurse walked into the waiting room she read off a clipboard.
Nurse: Jade West?
Beck: That's us.
Beck stood up with Jade, holding her hand. A nurse led them out of the waiting room, Beck's mother and Jenny followed behind. The group was led into a room.
Nurse: Doctor Jowdy should be here shortly.
Beck: Okay, thanks.
Nurse: You're welcome.
The nurse smiled as she walked away out the room closing the door.
Jenny: Well, this is it. Are you nervous?
Beck: Yeah, I could barely sleep last night.
Beck stood next to Jade holding her hand, she was sitting on the table.
Carolyn: I can't believe this is actually happening. My first grandchild.
Jade: Sorry Mrs. Oliver, I didn't mean to cause any trouble.
Carolyn: Jade, there's no need for you to apologize, it's not your fault.
Beck's mother smiled at Jade.
Carolyn: I wish you two could have waited a few years but, it's okay.
Beck: Thanks for your support mom.
Carolyn: I'll do anything for my children.
Beck and his mother shared a hug, as the door opened.
Dr. Jowdy: Hello, I'm Doctor Jowdy.
The doctor politely shook everyone's hands.
Dr. Jowdy: I'll be your obstetrician.
The doctor sat down in a chair in front of Jade.
Dr. Jowdy: For the next nine months I'll be getting to know you and your baby.
Jade: I'm Jade.
Beck: And I'm Beck.
Dr. Jowdy: Is this your first baby?
Jade nervously nodded.
Dr. Jowdy: Not to worry, I'll keep you and your baby on good health.
The doctor looked down to her clipboard.
Dr. Jowdy: Since your last period and sexual activity, you're about, nine weeks.
Carolyn: Nine weeks? We should have been here sooner.
Dr. Jowdy: This is your first visit, not much to do but ask questions.
Jade: Okay.
Dr. Jowdy: How's your morning sickness?
Jade: Terrible.
Dr. Jowdy: When does it start?
Jade: At about six and lasts until eleven.
The doctor nodded writing on her clipboard.
Dr. Jowdy: Do any smells bother you?
Jade: Yes. Seafood, chicken, coffee, and Beck's cologne.
The three women in the room laughed.
Beck: Yeah, I stopped wearing it.
Dr. Jowdy: Any weird cravings?
Jade: No.
Beck: Yes, yesterday she ate pickles with peanut butter.
Jade glared at Beck.
Jade: It was just a quick snack.
Dr. Jowdy: How frequent do you urinate?
Jade: Very frequently, it's actually embarrassing.
Dr. Jowdy: Do you have any questions for me?
Beck: Yeah. How can I survive her violent mood swings?
Dr. Jowdy: (chuckles) Keep her happy, don't piss her off.
Jade: I don't have much of an appetite.
Dr. Jowdy: That's normal this early in some pregnancies.
Jade: Why am I gaining weight? I gained four pounds since last week.
Dr. Jowdy: You're retaining water, it's all normal.
Jenny: See Jade, I told you. Nothing to worry about.
Dr. Jowdy: At nine weeks you're eligible for your first ultrasound.
Carolyn: (gasps) We would love to see a ultrasound.
Dr. Jowdy: We can look into the uterus and see the growing fetus.
Jade shook her head.
Jade: No, I don't want to.
Carolyn: Why, Jade?
Jade: I'm tired. I don't want to be here any longer than I have to be.
Dr. Jowdy: It won't take long.
Jade: No, I don't want to see.
Dr. Jowdy: Okay, but, you do need three ultrasounds with me throughout your pregnancy.
Jade: Maybe next time.
Carolyn: It won't take long dear, don't you want to see what it looks like?
Beck: Mom, Jade doesn't want to do it today, okay?
Carolyn: Okay, but I'm coming on your next visit.
Dr. Jowdy: I just need to do a blood and urine test and you'll be on your way out.
Jade: Good because I really do need to use the restroom.
After Jade did her urine test, the doctor was preparing to draw her blood.
Dr. Jowdy: Some women freak out but it's not going to hurt.
Jade: I'm not afraid of some blood test, I enjoy these things.
After the doctor took some of Jade's blood, the group was preparing to leave.
Dr. Jowdy: You can schedule your next appointment at the front desk.
Beck: Okay, thanks.
Dr. Jowdy: No problem. I look forward to working with you.

Later that evening:
Beck's parents were out for the night. Beck sat in his kitchen frustrated as he tried doing homework. Jade was cooking dinner for the two of them.
Beck: I'm ready to give up.
Jade: What?
Jade walked away from the stove and over to Beck she wrapped her arms around him looking at his laptop.
Beck: I have less than two weeks to write and direct my short film.
Jade: So, what's the problem?
Beck: I don't know what to write about.
Jade: Calm down. First, think of a theme.
Beck: I'm not a writer like you, I can't come up with these things.
Jade: It's not too hard Beck, just think.
Jade walked away back to the stove checking the food.
Beck: Why did I ever take this class?
Ben: Mom! Dad!
Jade and Beck heard a door slam.
Jade: Ugh, he's back already?
Ben walked into the kitchen, Jade and Beck sighed.
Ben: Where's mom and dad?
Beck: They went out for dinner and a movie.
Ben: Something smells good, I'm starving.
Jade: Well that's too bad.
Ben: You can't just cook and not share with the household.
Beck: I bought two steaks, and two potatoes.
Jade: And I would never cook for you.
Ben: I don't want it anyway. You probably poisoned it.
Beck: Whatever Ben.
Jade: Mmm, steak and baked potatoes. Your favorite.
Ben: I'll just order a pizza, and I'm not sharing.
Jade: I don't want your disgusting pizza.
Ben: Fine!
Jade: Fine!
Ben walked away out the kitchen.
Beck: Must you two argue like children?
Jade: He started it.
Beck: It is good inspiration for my short film, though.

A few days later, Tuesday afternoon, Beck sat bored in class, writing notes as his teacher lectured.
Meredith: Hey Beck, can I borrow a pencil?
Beck looked up from writing.
Beck: Uh, yeah, sure.
Beck turned handing a pencil over to Meredith. She smiled bright.
Meredith: Thanks.
Beck: You can keep it if you want.
Meredith: Only if you want me to.
Beck turned back around facing forward.
Meredith: Hey guys, look at the pencil Beck gave to me.
Beck heard gasps and giggling from the girls sitting behind him. He rolled his eyes writing into his notebook. He felt his phone vibrating in his pocket, he took it out looking at it. Noticing the familiar name, he raised his hand.
Ms. Turner: Question, Beck?
Beck: Can I go to the bathroom.
Ms. Turner: Go ahead.
Beck stood up from his seat, leaving the room. He walked further down the hall before answering his phone.
Beck: Hello?
Dr. Jowdy: Hi, this is Doctor Jowdy, I'm calling for Miss Jade West.
Beck: Hi, this is Beck. Jade's not with me right now.
Dr. Jowdy: Hello Beck, I was calling to ask for Jade to come in today.
Beck: Why? I thought her next appointment wasn't until next month.
Dr. Jowdy: Her blood test results are in and I need to do an urgent ultrasound.
Beck: Why? Is something wrong?
Dr. Jowdy: I'm not allowed to say without Jade present. Can you bring her in today?
Beck: Yes, sure, we'll be there after school.
Dr. Jowdy: Thanks. See you then.

A/N: Some user left a review on BLYL telling me that the format I write in is awful, and that I shouldn't write in this format. But the truth is, I don't care. I write in this format to make it easier for my readers to read. I pm'd the user defending myself and they said I will get my feelings hurt writing like this for a career. I know how to write in different formats, also, I study screenwriting in school. Scripts. I know what I am doing. Sorry if anyone has a problem with my style of writing but I don't care.
