(AN: Hey guys, sorry that chapter updates are few and far between! We only have one computer now, so that's not fun. Anyways, this is the start of the next school year. It's following more of an American high school than a Japanese one, but hey, what can ya do.
I'm retconning this a bit. By now, they've been screwing around for 5 months, instead of 6, like I originally said. It just makes the timing more believable.
Anywho, enjoy!)

Kaito felt like a zombie dragging himself to school. One more year, and he'd be out of that place. Just one more year of the stuffy classrooms, one more year of the piles of homework, one more year of the long days. Just. One. More. Year.

The school's "Main 5" would, of course, have it easy. Everyone loved them. And since Kaito was included in that count, he could basically breeze through this year, no questions asked. Miku would get on his ass about it, of course, but at least he knew he couldn't fail. He had it easy.

He was rudely shook out of these thoughts. Literally, someone was shaking him from behind. Turning around, Gumi was standing there, with her doofy looking smile. Kaito, despite being irritated, smiled. There was something about her smile that could get even the Grinch to at least exhale sharply, indicating some form of happiness.

"Mornin', zombie! What are you doing up so early?" Gumi said, walking foward.

"Getting to school," Kaito mumbled, following a few steps behind the bouncy green-haired girl. "As you are, I can tell."

Gumi was wearing a school uniform. In truth, the school didn't have one, but they didn't exactly appreciate her usual style of "show as much boob as she can." Gumi had a special love for that type of clothing, but the school would have a collective heart attack. So, her mother, Lily, made her the special uniform, and Gumi wore a variant of it every weekday. On the weekends, it was fair game for her closet of revealing, admittably cute clothes. She still had her goggles, as if they did anything.

"So, are ya' ready for a year of fun?" Gumi continued on. "I heard Mew's gonna be a teacher."

"Wait, Mew?"

"Yeah! She's gonna be the animal science-slash-biology teacher. Wonder if I'm gonna have her for homeroom…"

The two continued chatting. Kaito didn't add much to the conversation, but he enjoyed Gumi's enthusiasm. It kept him slightly awake.

-

Kaito arrived at the school, and was almost immedietly funnled into a line. When he got to the front, the secretary, Miss Roku, asked for his name, and handed him his schedul. If anything, Miss Ruko looked even more asleep than he was. She had a large mug of coffee with her at all times, and the front office always smelled slightly of coffee.

Kaito got out, and walked to a hallway, then finally read his schedul.

Animal Science, Sakamoto, Mew
Spanish 2, Varga, Clara
Honors Senior English, Ann, Belle
Avanced Vocal, Arakawa, Inori

Kaito sighed at the inclusion of Spanish 2. Truly, some god must be playing a cruel trick on him. He at least liked Mrs. Ann (known as Sweet Ann to the students, because she was always kind). And he knew Mew. Arakawa seemed new, but he had all day to figure out who she was.

He headed to the room that his homeroom was in, and sure enough, Mew was there, hanging up a few posters, mostly breaking down the anatomy of various household pets. She didn't seem to notice Kaito, so he quietly set his things down and looked around.

The Animal Science room was small, for the school's standards. It consisted of about ten two-person desks, five on each side, spaced evenly. The chairs were simple wooden ones. There were sinks placed around the room, as all science rooms were required to have. Mew's desk, along with a large desk with a sink in front of a whiteboard, was in the front. Quite a few awards and college degrees surrounded the walls around Mew's desk. Kaito started walking up when Mew turned around.

"Oh, good morning, Kaito," Mew said, smiling. She was wearing a black woman's business suit, made of silk-like material. Her heels were black, with small microphone charms. Her long hair was tied up in a neat bun (how all that hair could fit into one ponytail holder was anyone's guess), and she was wearing simple reading glasses with a black frame. Kaito silently wondered if Mew owned anything of color in her wardrobe.

"Ah, good morning, Me- I mean Miss Sakamoto," Kaito said.

"You can call me Miss Mew, as the rest of my students are allowed to do," she said, smiling. "I'm glad you'll be in my homeroom."

"I am too, if I'm being totally honest," he said, standing a bit akwardly. "I mean, you are one of four people who… um… y'know…"

"Know about your relationship?"

"Yeah."

"Well, I promise I won't tell. In fact, he won't be in this period with you, so you can at least collect yourself on that matter."

Kaito sighed with relif. He didn't want to have to deal with any of his relationship drama first thing in the morning. And Mew was probably the best secret keeper in the world.

"Take a seat, if you want, but class isn't starting for another thirty minutes."

He walked over to his stuff, and sat back down, pulling out a few notebooks. When he looked back up, he was greeted with cat-yellow eyes staring him down. He jumped a bit.

"Geez, Mayu, could've warned me!" Kaito said.

"Sorry," she replied, although she didn't sound very sorry. "I have a tendency to be quiet."

"Oh, Mayu, I'm glad you're going to be in my homeroom," Mew said, smiling softly. Mayu turned around, smiled wide, and skipped up to Mew, her blonde-to-rainbow hair bouncing along with her.

Kaito smiled. Whatever this year would bring, it was going to be interesting.

(AN: Sorry it feels like all potatos and no meat, but I needed to get this chapter out before 2015. I promise there will be Miku, Gumi, and handjobs in the next chapter, in that order. Thanks for reading, and happy new year!
PS: Mew does have a teaching and vet degree. And Inori is supposed to be IA.)
