Chapter Ten: I've Got Places.

The whole afternoon was spent with Edward with our pants on; our hands were still all over each other, but for different reasons. The recent buzz of our sexual explorations had simmered down and it was time to learn some real dancing. I had stepped on Edward's bare feet more than a dozen times, my hands were icy cold and numb from being held above my heart for too long. Edward was growing slightly impatient, his eyebrows furrowed and his lips becoming thinner and thinner as the afternoon progressed.

"Alright, alright." Edward said as he pushed off from me, his hands up in defense. "Let's try something different." Edward sat down Indian style and instructed me to do the same as him. I sat down and crossed my legs Indian style looking at him for further instruction. "I want you to close your eyes and put your index finger and middle finger into the palm of your other hand. Now use those as your acting feet and follow the foot movement to this song and the dance I was teaching you."

I felt silly doing this- like a child playing games with their fingers behind a desk so that they were entertained in their class. I did as he asked, closing my eyes and thinking of the foot movement that went along with the dance. I felt my fingers falter, but not in the way that my actual feet did when dancing. With my eyes closed it was easier to think about the counting, about the placement.

"See, you're doing a good job!" Edward praised.

"Easy when I'm not endangering your feet," I sighed.

"It's going to take time, Bella," Edward reminded lightly. He began to dress in front of me, his nimble fingers buttoning up a dress shirt. I pushed myself off of the floor and grabbed my white tennis shoes. Dinner time must be nearing because he wasn't trying to get rid of me, but he was prompting to go to the dining hall without being rude.

"Dinner?" I asked as I started near the door.

"Are you going to join my family and me?" Edward's question sounded loaded and slightly heavy.

"No, I'm going to eat with my parents, I'm sure they've got a lot of questions for me." I said shrugging. Edward smiled and nodded his head and smiled.

"Shall we meet up tonight?" Edward asked.

"Well sure, what are we going to do?" I asked smiling.

"More dancing, more drinking." Edward shrugged smiling. I smiled too. Maybe I wasn't making the best choices, but I was having fun. Edward was teaching me how to be a fun teenager, and I knew that he wouldn't get me into any real trouble. He was into anything terrible he was just into having fun. Some drinking and being careful and responsible wasn't terrible, even if it was against the law. My father would probably have a massive coronary if he found out what I was doing with Edward, especially if he knew everything I was doing with Edward. It was hard, though, to do what I knew was right and what I knew I wanted.

Last night Alice and Rosalie were surprised by my actions and how I had become someone I wasn't. I wanted to be like them, I always have, but I've always been conflicted with a sort of morality that caused me to try and be good. I reached for the door and looked over my shoulder to see Edward not far behind me.

"I'll see you later," I smiled and walked out of his cabin, in a hurry to get down the stairs and talk to my sister and best friend. I heard Edward laugh behind me at my sudden burst of energy I gained upon leaving his cabin. I ran down the endless flights of stairs, barely catching myself before I went head long into the landing. I laughed breathlessly at myself. I saw Rosalie's shining blonde hair and Alice's black glistening hair nearing the edge of landing, they were both smiling like fools, as I'm sure I was as well.

"I have so much to tell you," I gasped at them, holding both of their hands.

"So do we, but we've got to save it for later," Rosalie smiled pulling my hand to the dining hall. "We don't even have time to change," she finished.

Alice, Rosalie, and I walked into the already crowded dining hall holding each-others hands. Our parents peered curiously at us as we neared the table. Mike Newton was by my father's side, sitting at the table, in my seat. I swallowed bile that welled up in my throat and threatened to come out. Rosalie peered at me, her perfect eyebrows furrowed in confusion. I shrugged and looked over to the table I knew would be occupying Edward. Edward sat with his parents, along with Jasper and Emmett joining their meal.

"Girls, there you are," Renee said smiling up at us. "We were afraid you weren't coming and you had gotten lost during your lessons," Mother laughed.

"Lost track of time," Rosalie lied smoothly.

"Mike here was just telling me how his parents came by for the week to check up on how everyone was enjoying themselves. I told him, I haven't seen our girls so focused on the new activities and lessons offered." My father smiled proudly at us and then at Mike.

"Yes, the new selections your parents and the Cullen's have provided are very interesting to a young group of adults such as ourselves," Rosalie smiled as sweet as sugar. Rosalie was taking point instead of me. I think she knew I was too aggravated to talk.

"Yes, well," Mike stood up and pulled the seat out for me. I sat down in my seat reflexively and ignored Mike's gentlemanly gesture I was sure was only out of respect for the façade he put on. "I should be getting back to my parents, have a wonderful meal," Mike said before he walked away.

"Isabella, that was rude," Dad chastised me.

"I'm sorry, I was just a little out of sorts," I lied smoother than I thought I would.

"And why would that be?" Mrs. Brandon asked smiling over at me. She was intuitive, she knew that Alice had gotten somewhere with Jasper, and she must have known the same about me and Rosalie as well.

"Just a lot going on today, I suppose." I shrugged as I reached for the glass of water in front of my spot.

Dinner was served quickly. Roasted beef to a nice medium rare, honey drizzled cooked carrots, and mashed potatoes. I ate quietly as Charles and Mr. Brandon talked about their golfing experience here. Rosalie and Alice ate quietly, just like I did, and took long pulls of water as I did. They knew we had a party to go to, and we should stay hydrated as much as possible. Our mothers went on about their Spa day and how relaxing it was, and how us girls should consider getting the hot rock massage that was offered.

"That sounds painful," Mr. Brandon commented.

"It's rather wonderful. They place a hot rock along your spine and it just warms your whole body in a spiritual kind of way," Mrs. Brandon wiggled in her chair.

"It is summer, why would you want your body warmed?" Mr. Brandon shook his head in confusion.

"So what are you ladies doing tonight?" My father asked as he hastily dipped his roast beef in the mashed potatoes.

"Well, Mr. Jasper Whitlock is doing a night time walk along the pathways. He said we're going to be able to see Mercury tonight if we're able to get a clear look at the stars," Alice said smiling. "Isn't that exciting?"

"I thought that Jasper boy was a history buff," Mr. Brandon's eyebrows furrowed and his eyes narrowed.

"Of course he is daddy, but can't a person take a few astrology classes, too?" Alice rolled her eyes and laughed. "Besides, apparently a lot of the kids around here are going," Alice shrugged.

"What do you mean 'a lot of the kids around here'? There are only a hand full here, including you three." My father grumbled. Great, now my father was suspicious.

"A lot of the staff here are our age," Rosalie pointed out.

"The staff is able to go on these things?" Mrs. Brandon asked politely.

"If it doesn't interfere with their work then yes. I have one of our waitresses in my Volleyball lessons," Rosalie shrugged.

"Well I think that is wonderful! They deserve some fun around here, too. They work hard." Mrs. Brandon smiled as she sipped at her glass of Chardonnay.

"Speaking of which, there is a social after dinner tonight, girls. A social for all of the resort to come and socialize with everyone, and we expect you're all three coming before your night walk or star gazing," my mother gave each of us a pointed look. Mrs. Brandon, my father, and Mr. Brandon all nodded in agreeance.

"What sort of social?" Alice asked casually as her spoon played with the orange sorbet in front of her.

"A dance of sorts," Mrs. Brandon said off handedly as she dipped her own spoon into the lime sorbet in front of her.

Once we all got back to the cabin we almost burst at the seams trying to tell each other about what we spent the whole day doing. Rosalie's face was pure red, almost matching her lipstick, Alice's face was bright pink, and I could probably describe mine without seeing it as tomato red.

"What did you and Emmett do?" Alice asked tentatively perched on the side of my bed.

"Well, we worked on my stance for water skiing. He thinks I'll be ready by Wednesday to get out onto the lake. And then we got to talking about how I've never seen anything beyond the dining hall of theirs, so he took me on a rather extensive walk around the staff's area. Including his room…" Rosalie paused and looked up through her lashes. "He and I talked for a while, but then somehow we were kissing, and his hands were careful, but mine slipped under his shirt and…" Rosalie paused again licking her lips. "We fooled around a lot." Rosalie whispered.

"Did you do it?" Alice asked in a whisper.

"No! We just ya know, touched each other and stuff." Rosalie smiled.

"Did you have an orgasm?!" I asked excited for my big sister.

"Yes, and it was amazing." Rosalie squirmed as she pulled out a dark green dress.

"Okay, your turn, Alice." I said as I walked over and grabbed the dark black dress Rosalie wore last night and smiled at a scowling Rosalie.

"Jasper and I talked a lot, and then we found some beautiful blossoming flower beds, and let's just say, I blossomed like those pink flowers." Alice smiled. She described it so well, but also very vague. She saw things more on a spiritual level with people, and from the sounds of it, it was a very spiritual experience with Jasper.

"Did you guys have sex or just fool around?" Rosalie asked raising an eyebrow. Rosalie didn't like vague descriptions the way I did. I knew it was just Alice's artistic way, the way a writer would explain something, but Rosalie saw it as hedging.

"We fooled around, a lot. It almost turned into sex… Mostly because I wanted to, but he said he couldn't rightly deflower me in a flower bed. Although, I thought the notion was rather romantic. But we fooled around and we both got to achieve an O." Alice shrugged nonchalantly.

"Oh, we were including the men having an orgasm? Because Emmett did, all over my chest," Rosalie made a disgusted face. "Don't get me wrong, I'm glad I could get him to, but it smelled so strange."

"Imagine the taste," I shuddered. The taste was slightly off putting, but I think it was more of the texture in my mouth. The salty substance had a thickness to it, something that would be medicine. I always had a hard time taking medicine as a child, and even more so as an adult if it was in liquid form. "Edward and I fooled around, and he wouldn't take my virginity either," I shrugged.

"We all got to have an orgasm today?" Rosalie smiled proudly.

"I guess so," I laughed quietly to myself. "So what are we doing tonight?" I asked as I slipped on the black number. Alice zipped up the back for me, and turned for me to zip up the back of her peach colored halter dress.

"We are going to go to this stupid social," Rosalie said shrugging on the tasseled shoulders of the hunter green dress. "Then, we are going to change and go on that walk with the boys, and it'll lead us to a bonfire." Rosalie smiled mischievously to me and Alice.

"I've never been to a bonfire," I squealed excitedly.

"None of us have, Bella," Alice laughed like bells.

We fixed our makeup and our hair the best that we could and the best that the humidity could allow. Our hair was heavy with frizz, or at least mine was, and our faces were shining with oils that wouldn't be washed away or taken away from any face makeup. The heat was wearing into the night, just as it was during the day, but today seemed to get hotter as the sun went down. If today was this hot I could only imagine how hot it would be for dance lessons tomorrow. The thought made me sweat even more.

The music was rich, and it was crowded in the west lobby. The outdoors was sticky and warm, but inside it was warm and there was a breeze in the air. The crowed made it hotter than it was outside, though. I could see Edward perfectly. He was standing with Jasper and Emmett, talking lowly to one another. The three of them standing there looked like some sort of Greek Gods. But they were only young men, they weren't gods; but that didn't stop Alice or Rosalie or I, for that matter, from imagining them as such. Father was muttering something about it being 'too damn hot' for a suit and Mr. Brandon fervently agreed with him. Edward slowly walked over to Rosalie, who was waiting for Emmett.

"Rosalie, may I ask you to dance?" Edward smile politely and winked at me. Rosalie looked at him skeptically but watched Emmett approach Alice.

"Alice, may I ask you to dance?" Emmett asked politely.

And that just left me with…. "Bella, may I have this dance?" Jasper called my attention. My brows furrowed with confusion, but I put my hand in his, the first out of the three of us to do so, and walked toward the dance floor with him.

Jasper was about a head taller than Edward, but leaner. His arms felt more like a cage than Edward's arms, but I felt as though that may be because of his knowledge of my falling down. Courtesy of our nature walks. Jasper's eyes showed a lot of sincerity in the slow dance, but a lot of respect, too. He held me professionally, like Edward did when we were practicing. He held me away from him, his arms supportive despite the distance.

"You're getting better," Jasper commented politely.

"Thank you, Edward is a good teacher." I smiled brightly at the strawberry blonde man. He was oddly handsome, but also looked older than he was. Jasper was smarter than people his age, more cautious and aware of people and their intentions. I could tell why Alice gravitated towards him. Jasper was exactly what Alice needed.

"Thank you for this dance," Jasper smiled and bowed his head, walking over to my sister Rosalie and asking for her hand to dance, and before I knew it my hands were in the large, calloused, brawny hands of Emmett.

"I figured asking would just be a little redundant by now," Emmett explained smiling a large smile accompanied with deep dimples at me. I smiled back up at him; he had such a kind face. Despite his strength and brawn, Emmett was surprisingly almost as gentle as Edward and Jasper with his movements.

"You're really light on your feet," I complimented. I heard a booming laugh escape his lips and a large dimpled smile formed on his mouth.

"Why thank you," Emmett smiled down at me. The dance was faster paced than the one I enjoyed with Jasper, but still nice and professional. Emmett's eyes watched Jasper with Rosalie, as though he couldn't trust him. "Is this weird?" Emmett asked kindly. Jasper was quiet during our dance, but his eyes analyzed my body movements and I could tell scanned my face for any sign of anxiety.

"It's a little strange, albeit, I think you're just trying to make us comfortable with you all, since I haven't met much of you or Jasper, and I imagine Edward wants to meet Rosalie and Alice, too." My sentence was long, my lungs were aching for air, and I began to feel red from the babbling. Emmett's large smile greeted his lips and he nodded his head.

"Precisely," he agreed and turned me around on the dance floor until the dance had stopped and I looked to my side and there stood Alice and Edward, and Rosalie and Jasper. "Thank you for the dance, Bella," Emmett smiled and bowed his head as he took two large steps over to Rosalie, whom he instantly embraced. Alice and Jasper did the same, and Edward stood in front of me, and I looked into his deep pools of emerald.

"Hello," his voice sent goosebumps up my spine.

"Hi," I smiled sheepishly, my hand reaching out to his cautiously. I was surprised to find his already reaching toward me. We laced our fingers together and looked into each other's eyes rather embraced. Perhaps that was strange, or perhaps that wasn't the normal thing to do at our age, but it felt right. It felt like that was more intimate than any embrace could have been.

A few dances and an hour later and Rosalie was already starting to get impatient with my father. He didn't want us to leave yet, Mr. and Mrs. Newton hadn't met us. Rosalie's distaste for Mike stemmed from my obvious distaste, and she politely declined the chance to meet who ever spawned Mike. Father wasn't happy, but it was our mother who stepped in and told him that he was being unreasonable. Without another word we walked back to our cabin and changed into presentable, comfortable, and cool clothes so that we weren't dying of heat stroke around a bonfire. I had never been to one of these, having lived in the city, but I did know they made huge fires. I looked at myself up and down, wearing my favorite small Niagara Falls tee shirt and a pair of jean shorts and smiled. I would have to do.
