Despair

Both Ezreal and Lux immediately froze. While Lux desperately evaluated any possible chances to escape this mess, reaching the desperate conclusion that it was hopeless after mere seconds, Ezreal couldn't take his eyes off Talon.

Everything that had been repressed into the depths of his mind for the past few weeks in which he had been wandering around – all the confused feelings, thoughts and dreams he had suddenly emerged, almost forcing him onto his knees. He had ignored them before, turning them blurry and strangely distant as if they had happened to someone else. But now they were clear, vibrant and unmistakably real.

On the other hand, Talon only spared him a quick glance – Ezreal could barely just see the hidden anger, lust and – maybe it was just in his imagination – pain. However, before he could think further, Talon hid every emotion again behind his cold, half mocking mask. His typical, cynical half-smile hid the previous emotions as he turned his eyes to Lux and began to speak.

"Ah, and as if this isn't the fair Lux Crownguard: daughter of the famous family of Demacia and sister of Garen, the might of Demacia. It's a pleasure to finally meet your acquaintance, finally meeting outside of the battlefields of league and…" He paused, widening his smile a bit as his eyes flickered over the situation "Under such... Special circumstances."

Getting even paler then before, Lux forced out a polite smile and murmured through gritted teeth "Ah, the pleasure is all on my side, Talon of the house of Du Couteau." She laughed nervously "It's also a pleasure to finally meet you out of the fields of the league. Even though I would love to have a proper, longer talk with you, I have some urgent business to attend to. So if you would be polite enough to let me and Ezreal go our ways?"

Lux's voice faded into a monotone, hopeless timbre at the end of her speech; she knew in the end it would be of no avail, but she was still unwilling to simply give up on her last hope.

And predictably, Talon's smile turned wicked upon hearing this and, in a deep although pity-filled voice, he replied

"Ah I'm terribly sorry but it would be... Incredibly rude of us to just let you go without showing you the famous Noxian hospitality. Especially the current head of our house, Mistress Katarina, would hate to see you leave without having a few words with you dear Lux. Since I am a humble servant of her and the house, I must insist that you meet her. So would you and your… Companion be as kind as to follow us?"

The last sentence came out more as an order rather than a question.

Looking at each other and then at Talon and his 'guards', Lux and Ezreal just gulped, mustering up all the determination they could, before nodding at each other in resolution.

"All right, please lead the way" Lux said.

Giving her a sharp nod, Talon gestured them to follow him.
