Letters from a Mutual Friend: 10

Letter 10: Help Wanted and Found

Author's Disclaimer: No, I still do not own Labyrinth. All rights go to their respective owners. After that small surprise, it is time to see the rest of the story, the part that the trio did not share with Jareth, for obvious reasons, or are about to become obvious. Either way, Sarah has been dealing with a lot of stuff of late, so thank goodness for friends! Enjoy!

[Dear Sorrowful Sarah Our Late Lady]

Dear Sarah,

We recently got your letter, and we wanted to write back right away to reassure you that we understand the situation you described in your letter. We feel for you, and we don't want you feeling any more guilt than you should regarding us. It sounds as though you've had a rough month, and we wish we had known [for our sakes and His Majesty's, as we would have been willing to help]. Ludo has been moody and calling more rocks of late, while Hoggle has been "stress-baking" [as you call it] and muttering under his breath a great deal. Sir Didymus felt "most keenly" for you, and he has been defending your honor to all that you had not forgotten us [even to the angry, frustrated Rat]. We are glad that the exams are taken care of until the final ones, even if one was not as good as you hoped. Hopefully, the problems you are having with your roommate and that Marcus fellow will all be taken care of by then.

With regard to the two people mentioned above, we will give our opinions about what would be wise to do, since you asked. Seeing as Jess is your roommate, and she can help you with Bernard, we advise you to reconcile with her, as you were thinking of doing. Trusting her will be hard for some time, given how she invaded your privacy, but hopefully, she will continue to try to earn back your trust, as she did when she realized that Marcus was trying to hurt you [not helping you to annoy Jess]. She seems sincere in trying to change, so give her a second chance [just as you did with Hoggle]. As for Marcus, we are sorry that he has been bothering you since the party. We [know from Jareth's gloating] suspect that the goblins saw him talking to you at the party, and that they thought he was bothering you, so [Jareth] they decided to try to help. It is unfortunate that he has been knocking on your door and making "weird noises" [whatever those are, can't be any worse than hearing the chickens be chased by goblins] to keep you awake and confused. That he kept you up before that one exam is a sure sign that he means you ill, so something more dramatic need to be done. We will [tell Jareth, who will deal with him as only he can] collaborate and let you know in our next letter what we have thought of.

Also, we have a little news on our end. Sir Didymus has had trouble sleeping of late [even though we all have, mostly related to you, but thanks to Jareth who has had far worse trouble than all of us combined], since he wakes up suddenly at night [from Jareth]. Hoggle has created a special tea to help Sir Didymus sleep, and with the abundance of tomatoes he still has, he has been finding more [odd] uses for them, besides the ones that he saves for you. The next time we meet at the mirror, we insist that you try his tomato and herb soup, as it is delicious [compared to the other things he has made] and perfect for all the cold weather you have. Finally, Ludo found out from His Majesty that his family is in the process of moving into the Goblin Kingdom, and once they are close enough, we will go out to welcome them properly. We suspect, based on how slow Ludo moves, that it will take several more days. We had been hoping that they would have arrived by now, but because of [Jareth worrying about you] other matters that His Majesty was dealing with, Ludo's herd's move was delayed. Also, once we have seen Ludo's family, we would love to talk in front of the mirror again, at your earliest convenience, so that you can hear and see Ludo's excitement. Also, Ludo invites you to meet his family properly, so if you want, our next mirror talk can be had here, so you can enjoy some of Hoggle's cooking and meet the whole family. Please let us know if you would have time to do that. Take care, and good luck with your work!

Your [concerned anxious] friends,

Hoggle, Ludo, and Sir Didymus

Author's Notes: Woot! Ludo's family is getting ready to appear, making him very happy, and help has come to Sarah at last. Sorry if there is the delay in seeing the S/J goodness, but I promise there will be something coming soon in that department. They just need an appropriate reason, with a little help from our favorite trio [who may or may not have intended to do that]. Thanks for reading and commenting!

FarGreenCountrySwiftSunrise: Hee hee, I'm glad you liked that one! :D I had way too much fun with those. Sorry it killed you, but thanks for confirming that they have the internet in heaven :D Thanks so much! I'm so glad you are enjoying it!

SVJohnson8721: Oh definitely! You go right ahead and own those "bog feathers"! :D I'll be expecting to hear updates of how everyone around you is confused at first and then starts to pick it up after you ;-) Or, just use it however you please. Glad to contribute! Thank you for reviewing!

Guest: Wonderful! Thanks for letting me know! All feedback is appreciated, and I'll be trying to update this much more frequently now. :D
