A/N: I'm so sorry! It's been a year and a half and I'm so sorry! I have no excuses other than finishing college and starting University and not having any motivation… But I hope to do better! I've also realised how many spelling mistakes and grammatical errors I've made previously and can't remember how to change them.

Chapter 10: Darren
Lily just stood and watched from the safety of the hall. The strong chemical smells washed around her as she looked through the glass. There were her parents, holding each other with tears streaming down their faces. Doctors and nurses were rushing around the bed, sticking matts to his bare chest, pumping something in his mouth, moving a giant machine closer to the bed. She wasn't prepared for when they shouted 'CLEAR!' and his body jumped into the air. Limp and useless.
Petunia had stayed at home. Maybe Lily should have too. A twelve year old shouldn't have to watch her baby brother's body jump under the electric currents. She shouldn't have to watch a team of medical staff try to resuscitate him.
Professor Dumbledore called Alice, Remus and Marlene into his office after the welcome feast. James, Sirius and Peter watched them go, not sure what was going on.
Remus held the door open for the girls as they entered.
"Ah, Mr Lupin, Miss Prewitt, miss McKinnon, welcome."
"Hello Sir." The three sat down, waiting for an explanation from the headmaster.
"now I'm sure you're all wondering why you're here. I believe you also want to know the whereabout of Miss Evans?"
They nodded, leaning forward.
"Well I'm afraid we are not sure if Miss Evans will be returning to Hogwarts this term."
"What?"
"Why?"
Dumbledore raised his hand for silence.
"Darren Evans was found yesterday morning. He was severely injured and Miss Evans and her family are currently waiting to see if he is alright."
"Is he going to be alright Professor?"
Dumbledore looked at Alice, "Hope is a wonderful thing to have Miss Prewitt."
He allowed that to sink in before continuing.
"If Mr Evans is alright then I'm sure we will be seeing Miss Evans soon."
"Are you sure you want to do this sweetie? You can always stay home with Tuney."
Lily let her mother brush her hair, looking at her pasty reflection.
"I have to do this Mum, I have to see him."
Miss Evans finished with her daughters hair. "Ok dear, we'll meet you downstairs in a minute."
Lily nodded before going to grab the faded red fire engine from the bed, hugging it as she went to meet her parents downstairs.
Everything was colourful. Her parents hadn't wanted it to be black, they wanted it to be a colourful as his life had been. Besides, what kid likes black?
They sat and listened as the vicar spoke, then her parents got up, hugging each other as they choked out words explaining just how wonderful their baby boy had been. How strongly he had fought. And how he was still here, helping other people. They had donated his organs.
Finally people went up, kissing his forehead in the open casket, murmuring sweet sentences and memories.
Then it was Lily's turn. She shuffled up to the front, dreading it. He looked just like he was asleep, like he could wake up any minute. Lily stifled a sob as she stepped up to the casket and placed the fire truck next to the body of her dead brother.
