Been a while since I updated! I know! But please read and review!
Previously: Yuma and Astral are confronted by Kite, a Numbers Hunter who's soul duty is to find and collect the Numbers cards. Yuma quickly summons Utopia to his side for battle, but Kite reveals his ace: Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon. Kite gains quick control over the duel and counters everyone of Yuma's strategies! Just as the duo are about to lose, Kite receives a transmission revealing that his brother Hart has collapsed. Kite cancels the duel and leaves to care for his brother. But Yuma and Astral are still scarred from the battle.
Rank 10: New Enemies
As Mr. Heartland sat on his chair, he spun around and pressed a button on the desk in front of him. A door to his room opened up and three figures entered.
"Since Kite can't collect Numbers right now," explained Heartland with a malicious grin. "Me and Dr. Faker would like your help replacing him for the time being."
"Don't worry Mr. Heartland," replied the Figures. "We'll do more then Kite ever did."
Heartland smiled in response. "Don't let me down."
Heartland Academy
Yuma sat alone on the bench away from the other kids. His face rested in his hand and his eyes didn't have their usually spirit in them.
Above him floated Astral, facing the same depressing reality as Yuma. They both knew that Kite had beaten them good.
"We didn't even put up a decent fight," groaned Yuma. "Talk about lousy."
"Had he not called off the duel," Astral explained. "We would have lost. And because of that, I would have vanished and you would have lost your soul."
"Yeah, I know," grumbled Yuma. "Plus he had that Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon to back him up. I've never seen a card that powerful before."
"Yuma?" questioned Tori as she approached her friend with Bronk, Cathy, Caswell and Flip.
"What are you doing here by yourself?" asked Bronk as if Yuma had gone insane.
"I just need some time to myself," replied Yuma as he stood up, shoved his hands in his pockets and walked away.
"Something isn't right about him," commented Caswell.
"I bet it has something to do with that Numbers Hunter person," answered Tori.
"Hamburger Hunter?" questioned Cathy.
"No Numbers Hunter!" retorted Bronk. "You know, that strange card Yuma has?"
"Are you saying Yuma lost to this guy?" asked Bronk.
"No," replied Tori. "Well, Yuma said he called off the duel before he was about to get beaten."
"Hang on a minute Tori," interrupted Caswell. "You're saying all this as if you didn't see this happen. Were you not there when Yuma dueled?"
"Well," replied Tori. "Yuma said this guy froze time or something."
"Yuma's finally gone around the bend," commented Flip.
"I don't know?" answered Tori. "Because when Yuma said he dueled, he ended up in a completely different spot to where he was before and his duel disk was activated and all."
"So there is a Numbers Hunter?" said Flip.
The Next Day
"Hey Yuma!" called Out Tori as she raced over to Yuma with a green duel disk strapped to her wrist. Yuma was sitting on the staircase once again brooding.
"Duel?" questioned Yuma. "Tori, you don't duel."
"Sure I do," replied Tori. "Here I go! Draw!" As Tori reached for her deck, she accidently pulled her whole deck out and her cards scattered everywhere.
"Don't push yourself," warned Yuma.
"Listen Yuma!" snapped Tori as she picked up one of her cards. "You're not going to stop dueling are you?"
"Maybe."
"But what about jetting!" retorted Tori.
"Maybe."
'Yuma's not going to jet anymore?' thought Tori.
The Gym
"Oh that is it!" cried Tori angrily. "If you're not going to jet them I'm going to do it for you!"
"Don't Tori!" warned Bronk as Tori ran towards the jumping blocks and smashed right into them.
The Pool
"You call this high?" said Tori as she stood on the highest diving board in the building. "This is nothing."
"Stop Tori!" called out Yuma but it was no use and Tori launched herself from the board and back flipped into the water. When she didn't surface, Yuma dived in.
The Medical Wing
As Tori awoke, her friends around her sighed with relief.
"I told you to be careful Tori," commented Yuma.
"It's all your fault!" snapped Tori. "If you'd just grow a spine!"
"Me?" questioned Yuma. "Spineless?" Everyone turned to look at Yuma.
"Your right," said Yuma with a smile. "I'm not one to drag my feet along. I'm going to do it! I'm gonna jet!"
"Thank you Yuma," said Tori as she jumped up and hugged him, agitating Cathy in the process.
"Anyway Yuma," interrupted Bronk. "I had an idea about how you can beat this Numbers Hunter."
"Really?" asked Yuma.
"You need to beef up your deck," explained Bronk. "You know, get more Numbers in there."
"I see," replied Caswell. "In other words, you need to collect Numbers and strengthen your deck faster then the Numbers Hunter can do it."
"This is a logical move," responded Astral to Yuma. "I need to collect the Numbers anyway and this is a good way to do it."
"Wow guys!" interrupted Yuma. "You're not taking this serious enough! I mean this Kite guy is scary! If you help me, he might come after you too!"
"It's a risk we're willing to take," said Flip.
"Then we hereby form the Numbers Club!" announced Caswell.
Heartland TV Ad
Heartland stood in front of the Heartland grounds wearing a yellow suit and hat.
"As you know," announced Heartland. "I am the duelist of justice how protects all that is good! And if you come on down to Heartland then you can save the world too and have fun on rides and adventures! Don't forget Captain Corn! Thunder Spark and Princess Cologne!"
At this moment three figures appeared as well. The first was a pirate composed of corn, the second a thin blue man and the third a short girl who looked like a doll.
"We'll meet at Heartland!" continued Heartland. "Blazing Hearts!"
Heartland Theme Park
A young boy gave a cry of joy as he was placed in the back carriage of Captain Corn's Nature Cruise ride.
As the ride began however, his carriage disconnected from the others and rolled to a mysterious stage. And there was Captain Corn.
"Wow Captain Corn!" cried the Boy. "You look so real!"
"You bet I am," replied Corn. "And you're special too. You're not like the others."
Suddenly, Corn vanished and reappeared at the other side of the stage with a duel disk on.
"Now put your Numbers on the line!" declared Corn. "It's time for a shadow game!"
The City
"This sucks," commented Yuma.
"We haven't found a single lead," groaned Tori.
"This means Bronk's strategy isn't working either," explained Caswell.
"Hey guys!" called out Flip as he ran over to them. "I heard a rumor! And guess where it's from!"
"Where?" asked Cathy.
"Heartland!"
"You mean that Heartland?" questioned Yuma as he turned to face the theme park in the distance.
'I have a bad feeling about this,' thought Astral.
Short chapter I know but the next will begin the duel between Captain Corn and Yuma.
Next Time: Heartland-Yuma meets Captain Corn and begins a ferocious duel with him. But everything changes when he summons his Number! Blackship of Corn!
