Wednesday
It's been five days since Derek has heard anything from Stiles. He hasn't been in school and he hasn't been answering his phone so he was starting to get worried. As soon as he got to school he started looking for Stiles. When he couldn't find him but he found Scott at his locker, he went over to him. "Hey Scott?"
"Whats up Derek?" Scott said still going through his locker.
"How is Stiles?" Derek asked. "It's been a while and I haven't heard anything from him."
"How do you think he's doing?" Scott asked looking over at him. "You broke up with him."
"Yeah but not because I don't care about him, I do." Derek said. "I just couldn't deal with his dad anymore and I didn't want to come between him and his dad."
"Well breaking up with Stiles didn't help anything because now he blames our dad and he won't talk to him." Scott said closing his locker. "He hasn't left his room since you broke up with him and refused to talk." He walked off.
"Wait?" Derek said going after him.
"What?" Scott said. "You said that you wanted to see if he was okay, well he's not. Forget my dad and what he says in this you have to make things right."
"Meaning what?" Derek said.
"Ask yourself if you want to be with Stiles." Scott said. "If that answer is yes then nothing and no one should keep you from being with him. I love him but he's not right about you. Stiles means everything to me and I hate seeing him like this so make it right, I'll see you later." He said heading off to class.
Derek just stood there, thinking about what to do next. He really did want to be with Stiles but he hated having to deal with his dad. Why couldn't he just be happy for Stiles. Then everything would be so much easier for everyone.
As the day went on Derek found it increasingly hard to focus on his work. Within his classes he found himself texting Stiles but he kept getting no reply from him. By lunch he was completely over school and wanted nothing more then to just up and leave but considering his attendance record he knew that wasn't an option if he wanted to stay into school. One thing was for sure though, he needed to see Stiles.
...
When Scott got home he went to the kitchen and grabbed a box of pizza from the fridge then went right up to Stiles room. "Stiles?" He said knocking on the door. "Can you please let me in." He continued to knock on the door and yell out Stiles name until he finally opened the door.
"What do you want Scott?" Stiles said walking back over to his bed and sitting down.
Scott came in and closed the door behind him. He had to lock it because Stiles told him too. "You've been locked in here since-"
"Since what?" Stiles said. "Since dad ruined my life and Derek broke up with me?"
Scott sighed. "He only did that because-"
"I know why he did it!" Stiles yelled. "And it's bull crap because this is my life."
Scott sighed. "This whole thing is crazy." He looked over at the door when someone knocked on it. A second later he heard a voice.
"Stiles?" Mr. Stilinski said. "Can we please talk?" There was no answer, he sighed. "Stiles?"
Scott looked at Stiles who had his knees pulled to his chest and head resting on his lap, arms wrapped around them. The knocking continued and continued and when he went to move Stiles grabbed his arm so he sat back down. When the knocking finally stopped he grabbed another slice of pizza from the box. "So are you ever going to talk to him?"
"I'm just not ready." Stiles said leaning back against the headboard. He grabbed another pizza and sat back. "Did you see Derek in school today?"
Scott nodded. "Yeah and he's worried about you. He's been calling you but you don't answer, where is your phone?"
"Dead." Stiles said. "I don't want to charge it because I don't want to talk to anyone. I only let you in because I knew you wouldn't go away."
Scott smiled. "You should call him, I mean we all know that he really does care about you and he wants to be with you. It's just-"
"He won't allow it." Stiles said.
"You want to be with Derek, right?" Scott said and Stiles nodded. "Then don't let nothing stop you. Like Mr. Argent did with me, he'll come around."
Stiles smiled. "Thanks Scott, again."
Scott cleared his throat. "So does that mean that you're coming to school tomorrow?"
Stiles shrugged. "I guess we will have to wait until then."
"Guess so." Scott said laying down on the bed.
...
Mr. Stilinski pulled up in front of the Hale residents and got out of his police car. Walking up the warn down steps he knocked on the door. A few seconds later a man he knew as Peter Hale, Derek's Uncle, appeared.
Peter scoffed when he came face to face with the sheriff. "What the hell did he do now huh?"
Mr. Stilinski looked confused then remembered the last time he was here, he arrested Derek. "He hasn't done anything Mr. Hale I just needed to talk to him."
"Give me a second." Peter left the door and went to get his nephew.
Derek made his way downstairs and over where the sheriff was at the front door. "What are you doing here?"
"I need to talk to you." Mr. Stilinski said.
"What's the point?" Derek snapped. "You got what you wanted so what else is there to talk about?"
"Stiles." Mr. Stilinski said. "We need to talk about Stiles and that is the only reason I'm here right now so can the two of us sit down and talk?"
Derek looked back into the house before stepping outside. "Fine, lets talk." He leans against the wall.
Mr. Stilinski saw that Derek was wearing sweats, a tank top and a pair of very fuzzy blue slippers. "First off I wanted to apologize for that night you came over for dinner. The way I acted was inappropriate and I apologize."
Derek just stood there with his arms folded. "What changed your mind?"
"My son Stiles seems to really care for you." Mr. Stilinski. "The past few days have not been all that easy, especially for Stiles."
"Yeah." Derek said. "Scott told me that in school today."
"So why did you break up with him?" Mr. Stilinski asked. "I thought you cared about him."
"I do." Derek said. "I lost my parents when I was young and even my Uncle and I aren't that close. I saw what our relationship was doing to your relationship with him and I didn't want to come between you. I never wanted to break up with him."
"I'm going to ask you a question and I want an honest to god answer." Mr. Stilinski said. "Do you really love my son?"
Derek pushed himself off the wall. "I'm in love with your son and I'm sorry I can't control the way I feel. I think about him everyday and I want to be with him but before any of that happens I need your approval. I'm not asking you too accept me in your life now but I want a chance. A chance to prove to you that I love him."
"Why don't you come over tonight for dinner." Mr. Stilinski said. "If you don't have anything else to do."
"I don't have anything else to do." Derek said.
Mr. Stilinski held out his hand. "Well we will see you tonight."
Derek smiled and shook his hand. "See you then."
The sheriff turned and walked off. "By the way, nice fuzzy bedroom slippers!"
Derek chuckled. "Thank you!" He yelled back and once the car pulled off he went back inside. "I'm going to friends house, I'll be back later." His Uncle didn't answer him so he just went up to his room and got dressed. Around six that afternoon he headed over to the Stilinski household. A part of him was nervous because he didn't know what to expect. He just hoped that this time it would be a good night.
