Jasmine's POV
"Don't you know you will never find someone as good as me?" Marcus shouted as he held my wrist in a death grip. "No one else could love you! I'm doing you a favor by dating you!"
"Please let me go." I whined. Marcus slammed me into the wall instead.
"I will never let you go Jasmine. Don't you see? You will always belong to me." Marcus told me with a smile. "So either enjoy it and let me love you or we can keep having fights like this one."
"You're hurting me." I told him quietly.
"Good. Maybe a little pain will remind you of how you should behave." Marcus snared before letting me go.
"Mommy, what's going on?" My seven year old self asked as my mother picked me up looking scared.
"Nothing baby." She whispered to me. "Just be quiet for me please." She ran down into the basement and shut us in the closet down there. There was a loud crash upstairs followed my some shouting.
"Mommy, what's happening? I'm scared." I told her.
"I know dear. Just stay quiet. I'm gonna call Daddy." My mom told me as she called my Dad. "People are in the house. I don't know who but they have guns. I have Jasmine down in the basement closet with me. Please hurry." I tried not to cry as the crashing and shouting continued above us. Mom pulled me closer to her when a man entered the basement. Suddenly the closet door flew open and there stood a tall man with black hair.
"I found her." He shouted. "And an added bonus." He smiled and reached for me. My mom tried to fight but it was no use. Suddenly I was being ripped from her arms as another man grabbed my mom.
I don't understand what's happening. All I can see and hear are terrible memories. They won't stop. I thought I would be safe and free here, instead it's much worse.
I walked into the gym, keeping my head down. I didn't want any attention. I just wanted to get practice in and be done with the day.
"Isn't her brother the freak that set the science supply shed on fire?"
"Yea. Apparently it's a whole family of freaks."
"I can't believe she even showed up today. There is no way she will last on the team now."
"Maybe her brother got jealous that Marcus was doing his sister instead of him getting to do her."
"I bet you're right! Freak families like that always have incest type shit going on."
I Kept my head down and tried to ignore the conversation the other girls were having. Just two hours and I can be free of them.
"You actually came? Do you have a death wish or something?" A blonde Brittany clone asked as she shoved me into the wall as she passed by.
I just want to be free. I can't push these memories away no matter how hard I try. I want to go back. I wanna see my family.
Squid's POV
"Do you really think something like this will work?" I asked Zigzag skeptically.
"I know it seems crazy and it kinda is. But I really think it'll help. It like remind her she has something here I guess." Zigzag explained.
"You've been trying that since this started though." I sighed.
"I know. I know. We just have to try harder. We can't let her slip away." Zigzag sighed. "If we keep talking to her, playing her favorite music, reading to her, that kinda stuff. Maybe she'll realize what she has and come back to us."
"I guess it can't hurt to try." I shrugged. I went to shower and take the dogs on a walk with the boys. I tried to go about everyday stuff but the entire day Zigzag never left her side. He was constantly there talking to her or reading to her. Whatever he thought would help. Honestly, it was probably just my imagination, but I could've swore there was a difference. Somehow it seemed to be helping. Later in the evening Mick took Zigzag with him to go talk to some family or something. I'm not sure what was going on exactly, but I promised Zigzag that I'd stay by her side while he was gone. I read to her for a little bit but once the book was finished I didn't know what to do.
"Ya know, talking to you wouldn't seem so odd if you would respond." I sighed. "I've never seen him like this ya know. He seems almost childlike. I never would have imagined him thinking this kinda stuff would work or making me promise to watch over you even though nothing is happening. You've got him so worried he's like another person. Honestly, everyone is worried. We might not have known you long but you kinda became part of the family already. So you better hurry up and snap out of whatever this is." I stared at her like I was waiting for some kind of response, even though I wouldn't be getting one. I brushed a strand of hair out of her face and let my hand rest on her cheek for a moment. "I miss you Jazz. I miss your laugh, your eyes, your smile, everything about you. I wanna be able to be in your life so please come back. I want you back."
"Hey man. We're back." Zigzag called as he walked into the house. "How's it goin?"
"Alright. I read to her and all." I shrugged. "I'm gonna go get a drink." I walked into the kitchen and could hear Zigzag talking to Jasmine. I grabbed a coke from the fridge and sighed, leaning against the counter. When was this nightmare gonna be over? I just want this to stop. After a moment I heard Zigzag yelling for his dad. Deciding to see what was going on, I walked into the living room. I stopped short when I saw Zigzag hugging Jasmine. And she was hugging back.
"Jasmine? You're awake?" I gasped, walking up to the scene.
"Yea." Jasmine replied weakly with a smile.
"What happened?" Zigzag asked. "What was going on?"
"A lot. I was kinda lost in my head." Jasmine said looking into her lap. I smiled and went down to tell the boys the good news and also give Jasmine some time with her brother and dad. I can't believe it. She's finally awake. She's gonna be okay.
