A/N: Normally this story would not be updated until Saturday, and there will be an update then, but I was asked to update it sooner and since I surpassed my goal on NaNo, decided to take the time and post the next chapter a few days early. They are finally engaged and Fuji messed with Yukimura ever so slightly, but in the end he won. LOL. Thank you to FS'Briseis, Kurayami-9, WhiteEnsigma, estepha, onyxinlife, and Oreobabez for your reviews. Here is the next chapter, I hope you like it.
Chapter 10 – Visit Home
Normally, Yukimura would not return to Japan until the end of August or beginning of September for a small break from his tennis schedule, but he and Sanada found themselves disembarking from a plane on August 10th, and they couldn't be more excited or happy about it. In a week's time the bluenette's good friend was getting remarried for the third, and Yukimura knew it would be the final, time.
The couple had made sure to leave the middle of August open so that they could be there for Fuji and Tezuka's wedding; there was no way the bluenette was missing this event. Yukimura had known when his good friend married Fuji the first time they were perfect for each other, but the bespectacled man had chosen to be a slight idiot and leave Fuji. Now the couple found each other again, Tezuka got to know his son, and the romance was rekindled. Finally the bluenette's friend was past the stage of idiocy and had asked for Fuji's hand in marriage again.
Exiting the terminal, Yukimura and Sanada found the raven haired man's mother waiting on them both and beaming at the couple. Sanada Katsumi had been more than excited when they announced they were dating and wanted to throw a party as soon as she heard they were engaged. Actually, she wanted to throw the party as soon as her son told her he was going to propose a month before he did it, and then she sat around anxiously awaiting the verdict… was she going to get a new son-in-law or not? In the end, her son got the man he loved and Yukimura had said yes. There was nothing more she could have asked for; Genichiro had found the man who understood him, completed him, loved him, and made him happy. That was everything a mother could ever dream about in a partner for her child.
Katsumi pulled Yukimura into her arms for a hug and kissed his cheek; she would have done the same for her stoic son, but he really didn't like that stuff. She still kissed him though. "How was the flight?" She asked as she led them out to the car.
"We hit a bit of turbulence, but it was good," Yukimura smiled. He always loved Sanada's mother; she had always been welcoming and treated him as her own, "I am just glad to be home."
"Hai," Sanada declared in agreement. He loved being his fiancé's manager, but he was exhausted from the travel. Glancing at the bluenette next to him, he knew he wouldn't have it any other way though. Yukimura was everything he had been looking for and didn't know it, and his grandfather had been right: Daisuke wasn't the man for him. No, the man for him was a professional tennis player who fought hard on the courts and loved him with everything he had. They had a rocky start, but it had made them cherish what they had now so much more.
"Well, it is a good thing you came in a week before the wedding so that you can relax and catch up on some sleep, and with your friends," Katsumi told them seeing the exhaustion in their eyes. "I got the guest house ready for you to use instead of one of the guest rooms so that it is a little more private and quiet. Sasuke has been coming over more often, so this way he won't disturb you too much."
Both men nodded. Yukimura had an apartment that he used whenever he was in town, but when Sanada moved in with him, it had gotten a little more cramped and they wanted something bigger. They were going to wait until they had some free time to look, but accidents happen and the building caught fire. For the most part, the bluenette's apartment hadn't been harmed and his parents had been able to collect the important things for him and Sanada while they were gone; however, it was unlivable until repaired, so the couple took it as a sign to leave. Sanada's parents offered the use of their home until the couple found something that suited them and they had accepted the offer.
"How is my nephew?" Sanada asked his mother.
Snickering, she told him, "Getting big and obnoxious. You and your brother were always so disciplined and quiet, he is the opposite and he has a lot of spirit, but he is like you and has a strong bond with your grandfather."
"That is good. How is grandfather?" Yukimura questioned. Gen'emon had not had any more strokes and last time they had seen him, he seemed strong and healthy, although one side of his face still dropped and his speech was slightly slurred.
Katsumi smiled lovingly, "He is good and likes to boss everyone around." One thing she had always been grateful for was the good relationship she had with her in-laws after she married her husband, Genisao.
"Ah," Sanada sounded off. He was relieved that his grandfather was doing so well and that he would be around for a while longer. He wanted Gen'emon to see his wedding to Yukimura because it was his grandfather's words that forced him to stop running and face his destiny; and he wanted him to see the children he and the bluenette would bring into the world because of their union. There was still so much for his grandfather to be a part of, the raven haired man didn't want to lose him yet… not that he ever did, but when they finally did have to part ways, he wanted to make sure his grandfather knew how happy and full his life was; and thanks to Gen'emon and Yukimura all of his dreams were coming true.
"Genichiro, do you know Tezuka from when you went to school? I know he was a tennis player as well, but you said you didn't know Seiichi and he was a tennis player," Katsumi inquired.
Giggling, Yukimura leaned into his fiancé's side, "He didn't know me because after my first year, I left the high school tennis team and started to work on going pro. Tezuka continued throughout high school and college though."
"Hai, I played him a few times," Sanada stated.
"You did?" The bluenette asked; he hadn't been aware.
The raven haired man gave the bluenette a small smile, "Yes, it was a fierce battle each time. He was the buchou and so was I."
"So who won?" The other man probed.
"Which time? We played a total of four times in our high school careers. He won two and I won two, and the last time we played, we both ended up injured," he answered.
Chuckling musically, Yukimura shook his head, "I didn't realize that was you. I heard all about that match from Niou, Bunta, and Kobayashi."
"Not Tezuka?"
"Hmm. He just said he would heal and that it was hard. He also said you were talented and played well, and that one day I should play you, but that was it, and I don't remember anyone giving me your name."
"Now that you and I have played together, any regrets?"
The bluenette smiled brilliantly and shook his head, "Not a one." He leaned in closer and whispered, "On or off the courts." If he would have known Sanada's name, he really believes he would have searched him out, but he isn't sure if anything would have changed at that point since he was so focused on his career. However, there is such a spark between them, it might have made a difference back then, but what was important was he had the other man at his side now.
Sanada couldn't resist and gave the man a quick kiss before pulling back and remembering who else was in the car with them, "Me either." He wondered if he had met Yukimura in high school if things would have turned out differently for them, if they would have been together sooner, and if he would have never gotten his heart broken by the poser in school. In that moment he realized something though, it didn't matter. Everything they had both gone through made them stronger and more committed to each other.
When they finally made it to the house and Katsumi left the couple in the guest house, they walked into the single bedroom and collapsed. They were exhausted and they did not wake up until the next day when the matriarch was knocking on their door and handing over a tray of food to her sleepy looking son, "I didn't bother you for dinner last night, but you two need to eat. So here is breakfast. After you eat, get showered and dressed and then come see your grandfather, and then you can do whatever you want, but he would like to see you."
Nodding slowly and trying to process all of the words his mother was saying, Sanada finally said, "We will." He took the tray inside and slid the door closed. Walking back into the bedroom, he found his fiancé starting to stir and called out to him, "Seiichi, mother brought breakfast." He watched the other man's eyes slowly open and focus before finding him and then his breath hitched as he received a smile that never failed to make him joyful or his heart to race.
They were both still in their clothes that they arrived it, but they quickly ate and got ready for the day. After a shower, they both felt refreshed and had a nice visit with Gen'emon. The older man was ecstatic to see how happy the couple was together and that they were thriving. Genisao was unsure about everything with Sanada had announced he was going to quit teaching so that he could manage Yukimura's career and travel with him, but Gen'emon had known it was for the best and he could see that it had been a good decision. They were perfect for each other and he couldn't help but approve and respect Yukimura for teaching his grandson that it was ok to love and be loved in return.
Later that day, the couple travelled to Hiromi and Yanagi's house to visit the couple and have dinner together. Hiromi was due any day now with their first child and from what Yukimura had heard, her husband was not the calm, cool, calculating self they were all used to; in fact, he was a bit of a mess.
As they visited, Sanada was shocked to see his good friend a little flustered, especially when his wife would gasp at a particularly strong kick. This was not the Yanagi he knew and it was a little weird to see. Glancing at Yukimura, he could see the amused glimmer in his eyes and knew his fiancé was enjoying the fact that one of their friends was suffering a bit; and when he saw the smile he shared with Hiromi, he wondered if it wasn't being done on purpose. However, it made him think about how he would react when the bluenette was finally pregnant. Would he be his normal calm and stoic self, taking everything in stride, or would he be completely opposite like Yanagi and seem like a completely different person? He didn't know. He thought he might hover, but he would like to believe that he wouldn't be a basket case; it was really hard seeing the data master like that, "Renji, if you do not calm down, you will not survive the birth."
"Genichiro, the statistics state…" Yanagi started and felt a hit on the back of his head from his supposedly loving wife.
"People give birth every day. She will be fine," Sanada declared. He really hoped he wasn't like his friend.
After dinner, the couple decided to get a drink before heading home. It felt nice to be out and not have to worry about schedules or getting up early to train the next morning. They were on vacation and could enjoy being together and being around the people they loved and cared about. As they were sitting there, Yukimura snickered, "Will you be a mess when I get pregnant Gen?"
Rubbing his face with a hand, he shook his head and muttered, "I pray I'm not."
"Me too, but I guess we will see when the time comes. Ne, how many kids do you want?"
The thought of Yukimura pregnant with his children, sent giddiness streaming through Sanada's body, "I don't know. At least two, but I will be happy with as many as you want to have. I'd like to have a girl that looks like you and a strong boy that will help keep other boys away from her."
That made the bluenette laugh, but happy at the same time, "Two is good, but I think I would like three or four."
"We will have as many as you want."
"Be prepared for a house full then."
"If it is with you, I could think of nothing better," the raven haired man said softly and kissed the side of his fiancé's head.
Beaming, Yukimura leaned in and gave the other man a small kiss, "Good because I wouldn't want it unless you were there."
The next day, they ventured out to see Bunta and Niou and their children. Michio was now three and they had another baby who was a little over a year old and his name was Bikou; leave it to Niou get his husband pregnant so that Bunta would deliver on April 1st. It seemed so apt that they would have a child on April Fool's Day, and he looked just like Niou, while little Michio looked like Bunta.
Being around so many babies and or people who were pregnant made the couple want to start a family fast, but they were waiting until the right now, and now wasn't it. They still had to plan their own wedding which would take place the following April under the Sakura blossoms, and the bluenette still had some goals to accomplish in his career before he took time off or retired and it included winning the US Open and Wimbledon. He had won the Australian Open earlier that year and the French Open the year before, but he hadn't managed to win the other two titles… yet. That was his first goal. Win one of each, and then he would attempt to win all in one year.
As the week moved on, they met with Tezuka and Fuji once, who seemed to be calm as their wedding day approach; and they saw Yagyuu, who introduced them to his new girlfriend and Yukimura had to pull him to the side and give him a special talk. Yes, it turns out that the girl Yagyuu had been dating for a month was none other than Yukimura's little sister and the bluenette had no idea, "You will treat her right and like a lady or you will regret it. Sora is special and if you hurt her, I will hurt you. Do you understand?"
Yagyuu got the message very clearly, "I understand, and I agree. She is very special and I would never want to hurt her. She is different from everyone I have dated in the past. I really had no idea that she was your sister."
"The last name didn't clue you in?" Yukimura narrowed his eyes on the other man.
"You are not the first Yukimura I have met and she lived in a different prefecture. I knew it was a possibility that you were related, but I did not realize that it would be siblings. Renji would have normally corrected my misunderstanding, but he has been a bit preoccupied lately."
The bluenette snickered, "We saw that for ourselves. Take care of her…" Feeling himself being pulled backwards, he found Sanada behind him shaking his head and his sister glaring at him.
"That's enough Seiichi. I really like Hiroshi and if you run him off like you have the others, you will be the one regretting it," Sora declared.
Seeing the siblings standing side by side, it was hard to miss the family resemblance and Yagyuu wasn't sure how he missed it before. He watched them bicker as Sanada moved to stand next to him.
"How did you find the one girl in Japan related to Seiichi?" Sanada inquired.
"We were actually set up by Hiromi on a blind date, but I guess that should have tipped me off," Yagyuu answered as he pushed up his glasses, "I really do like her and care about her. She isn't like any other girl I have ever dated."
Sanada nodded and exhaled, "Just be careful. Seiichi is protective of her."
Yagyuu grinned, "Understood."
By the time the wedding day came around, the couple felt like they had a whirlwind week with everything they witness and learned. It wasn't that they didn't keep in touch with their friends, they called and emailed all of the time, but somehow there were a few things that slipped through the cracks and they were beginning to wonder if they needed to make additional trips home to check on things.
The day of the wedding, not a cloud was in the sky and it was beautiful. Everyone convened at the park in Chiba where Tezuka had proposed to Fuji. The aisle ended on a bridge that spanned a small lake in the middle of the park. Both Sanada and Yukimura smiled as they watched little Ryoma escort Fuji down the aisle and then lead him to where Tezuka was waiting for them on the bridge. The stoic man wore a black tuxedo with a blue brocade waistcoat and bowtie, and the blue eyed man wore a white tuxedo with the same waistcoat and bowtie. They looked perfect together, and the bluenette could feel the tears forming and falling as he watched his good friend recommit himself to the man he loved. Feeling a squeeze on his hand, Yukimura looked at his fiancé and saw the small smile as a handkerchief was pressed into his other hand.
When the ceremony was over with, everyone headed over to Kawamura Sushi for the reception. Dinner, drinks, toasts, and dancing were in abundance as everyone helped the happy couple celebrate. Ryoma at five years-old demanded the mic and gave his own little speech and toast, which became the favorite of his parents. Yukimura was even able to convince Sanada to dance with him once. It was a good night and the bluenette felt blessed that Tezuka and Fuji had invited him and Sanada to join in the festivities; and now neither of them could wait until they said their own "I do's".
