Arthur.

Sherlock remained silent, waiting to see if Alexis would elaborate.

After a moment of silence, she did. "My twin brother, we were inseparable. He was fifteen minutes early, so he had it stuck in his head that he was my older brother." She smiled slightly and shook her head. "You would not believe how protective he was, almost more so than my father."

Sherlock folded his hands in his lap casually. "You are referring to him in the past tense, what happened?"

"He was shot on his way home from work, robbery gone wrong. His killer got away, and the case is long since cold." She shrugged. "I guess that's what got me so obsessed with crime solving."

"Obsession rarely ever just happens. It's triggered by a specific event in a person's life, driving them with an almost dangerous passion to…" He trailed off and then waved his hand. "But you already knew that, and it doesn't matter anyway. Please, continue."

Alexis shrugged. "There's not much more to tell. He was murdered, and a little over a year later I moved to London."

"So that's why your penname is Arthur Doyle. Where did Conan come from?"

Alexis laughed. "Arthur always said he wanted to be named Conan, it never made sense to me, but there you go."

"Well, now I know who Arthur is. Mystery solved."

Alexis scoffed. "You didn't solve the mystery, I told you."

He shrugged. "The mystery is solved, how it came to be so is irrelevant. I look at results."

She rolled her eyes. "Whatever you say, Sherlock."

Sherlock suddenly stood up, clapping his hands and rubbing them together vigorously. "I have an idea."

Alexis raised her eyebrows. "Oh really?"

"Yes, really."

She looked at him expectantly. "Well? What is it?"

"Let's go down to the station, I want to see if Lestrade has any cases for us."

"I thought you already had a case?"

He waved a hand dismissively. "That? I solved it last night, turns out the drugs were being delivered by actually having them found and locked up in evidence, there they had an inside man who switched the bags of drugs out with bags of powdered chalk, since the drugs had already been tested no one bothered to test them once they were in evidence, simple, but rather clever."

"People hardly ever look for the simple solution, they think everything has to be complicated. Well, I suppose if you're ready for a new case already, we might as well."

Sherlock smiled. "Excellent! I'll grab my coat."

"Um, Sherlock?"

He paused. "Yes?"

"Maybe let me get dressed first?"

He glanced down at her pajamas, and then cleared his throat. "Oh, yes, right. Hurry along now."

She smiled and hurried upstairs, quickly dressing in a pair of black pants and a teal blouse. Pulling on a pair of black ankle boots and grabbing her coat, she went back downstairs to find Sherlock pacing back and forth, rubbing his hands together absentmindedly.

"Oh good, come along." He turned and walked out the door, skipping every other stair in his haste to get outside.

Alexis hurried behind him, smiling at his hurry. He usually wasn't this eager to get another case so soon after solving one, perhaps the last one wasn't interesting enough.

She found him on the sidewalk, hailing a cab. "What do we do if Lestrade doesn't have a case for us?" She asked, stepping closer to the curb as a cab pulled up.

"Lestrade will have a case for us, he's always got something the police can't solve."

Alexis smiled. "You're awfully confident."

He opened the cab door and slid inside, answering as she followed. "And why shouldn't I be? I'm very rarely wrong."

"Ah, but you are wrong sometimes."

He waved his hand dismissively. "Well, the times I'm right far outweigh the times when I'm not. He'll have something for us."

Alexis shrugged. "Whatever you say."

It didn't take too long for them to arrive at the station, and once they did it was only a matter of minutes before Sherlock was striding into Lestrade's office, Alexis close behind him.

"Sherlock?" The chief Inspector said around a bite of doughnut, standing up in surprise.

"Yes, it would appear so. I've solved your case."

Lestrade raised his eyebrows. "Already? I just gave it to you the other day."

"Well, it wasn't a difficult one." Here he went on to explain how the crime was being carried out, while Alexis struck up a conversation with one of the female officers.

Once Sherlock had finished explaining, and Lestrade had made some calls and ordered some officers to take care of the problem, he returned to his seat and turned to Sherlock. "And you want another case already?"

Sherlock glanced at Alexis and then shrugged. "The last one wasn't very interesting."

Lestrade raised his eyebrows and turned slightly in his seat. "Well, we can't have serial killers and madmen wreaking havoc on London all the time just to fulfill your "interesting crime" solving needs."

Sherlock rolled his eyes. "Well I'm not asking for a serial killer of a madman, I simply want something a little more interesting."

Lestrade let out a sigh and shook his head. "I don't know what to tell you Sherlock, I don't really have anything at the moment, at least, nothing that would interest the great Sherlock Holmes."

"I don't like being mocked."

"Sorry, I didn't mean to offend, it's just I don't have anything at the moment." At Sherlock's disappointed face, he added reassuringly. "But I'll be sure to call the minute I do."

Sherlock stuck his hands in his coat pocket sulkily. "Well what am I supposed to do now?"

Lestrade stood up and clapped Sherlock on the shoulder as he led him toward the door. "Go for a walk in the park, visit the library, go and see John and Mary. I'm sure you can find something. Until then, I have a mountain of paperwork that needs doing."

Alexis smiled at Sherlock's pout, and turned to Lestrade. "I'll find something to keep him busy, it was nice to see you again Greg."

He nodded his head. "And it was a pleasure to see you again too Miss Doyle. Keep him out of trouble, yeah?"

Alexis laughed as she hooked her arm in Sherlock's and led him out of the station, calling over her shoulder. "I'll try my best."

Once they stepped outside, Sherlock made a frustrated sound in the back of his throat and pulled loose his scarf. "Blast it! What am I supposed to do now?" He shouted, gaining the attention of a few passerby's.

Alexis rolled her eyes at his childish behavior. "Why don't we go and see John and Mary? We can invite them over for dinner back at the flat."

Sherlock raised his eyebrows. "I can't cook."

"Well I know you can't, but I can. Come on, that's what we'll do."

Once they reached the Watson's, they were invited in for tea, and visited for a few hours.

Alexis sipped at her tea, and closed her eyes in appreciation. "Oh Mary, this tea is just divine. What is it about England that makes the tea taste so good?"

Mary laughed. "I'm not sure, quality perhaps? Or maybe it's how we prepare it."

Alexis took another long sip from her cup. "Whatever it is, I'll never drink tea in America again."

"Do you plan on moving back?" John asked.

Alexis placed her cup in her saucer slowly, and cast a glance at Sherlock. "Um…moving back? Probably not, but I'm sure I'll visit, seeing as my family still lives there."

"Has your family ever come to England?" Mary inquired, daintily sipping at her tea.

"My brother did, took some classes here when he was a teenager. He loved it here, and I'm sure he would have come with me…"

John and Sherlock shared a look, silently communicating. John then turned to Alexis and gave her a sad smile. "Sorry for your loss."

Mary looked slightly surprised, but didn't say anything.

Alexis nodded. "Thank you." She glanced at the clock and quickly set her cup and saucer on the coffee table. "Oh dear, we'd best be getting Sherlock. Still got to clean up around the flat and start on dinner."

Mary stood up and smiled at Alexis brightly. "I'm looking forward to it. Can I bring anything?"

"Dessert?"

"Perfect. We'll be there around six?"

Alexis smiled. "Sounds good, I'll see you then." She gave Mary a hug and then turned and gave John one as well. "Thanks for letting us just pop by."

John nodded. "Anytime. We'll see you tonight."

Alexis turned and glanced at Sherlock, who was still seated. "You can stay here if you like Sherlock, you'll probably only get in the way back home anyway."

Sherlock stood up quickly and shrugged on his coat. "Nonsense, I'm coming with you."

Alexis hesitated, and then shrugged. "Alright, you're helping me clean up your lab equipment then."

He looked as if he was second guessing his decision for a moment, and then shrugged. "Well, if you insist. Come along then, it will take a while."

As they walked out, Alexis waved. "See you tonight!"

Ugh! I apologize for the obscenely late update, and the crappy filler chapter. I have been busy, and stuck in the nearly impossible to escape pit of procrastination, as well as the rut of uninspiration. However, I am slowly getting back in the groove, and decided that I might as well post this short filler chapter to tide you over until I can get the next one written.

Also I have recently gotten poison ivy on my left hand, in between my fingers and such, so my fingers are currently wrapped up, making it fairly difficult to type. Hopefully that will clear up soon, and I'll be able to get that next chapter up soon!

Thanks so much for sticking around, and I'll see you soon!
