Trixie didn't like it but she knew this was something she had to do. She was going to infiltrate the base and find out where they were keeping Jake's and Jesse's father. Spud tried to encourage her. "It's gonna be easy Trix. You just need to go in there, find out where their father is, and they get out of that area when the dragons storm the base."
"I just can't believe I'm going against my own father. He was always so nice to everyone that I never saw this part of him. I know he wouldn't be doing this unless he thought he was doing the right thing. I mean what if he is right? Would turning everyone into dragons really be that bad."
"I don't know what to tell ya Trix. Honestly I think it would be awesome to be a dragon like Jake and Jesse but the others might take it the wrong way. Their grandfather really seems to think that the only way for peace would be to destroy the machine but that might not be the best thing to do. The explosion could destroy everything!"
"I know Spud. Which is why it is up to us to find a better solution. I'm gonna try to talk to my father and ask why he really thinks that turning everyone into dragons is the best thing to do. I'm going to try to stop this war before it begins."
"Good luck Trixie."
Trixie and her mother moved onto the base a few days later. Her room was in a specially made room next to her parent's room. Wasn't as good as her room in New York and still looked more like the military barracks but was still good enough. She was allowed to explore that area of the base as long as she was careful to mess with anything or anyone. She noticed the door to her father's office was cracked open and noticed he was arguing with someone. "Is it really safe to keep him here? I recently moved my family onto the base and yet I still don't want them involved in any of this. Especially my daughter."
"Your daughter is more involved in this than you know. She has not been truthful about her friends to you. The dragon we have locked up in the prison area of the basement if her friend's father which would mean they are dragons as well. I would keep your eyes on her if I were you."
Once Trixie heard that she started walking fast towards the basement. Arthos heard her footsteps with her dragon ears and smiled.
Her father wasn't finished yet. You're just worried because I let her wander around the base by herself. I tought my family how to take care of themselves. They will be fine but I still want you to stay away from them."
"Fine. I have some stuff I need to go take care of. I will talk to you later once I have everything ready."
Trixie meanwhile made it to the basement and noticed there were only a few guards around who grinned when they saw her go near to the interrogation room where Johnathan Long was being held. She looked through the window and saw the light blue dragon sitting in a chair at the center of the room with his eyes closed.
"I wouldn't get to close." Said one of the guards. "He's a dangerous one."
A man then walked up behind her and she noticed he was ranked as a Commander. Commander Brian Shepard spoke up "Don't worry he really isn't that dangerous."
Trixie pretended to be surprised. "So is he really a… dragon?"
"Yes he is. Would you like to go in there and meet him?"
"Uh… sure."
He opened the door and she walked in kind of slowly but he didn't enter himself.
"Uh sir… are you going to come in with me?"
"No its ok. I'll stay right out here but don't worry. I can promise he wont hurt you."
He closed the door and went into the next room on the other side of the one way mirror.
Johnathan already had his eyes open and was looking at her with a surprised and worried look. "Mr Long, is that you?" Trixie asked.
"Trixie? What are you doing here?"
"I have come to help rescue you. The rest of the dragons will be here soon to try to get you out."
"I know and he will be ready for them."
"Who?"
"The man who is working with your father, his name is Zarthos. He is my brother and one behind this whole plan to turn everyone into dragons."
"Why does he want to do that?"
"He believes that the humans were no more than slaves to the dragons and in a way he was right. My people treated the humans as slaves in the past and he hopes to correct our past mistakes and turn everyone into dragons to make us "equal". "
"What if he is right? What if that does bring peace?"
"It is a huge risk. One the rest of us are not willing to make because if something goes wrong it could end up killing everyone on the planet."
"The world is already on the brink of an apocalyptic war. My father's armies are ready for a war against the dragons they try to stop him. I found that out earlier but have not been able to contact Jake or any of the other dragons."
"It's already too late to warn them if they are as close as you say. You need to get your family out of here before the fighting starts because if your father is killed than all hopes for peace with the humans will be lost. You need to convince him that there can still be peace between our races without turning everyone else into dragons as well."
Meanwhile Jesse and Jill had been looking through ancient archives for any info about the machine and found out the truth. Lao Shi and Johnathan Long were lying about the risks of the machine. When interfaced with the medallion it was capable of turning all the humans into dragons without killing them. "Why would he lie about that? If there really is a way for peace with the humans through turning them into dragons as well why does my grandfather not want to do it?!"
"That is something I've been noticing as well Jesse. Your grandfather has never really trusted the humans at all and especially when it came to your father but since he became the leader of the Dragon Order his distrust for them has grown more and more with each passing second. I think that a part of him actually wants this war. He asked me to help with a speech and he talks about bringing back the glory of the ancients. I think he is planning to subjugate the humans like what the Ancient Dragons did in the past."
"I'm going to go confront him about this. He is getting very old and I think what is happening between us and the humans is just too much for him to manage."
Jesse and Jill go to Lao Shi's chambers where he is already talking with Jake. "Aw good. I'm glad you 2 could come. I was just talking with Jake about the next part of the plan to stop the machine from killing…"
"Stow it grandpa." Jesse said angrily before he could finish. "We know you have been lying the whole time about the machine. If the medallion is interfaced with the machine it can turn everyone into dragons. It is the reason the medallion was made by Bahamut in the first place!"
"What do you mean Jesse?!" asked Jake.
"There was a book hidden in the ruins of an ancient library underneath the palace and it tells the story of how Bahamut saw how the humans were being treated by the ancient dragons and how he made the medallion for Zarthos and Johnathan so that they could use it with the machine to turn everyone into dragons. The machine won't kill everyone like you say it will. The ancients just made that up so that they wouldn't lose their power over the humans and it is the same reason you are using for this war that is about to happen. The war you always wanted deep down."
"Be careful with what you say Jesse. You may be my grandson but I am still the leader of the Dragon Order!"
"Not if you're just going to lead us down this path of war for your own personal gains. The Dragon Army will never follow your orders when they know the whole war is based on your lies and that you are willing to lead them to their own destruction because of it."
"That is what I was talking to Jake about before you rudely interrupted. Jake is now in command of the Dragon Army and he will lead the mission to rescue your father from the human military base. We cant let them get away with taking him like that."
"It will be my pleasure." Jake said. "I won't let you down gramps."
"You are crazy! If we do this it will only start a war between us and the humans and it will be devastating for both sides. You've become corrupted by your distrust of the humans to the point where you would rather wipe them out than make peace with them."
"No Jesse. I'm afraid you are the one that has become corrupted. The Dark Dragon has made you believe what he is doing is right when he only wishes to destroy both us and the humans. You are becoming a threat to us and so we will have to lock you away so that you can't do anything to hurt anyone."
Jesse figured out what he was planning but that was not going to happen. "Jill go now!" He then blew a big fireball into his hands and throw it straight up as hard as he could. It hit the ceiling and caused it to collapse blocking off the room so Lao Shi and Jake couldn't immediately give chase.
They both started flying as fast as they could towards the elevator as they heard dragon soldiers shouting behind them telling them to stop. "We need to get out of here and warn General Carter of what he is planning!"
They dodged fireballs launched at them by the dragon soldiers giving chase and made it to the elevator just in time for it to close right before a big fireball landed right next to it. They made lost their pursuers and were able to get to the base without any trouble and the guards let them in once Trixie told her dad who they were.
"What's going on?!" asked General Carter as they sat down in his office.
"Sir his grandfather is planning to attack the base to supposedly rescue his father but we believe he is really planning to kill you. He lied about the machine saying it would kill everyone when it was really Bahamut's plan to use it all along."
"Who?!"
"The one you refer to as God." Jill continued. "He made the machine to bridge the gap in the Human/Dragon relationship in the past but saw how bad the dragons were really treating the humans and made the medallion so it could turn all the humans into dragons so that wouldn't happen anymore."
Zarthos agreed. "She is telling the truth. It was originally Bahamut's plan to turn all the humans into dragons but the ancients opposed the plan and used their own power to stop it which pretty much killed them in the process and only a few survived."
"The boy brought in your medallion as well. Now all we have to do is use it with the machine right?"
"Yes sir but I fear it may be the best thing to do at the moment."
"Why?"
Jesse spoke up. "Because my grandfather is sending an army to wipe out the base and every human in it. We are going to have to fight them off first before being able to move to wherever the machine is."
"Agreed." General Carter looked over at Zarthos. "Get everyone ready to defend the base and free your brother as well. If what they say is true than he might be able to help us."
Down in the prison Brian removed the handcuffs that were around Johnathan's arms. "Why are you letting me go?"
Jesse then walked in. "Because you and grandpa lied about the true purpose of the machine and I am giving you a chance to correct the mistakes you and your father made long ago. You knew the truth this whole time so why did you still oppose it even now?"
"Because a part of me still blames the humans for the destruction of the ancients. If the humans never existed maybe the rest of my family would still be alive. This all never would have happened."
"Well we are a part of your family as well and what grandpa is planning is wrong and he needs to be stopped. He plans to go to war with the humans and make them all slaves just like during the time of the Ancients and we cannot let that happen, not again."
