Chapter 10

Time For Making Up

LENA'S POV.

It's been a week since I joined and I still haven't been able to talk to Draco. It seems like whenever we try and talk it ends up in an argument. I've been crying a lot lately because of it. I need to fix this, before I lose my best friend for good. But the question was, how?

We had been training in the Room of Requirement for a while now. It was the perfect place and Neville had found it. Not to mention it helped to relieve some of my stress. It was the only time when I wasn't thinking about things with Draco. Harry really was a great teacher.

It was the last time we would be training. Tomorrow we would all be leaving for Christmas. It made me feel a little bit better. Plus, Christmas was no time to be upset. Although, I know that there will be a Christmas party at my home, and Draco and his parents will no doubt be there. Hopefully it won't be too bad.

Once training ended, we headed out and I went straight for my room to start packing. Once that was done, I pulled out a sleek Nimbus 2002 from under my bed. It was my present for Draco. His last broom had been severely damaged. Something about it being thrown at the Womping Willow. Ahem, which I have absolutely no idea about…Yeah, no idea…

So I had decided to get him a new one. I had gotten presents for the others too. I had gotten Hermione, Ginny and Bex friendship bracelets each with different colors for each of them. I got Harry, Ron, Fred, George goodie baskets with candy, cookies, muffins and all kinds of sweets. I couldn't think of anything to get them, plus they eat sweets anyway whenever they can.

The next day, we were leaving. I saw Draco boarding the train, he looked sad. I knew he felt the same as me. I hope things will look up soon.

On the train ride I gave the others their presents and they loved them. I had told them about what I got Draco, and although they still didn't like him, yeah, that's a nice way of saying it, they still wished me good luck. I could see that the boys were a little jealous, but thankful nonetheless.

After saying goodbye to the others I soon found my parents. We used the Floo Network ad were soon home. Once there, my mother spoke up.

"So how have things been sweetheart?"

"Fine." I stated.

"And you're studies?" she pressed.

"Good." I replied.

"And Draco?" she asked.

At that, I burst into tears, and flung myself into my mother, who hugged me tight and rubbed my head. I told her and my dad everything that had happened, including everything that had happened with Umbridge. My parents were shocked, then furious. They wanted to tell the Ministry, but why bother? They were why all this had happened, besides, if they went against the Ministry, it would only lead to more trouble.

Despite all that, Draco and his parents would still be attending the party, along with a few others. Lucky for me the party was week away, so I would have time to prepare. Good thing too, I would definitely need to prepare…

The week flew by faster than I thought it would. I was woken up on Christmas morning by Sonia, who had already woken up mom and dad, who were in the living room with coffee and waiting for me to come down. After getting up, I grabbed my lavender robe that went to my knees and headed down the stairs with Sonia. Once at the top of the stairs, I smiled upon seeing the boxes of presents.

I rushed down with Sonia and we dove in, each of us began exchanging presents. I got an assorted lotions, perfumes and body wash basket, with my favorite one, Cucumber Melon from mom, my favorite book set from dad and a few new clothes from Sonia.

I got dad a new robe and slippers, I got mom and beautiful sapphire and silver necklace with matching earrings, and I got Sonia a new bracelets with different charms on it, they glow when you are going through a certain emotion. Each individual corresponding charm does that is.

After that, we had breakfast. I had a cheese and meat omlette with a glass of cold milk. It's always been what I eat on Christmas morning. It kind of became my tradition.

Once we all had breakfast, we began to get ready for the party. The house was tidied, with two hours until party time. We used that time to get ready. I had taken a long bath and soon got dressed.

I wore a purple dress that went to my knees and was strapless. I wore black tights underneath with silver flats. My hair was but up into a fancy bun and I had on light make up. Just some eye shadow, a bit of blush, mascara and some lip gloss. I was ready, and just in time, because I heard the doorbell, and made my way downstairs.

People started filling in and who was the last to arrive? The Malfoys of course. I saw Draco, he looked at me. He was about to walk over, when Pansy got in the way and attached herself to Draco. I rolled my eyes and made my way elsewhere and started talking to Bex.

"So, are things still strained between you and Draco?" she asked.

"Yeah, things still are." I replied.

"Well, I'm sure things will get back to normal soon enough." Bex replied.

"Thanks, but enough about me. Did I or did I not see you hanging out with Blaise the weekend before we were out for winter break?" I asked.

"Oh, um, well-" I cut her off.

"And weren't you two talking a short while ago?" I pressed.

"Well, yes, but-" once again I cut her off.

"And-" this time Bex cut me off.

"Okay, yes! That's all true, but we're just friends." she insisted.

"Sure, okay." I stated slyly.

"So maybe I like him, but I don't think he feels the same way. We're good friends, I wouldn't want for us trying to be more, ruin that. I mean we did just did officially become friends." she explained.

"I get it." I said smiling.

Just then slower music began to play and Blaise came over. He stood in front and Bex and bowed, offering his arm.

"May I have this dance, Rebecca?" he asked.

"Sure." she said, I could see a light pink on her cheeks. And considering her milk chocolate complexion, she must have been blushing a lot.

They walked onto the dance floor and began to dance. I smiled at her and gave her a thumbs up. She smiled at Blaise nervously and they began to dance. I could see them being together. It was actually really sweet…

Throughout the party, I avoided Draco. The last thing I needed was for there to be a big scene at a Christmas party. Besides, it's not like we could really talk. Pansy had clung to him the whole time and was giving me these evil looks, like she'd won something…like she'd won Draco. If she thought she did, she was in for a shock. It made me feel weird though, seeing her cling to Draco. I merely brushed it off though.

Once the party was over and most of the guests had left, the Malfoys were the last to leave. Before they left, I stopped Draco. I had his present in hand.

"Here Draco. Merry Christmas." I said.

"Thanks…Merry Christmas Lena." he said, handing me a box with a beautiful Treble Cleff note on it. It wa made of amethyst and hung on a silver chain.

"Draco it's beautiful…thank you…well, see you back at school." I replied, smiling a bit sadly.

He did the same and left with his parents. As they left I mumbled a bit.

"I miss you…" I said quietly.

Draco looked at me as he and his parents left. He looked like he wanted to say something, but wasn't able to as the green flames swept them away. I looked down sadly and made my way to my room. I slipped off the dress and changed into my pajamas. Since it was the winter, it was a purple and black stripped long sleeved pajama shirt, with purple pajama pants with white and black polka dots, and black fuzzy socks.

After getting hanged, I went back downstairs, and got some left over dessert. I brought it back to my room and ate some while I watched a movie on the flat screen in my room. I needed something to take my mind off of tonight, so I figured, what's better than t.v.?

I really hope things will get better soon…

TWO WEEKS LATER.

We were back in school and back to training. Umbridge was cracking down on more students than ever. I had managed to avoid her as best I could. She would give the students tea and then question them. I wasn't stupid. I knew she was using a truth potion.

She had tried to get information out of me. She offered me tea. I made it seem like I would take a sip. When it was close enough, I took a sly sniff.

Veritaserum. I knew it.

Uncle Snape had taught me how to sniff out certain potions. It really came in handy when a boy might try to slip me a love potion, or Pansy would to put something in my drink. Of course it was always funny to switch Pansy's drink with mine when she wasn't looking, and see her potion affect her instead, like the time when she tried to give me green hair. She drank the potion after I switched drinks and she had green hair for a good month.

I had murmured a spell to empty the cup and make it seem like I drank it. She began to ask questions, all of which I denied. She looked livid! I was trying hard not to burst out laughing. As I left, I spoke.

"I hope you enjoy you're enjoying things here at Hogwarts." I said with a smile and left.

I headed straight for the others to tell them what had happened. I saw Cho was next. I hoped she would be strong…

As I headed to the others, I saw Draco. I smiled sadly at him and waved a bit. He waved back, with a sliver of a smile. I sighed and kept heading to the others.

Once I made it to the Room of Requirement. I had told them about what had happened and how Umbridge was trying to get information. I told them how to get around it. After we continued to train. While we trained, I couldn't help but shake the feeling that something would happen soon…

ONE WEEK LATER.

We were in the training room working on our patronus. Mine was a songbird. It had lovely wings, magnificent tail feathers and gave a beautiful sound, hence the name. I watched as it flew around and interacted with the other's patronuses. Just then there was a boom sound and all our patronuses vanished as we looked to where the sound came from. It happened again, the lights flickered and the chandeliers clinked together as they swayed. We heard it again, this time it sounded a bit louder. That couldn't be good.

It happened again and we heard the glass crack. It happened again and this time the glass shattered and fell to the ground, leaving the wall behind it with a whole in it. William and Harry moved closer and looked through. Then we heard it.

"I'll make short work of this."

It was Umbridge!

"Bombarda maxima." she stated.

Harry quickly pulled William back, just as the wall burst open, revealing us all and Umbridge and the Inquisitorial Squad. We all looked shocked and a bit frightened at being found. But exactly how did she find out!? I told everyone how to avoid the truth potion!

Just then Draco came into view with Cho being dragged along.

Oh no. I had told everyone except Cho! I should have said something before she went up. Just then, Umbridge spoke.

"Get them." she stated.

As we were led out I gave Draco a sad look and his smug look, seemed to falter.

Harry, Cho and I were led to Dumbledore's office, with Fudge and a few other Ministry figures there as well. I saw how Harry was looking at Cho. With a look of hurt and anger. I wanted to tell Harry that it wasn't her fault, but I wasn't able to.

They were talking about sending Dumbledore to prison and he responded saying he had no intention of that and quickly vanished spectacularly with Fox the Phoenix. My mouth hung open in amazement.

"That. Was. Awesome." I stated with a smile.

Unfortunately, Umbridge was appointed as Headmistress of Hogwarts. Now things had changed for the worst and she really had taken over the school.

During out studies, everyone who was a part of the army had to use a Black Quill pen and no one would talk to Cho. I felt bad and tried to tell Harry it wasn't her fault, but he was still upset.

A lot more students could be seen crying in the Gryffindor House. It was sad. Very sad. Something needed to be done about this, but with Dumbledore gone, what could be done?

We were in the middle of out O.W.L.S., when we heard a boom sound. Umbridge had gone to see what it was. When the doors opened, we were met with firework and the twins throwing more into the end, until all the rules were off the wall outside and broken. The twins had a giant dragon firework chased Umbridge out of the class and we all rushed outside.

We were all outside and watching the fireworks, when Harry suddenly collapsed. Hermione and I rushed to his side and he said one thing.

"Sirius."

We had tried to use the Floo Network in Umbridge's office, but were caught. She began to question us. She started with me and I could see the loathing in her eyes.

"You were going to gather more followers weren't you?" she asked.

"No." I stated.

That bitch slapped me!

I looked at her shocked and spoke with hate.

"Piss off you old bitch." I stated.

She looked shocked and backhanded me. I fell to the floor. I saw Draco looked shocked. I knew he wanted to help, but couldn't.

She interrogated Harry next and was about to use the Cruciotus curse on him, when Hermione stepped up. They left and with that the rest of us that were left, managed to escape. I was almost out of the room, when someone pulled me back. I was about to attack when I saw who it was.

"Draco." I stated.

He looked at me for a moment, before pulling me into a tight hug. I felt him shake a bit and hugged him back.

"I'm sorry Lena. I'm so, so sorry." he stated trembling.

"I forgive you Draco. And I'm sorry too. I guess we know there's blame to share."

"Yeah, and none of it seems to matter anymore." he replied.

I looked at him and smiled.

I heard the others call me and looked back then at Draco again.

"I have to go." I stated.

He nodded and smiled at me.

I gave him one last hug, then headed towards the others. I could already tell something big was about to happen…
