TOBIAS POV:

I can't take this anymore. Watching my Tris get harrassed and beaten is way too much for me to handle. It reminds me of the time when Peter and Tris were fighting against each other. I just couldn't watch that unjust fight. I glance to my right and see Christina sitting on the floor, her hands covering her face. When I finally get back to Earth I can hear Tris' best friend crying her eyes out. It's a very ugly, unpleasant sound. I nod to Will and he walks over to his girlfriend. I help him get her to her feet.

"How are we going to get out of here?" Lynn asks, sounding defeated.

"We can't kick the door down bro, it's way to strong." Zeke gives me a look of sympathy, but I don't want it. I want Tris, safe and sound. I pat Christina gently on the back and she sniffles, cuddling close to Will's chest. Oh how I wished that was me and my girlfriend right now.

"We'll find a way out!" I declare, my eyes gleaming. "We're going to get out of here, rescue Tris, then beat the absolute shit out of Peter and Alex!" This seems to get everyone in their good spirit. I see Shauna look around the room for an exit.

"The vents!" Christina screams, jumping up and down. "We can get out of the control room with the vents!" A big smile grows on everyone's faces and we all high five. The touch is awkward for me considering I was from Abnegation, but it gets me excited. We're getting out of here. We're getting Tris.

"That's brilliant, Christina!" Zeke and I say. Christina grins wider.

"Who's going to go up first?" I ask. "I personally suggest the smallest person here." Everyone's eyes travel over our group.

"I'd say that's either Christina or Lynn," Will says. Lynn brightens.

"I call out first, bitches!" We all let out a light chuckle. "Now lift me up so I can get in, or I'll beat you to bits!" I nod and walk over to Lynn. I grab her waist and lift her up so she can reach the vent entrance. After about twenty seconds she fiddles with it until the gate falls off and she climbs in.

"Next!" I shout hurriedly. Christina moves toward me.

"Ready?" I ask quietly. She nods and I give her a boost. She quickly manages to get in the vent and impatiently waits with Lynn for the rest of us. They both move back when Will charges from the other end of the control room and leaps inside. Shauna does the same.

"Carry me," Zeke purrs at me, batting his eyes. I roll my own. "Just get your ass in there," I growl. He nods and leaps up. Then, I climb in after him.

"Lynn, you lead the way. Just go until you see somewhere we can exit." She nods curtly and we all start crawling. The closed space makes me extremely nervous. I think of Tris wrapping my arms around her and I breathe out slowly. Come on Tobias. Do it for Tris. Zeke looks at me, confused. He shrugs soon enough and moves on. I follow. Ten awfully cramped minutes later, Lynn finds an exit. It's right by the Pit. We all scramble out, getting strange looks from the people of Dauntless.

"Guys?" Uriah asks. "What the hell are you doing? You've been gone for hours." Marlene, who was holding Uriah's hand, lets go of it and examaines us.

"Peter and Alex locked us in the control room," Shauna growls. Marlene lets out a gasp. "Not to mention they've beat the absolute shit out of Tris until she passed out. We had to watch all of it." I see Uriah's eyes widen in surprise.

"Where is she?" he asks worriedly.

"She's in the old storage room out cold," I reply darkly. "We're on our way to get her. We can't waste any time!"
"We're coming with you!" Marlene cries. Lynn nods and we all start running toward the storage room.

"Does anyone happen to have a key?" Lynn asks with sarcasm.

"Who cares about the damn key?! Let's kick it down!" Zeke shouts. The door is only made out of wood, unlike the metal control room door.

"On three," Marlene says, her eyes narrowed. "One, two... three!" We all dash forward. Right when we make impact, the door crashes down.

"Stay here," I warn. I want to be the one who gets Tris. I see her laying limply with her limbs tied together in the far right corner of the room.

"Tris." My words come out as a whisper. I step forward cautiously. When I reach her, I stroke her bruised cheek with my thumb. I lick my finger and wipe away only a tiny portion of dried blood. It reveals a nasty cut. A slight gasp of pain comes from her open mouth, and I wince. She looked so fragile. How am I going to pick her up without hurting her? I turn my gaze to the ropes around her ankles and wrist. First things first, I guess. I take a side glance at my friends and see them with their eyes wide. I gently start to untie her. A see a single tear roll down her cheek and I wipe it off. I whisper comforting things in her ear, even though I don't think Tris can hear me. I slowly move to pick her up, and I give her a soft kiss on her lips.

"We're going to the infirmary," I murmur, holding her securely in my arms. "We'll help you get better, I promise. Oh my god you don't know how sorry I am for not getting you sooner." I bury my face in the crook of her neck and kiss it gently. Happiness surges through my body when her hands weakly move up to my face, and I am silent. She smiles, her eyes closed. I think she is about to say something but it's too late. As soon as Tris' hand touches my chin, her hand falls, her smile drops, and she completely loses consiousness. Her breaths are shallow. My lips touch Tris's temple. I give my group a signal to file out, and we all break into a run to get my girlfriend medical help.
