I got nothing important to say, really. Just to let you readers know that I included my OC that first showed up on the first story/fanfiction I've ever written, into this story. His name would be Nelo and his roll is as Finn's older brother. Don't worry, his part in the story won't be as important as Finn's part. Also, if any of you readers watched the Godfather movie trilogy, y'all might notice that some of the words used in the story are awfully familiar.
Chapter 10: Revelations and Worsening Trouble
It took them a while, but they managed to get rid of the bodies of Donny's henchmen. They also fixed the door and cleaned the place up.
Finn sat next to Marceline on the bed, now looking at a completely clean room. It was already 9 o'clock in the morning on the 8th day of Finn's return. Finn recapped each crazy event that had transpired through the past week. He was brought out of his thoughts when she asked, "So, are ya' gonna tell me the whole story now?". He didn't really think he should talk about something so personal with her. However, seeing as she had a dysfunctional family herself and knowing that she could be trusted, he decided to tell her. "Bene, I will tell you. But only because you can understand how I felt and for that I can trust you, Marcy..." he spoke as he looked down to the floor. She sensed a hint of sadness in his voice, which indicated that the matter was very personal and serious. "See, that day was a day like any other. The only difference was that I wasn't out extorting any businesses. I was in the basement at the Family Compound, scourging for old stuff..." he began. "But then I found a photo of my mother in a box that was marked 'Helen'. I had no idea it was my mother's name because I never knew about her since I was born. After all, my father had never talked about her throughout the 14 years of my life," he continued. He sighed as he laid on the bed, nostalgia in his thoughts. She cuddled up next to him before he continued, "In that box, there were my mother's stuff. I noticed that some of them are missing... And since I can't ask my father about this, I decided I shall ask my brother". "I met my brother and to my surprise, I found out that he wore our mother's locket that was missing from that box. I began asking about her, where she was, how she died and where her grave was..." he added. Marceline raised her head a bit and asked, "And...?". Finn sat up again, this time hiding his face in his palms.
She held his hand again and said, "It's okay... I'm here to listen". "Thanks, Marcy. Anyway, he told me that after I was born in a hospital at Sicily, my mother was killed there. But it wasn't an attack or a hit from any of the rival Families. It was just murder and my brother witnessed it... My father... He killed her! That scumbag killed my mother!" he explained, much to Marceline's shock. "My brother was 3 years old at the time. And the memory had haunted him ever since... No wonder he grew up as a troubled child!" Finn continued. He suddenly stood up and walked to the closet. Without warning, he began punching the closet as hard as he could. "He hid this thing from me, for fourteen years!" he said as he delivered punch after punch in anger and grief. Marceline was shocked and a bit terrified seeing Finn in anger. Once he had stopped, he sat back down on the bed with his fists bleeding. He also cried in grief as his tears and blood began to soak the bedsheets. Marceline truly couldn't believe what he said. "What type of crazy fuckin' husband kills his own wife?!" she thought to herself. She didn't believe that there would be any people like that in this world, but she was proven wrong today. She sat next to him, not caring that his blood and tears could stain her dark violet dress. "Finn, what did you do when you found out?" she began, sounding very concerned. "I did exactly like what I did just now... I lashed out at my father, without thinking of the consequences. My brother attempted to stop me, but I didn't listen!" he explained. "I confronted him about this and in the end, I decided to leave the Family..." he continued, much to her confusion.
"Whoa! What?! You simply left the Family? You can do that?!" she asked. He scratched the back of his head and explained, "Well, technically no. The only way to leave the Family is to die or under the Don's permission... But since I could be next in line to be the Don, my father would never allow me to leave unless I die...". She was really curious as to how he could survive after leaving the Albatross Family. "Okay, in the end, my father did allow me to leave the Family, but I must also leave New York. I left New York and decided to visit my mother's grave in Sicily... And so here I am, 4 years later," he ended his story. She was completely amazed at how great of a person he was and how terrible his past were. Finn sighed and stood up before saying, "I'm gonna go change. I got work today...". She also stood up and went to the bathroom to freshen up. That had been a fateful day indeed. The Family hadn't bothered them for quite a while and they haven't been so busy lately. They also haven't been out at night for 3 days by now.
"I'm off to work, Marcy!" he said to her. "Sì, but I'm comin' with you today...". He was momentarily confused at that statement. "I wanna see how are you at taking care of kids... Y'know, just in case we could have any..." she spoke as she walked to the bathroom. Finn was again momentarily stunned but agreed nonetheless. She took 30 minutes to get ready and another 15 minutes to drive there in her car. However, Finn was in complete shock at the sight of the daycare centre.
The two single-storey buildings that used to provide a safe haven for children was on fire. The children themselves were running out of there, with Tree Trunks following suit. Firemen and policemen were there trying to put out the fire and get the people out safely. Many civilians began crowding the area. Finn wasted no time and rushed towards the children with Marceline. "Tree Trunks! What happened here?" he asked. Tree Trunks, still trying to calm the children, stuttered, "It was... There were... Those men...". "What men? Who?!" he asked again. Tree Trunks would've answered but at the moment, Lana had escaped safely out of the fire and returned to her twin sister. "Ow! It's Fang and Emily! They're both still in there!" Lana spoke as she groaned in pain. Finn looked at the burning building before saying, "Marcy, keep an eye on them... I'll be back!". He quickly ran into the building through the fires and flames. The parts of his shirt were burnt as he reached a room where Fang was helping Emily. She was trapped in a closet. Lucky for her, the closet door was able to be broken by Fang and they managed to escape the room. Finn led them to the entrance, but it collapsed before they could get to it. Fang had given Emily the hoodie he wore so she wouldn't get burnt. Finn led them to another room, where they planned to escape through the window. He broke the window with a kick but as that happened, a part of the burning roof collapsed on Fang. "Shit! Glob dammit!" he cursed. "Just get outta here!" Fang yelled. The little girl wanted to help, but Finn lifted her and got her outta the building first. She ran back to her other friends, crying in fear.
Meanwhile, Finn was lifting the rubble off of Fang. It was a good thing that Fang could withstand the pain of being crushed. The burns on his hands and body were nothing to him. He and Finn managed to escape, without being severely burnt. With that, Tree Trunks and her husband along with Finn and Marceline brought the children to the garage of a nearby Abadeer gift shop. Marceline told the guards to leave their posts and she provided the first aid kits for treating the children's burns. Finn wanted to know about the men who attacked the daycare centre, so he decided to ask the twins considering that Tree Trunks was still traumatized. However, Finn was in for one heck of a shock.
