Chapter 10: The Rumors

Loki felt uneasy going to school the next day. Though he usually enjoyed the fact that the other students left him alone, this was a new loneliness that he never felt before. As he walked through the crowded hallways, he could hear the others whispering as he passed them by.

The raven haired teen gripped the straps of his bag. He made a bee line to his locker. In his peripheral, he noticed the gangly figure of Bruce Banner leaning against the locker beside him. Loki pursed his lips and looked at him.

"I don't have time to talk right now, Banner."

"You need to talk about what...caused Steve to fly off the handle like that. You were the last to speak with him," Bruce said, just before the other shut his locker.

Emerald eyes shot a glare at him. Bruce put a hand on his shoulder. He knew that Loki needed his space. The first bell of the day rang and bother teenagers headed to their respective classes.

The dark haired teen slumped down in his seat at the back of the classroom. He felt uncomfortable when his classmates continued their whispering. Occasionally he would hear Steve's name or Fandral's. The latter was beginning to make the small teen cringe on the inside.

Loki studied his desk for the most of the class; letting his head hang low. He would've like to run from the school, but he knew that Odin would deal an awful punishment if he did. He plunged himself so far in his thoughts that he couldn't even hear the bell that ended the period ring.

He jumped slightly when he felt hands on his shoulders. Pulling himself out of his thoughts, Loki looked up to see Fandral hovering over him. Blue eyes were cutting daggers into his soul. The small teen felt the blond pull him up into a standing position.

"You know what? I didn't appreciate you telling Steve about what happened between us. If you tell anyone else, I'll make sure you get raped again," he hissed loudly into Loki's ear before he walked away.

Loki felt his knees go numb shortly before he dropped to the group. In the pit of his stomach, he began to feel sick. All of the color in his face began to drain as he headed out of the classroom. His knuckles were beginning to turn white while he gripped the strap of his bag.

He hovered for a moment at the door of his next class. He took a deep breath to try to calm his breath. The teenager jumped slightly when the tardy bell rung. As he stepped into the classroom, he was immediately turned away by the teacher. In the back of his mind, Loki was glad. He was glad that for a few more minutes, he wouldn't have to deal with the other students incessant talking.

As the day progressed, Loki found his mind wandering what Steve had done during the school day. His dark eyebrows furrowed slightly when he stepped out of the school building at the end of the day. His eyes happened to glance across the street to see Steve's well built physique. Loki's bottom lip got caught between his teeth before he headed across the street.

"What are you doing here?" the smaller teen asked him.

"Football practice is going on today, so you won't have a ride. Am I correct?" Steve asked in return; a small smile placing itself on his face.

"I can easily walk."

Steve raised an eyebrow before saying, "Listen Fandral's going to be after you. I don't want you to be alone when that happens."

Loki rolled his emerald eyes slightly. A sigh escaped his thin lips before he finally agreed to let Steve walk him home. The two teenagers were halfway into the walk to Loki's home before a word was uttered.

"Why did you tell me about your incident with Fandral?" Steve asked.

"I don't know. It seemed right, y'know?" the shorted teen said as he looked at the ground.

All the blond teen did was nod. He didn't need anymore from the other. It was something that he had to get off his chest. Steve knew far too well how it felt to have that weight crushing his insides.

"It was hard for you to tell me. Wasn't it?"

"What's with so many questions?" Loki asked, finally looking at Steve.

"Just friendly conversation."

A scowl placed itself on Loki's face before he stopped in front of the place that he lived. One of his hands slipped inside of his pockets. Uneasiness settled around the two teenagers again.

"Thanks for walking me home," Loki managed as Steve turned around to leave.

"Anytime," Steve said, flashing a smile towards the other.

A/N: I think this is one of the longest stories I've written. I'll try not to finish it all at once so that it feels rushed. * awkwardly smiles * I would like to thank all the people that have reviewed, favorited the story, and so on. It means a lot to me!
