Silver: Lyra, where did you put Cyndaquil!? I know you took him!
Lyra: Dearest Silver, I have no idea what you are currently talking about.
Silver: Liar!
SFL: It's true, I took Cyndaquil, genius.
Lyra: Her brother's obsessed with it.
Silver: *pouts*
SFL: Is he...
Lyra: I think he is...
SFL: He's... pouting... So... un-Silverish...
Silver: *pouts more* Shut up! SpringFallionLettuce does not own Pokémon!
"Ugh, that Elder Li was a pain... Wait. Elder...Li? As in... Elderly?" I paused next to one of the lamps that divided Violet City from Route 32 at the realization, while Bay rolled his eyes. I crossed my arms defensively, letting out a stubborn huff.
"What? Is it really that bad that I just figured that out!?"
Bay, without skipping a beat, nodded, and I pouted, continuing on our way. Route 32 wasn't anything special so far. Clean, even grass with a large patch near the Violet City entrance, though I decided not to indulge myself quite yet.
Instead, I kept one hand on Bay's back, and one to navigate my Pokedex, which had now stolen my attention. "Huh, there are a lot of different types of Pokémon... Fire, like Silver's Cyndaquil, Grass, like you, Bay... Hey, what about a Water-type? It would be useful against that dumb rival of mine."
Yeah, I know, it's sad. I couldn't say Silver's name more than one per sentence. I had enough thoughts of him to go around already. Stupid Silver, distracting me from my goal.
Bay nudged me with his head, obviously concerned when I zoned out. I assured him with a pat when I felt a poke on my other shoulder.
My head whipped around to see a middle aged man with small smile. "What's the hurry? That's a strong looking Pokémon you have there. It must be from lots of training!"
"Oh, uh, yeah," I replied rather awkwardly, but it must have missed this old guy's ears because he just kept rambling. I tuned him out until he said something about a souvenir and handed me this seed that supposedly boosted grass type moves. It was attached to a necklace, and, guessing correctly what I was thinking, Bay lowered his head for me to give him the necklace.
I turned around again to say thank you to the man, but he was already gone. I tilted my head in confusion, but decided not to question it. After all, he gave us free stuff.
Fast Forward 30 Minutes...
The serenity of this route was amazing. There were lots of trainers wishing for matches, and I boosted my ego a ton when I beat all of them, finally coming to a pause under a highway when I spotted a small lake.
I figured that Bay could use a relaxing nap and some fresh water, so I patted his back and gave him a light push, letting him know he had free reign. Bay nudged me affectionately before going to drink from the lake.
I, on the other hand, began taking off my shoes and socks, dipping my bare lower into the water. I have no idea how long I stayed like that until one of my legs went numb. That was kind of strange, and I assumed something caught on it or something, so I pulled it out.
Holy crap.
Nomming on my leg was the derpiest Pokémon I had ever seen. I scrambled to grab my Pokedex and shoved Bay awake.
"Wooper? Even its NAME is derpy..." I giggled, snapping my fingers to signal Bay to attack. He let out a weak Razor Leaf, since he was still half asleep, and Wooper cried out in pain, sending a glob of mud at Bay's face. That woke him up real good, and I swear his eyes turned red for a second.
"Bay, use Vine Whip!"
Bay obeyed eagerly, wrapping his vines around Wooper's small body and repeatedly slamming him into the ground until his eyes were replaced by swirls. I was slightly freaked out by his angry behavior, but gave him a comforting pat.
I glanced back at Wooper. The little guy had developed a soft spot in me. I retrieved my bag and looked through it, angrily shifting any items in my way until I found a poke ball.
"Poke ball, go!" I shouted dramatically- for no reason other than me thinking it sounded cool- while throwing the ball at Wooper, watching him disappear into the red and white orb.
One shake.
Two shakes.
Three shakes.
Bing.
"YES!" I shouted, grabbing the poke ball and holding it to the sky, then embracing Bayleef by the neck and hugging him. "We got a Wooper! Heck yeah! Hoothoot, come on out and see your new friend!"
Hoothoot released itself from it's poke ball, cooing happily and nudging my lower leg affectionately. I 'awwed' a few times in response. "Come on, there's supposed to be a Pokémon Center on this Route!"
Alright, here's a heads up. I'm having some trouble keeping up with the story, so there will be a couple short chapters after this one, and then we're home free when I get my life back together.
Silver: YAY! I got Cyndaquil back!
SFL: Um, Lyra, he just...
Lyra: Yeah, he just 'yayed'
SFL: What... the heck?
Lyra: I gave him ice cream.
Silver: WOOOOO!
SFL: Gotcha.
*Both girls slowwwwly back away...*
