Sam

Sam went through the streets, looking from person to person. Most of the townspeople had hidden themselves away where they felt it was safest, but the one's who were out were primarily men looking to try to help make sure it was safe for their loved ones, stupid people who had no idea how powerful the enemy was, or the occasional good and brave soul. The ones who saw him looked at him with both awe and a little fear. He was thinking to himself of ways to maybe help out, and make people more comfortable and even happy in the current dark situation.

Sam held his hands up to his face and examined them, slowly clenching, curling his fingers towards his palm, and feeling the natural ambient energy that surrounded them. His mind was occupied with how he had known to heal that nasty bruise when he woke up, but while he kept walking he was remembering more things. Things that had been locked away inside his mind since before he was born. Not really memories, but more like knowledge of things that had been programmed when our Dad put in Sam's divine software. He wasn't sure what to make of this, or what to make of the phrase "divine software" that just popped into his head, but he put it off for the time being seeing people work to fortify the town.

The townsfolk had been working on a kind of barricade around the town made mostly out of aluminum and wood. It didn't serve any REAL purpose, other than providing the feeling that you might be safe. Though it was impressive how quickly they assembled it, the barricade provided little to no actually protection. Grant it, a little sorcery from Sam's dad could very well turns these walls into useful tactical positions.

Sam watched them trying to raise a sheet of metal, intending to weld it into place. He brought his voice up, saying "Hey...you guys!" He immediately regretted his choice of words, finding that to suddenly announce his presence there was embarrassing. To his surprise, they all immediately recognized him, and stopped what they were doing out of awe and more than a few hints of fear. Sam cleared his throat, and said "Let me help you with that."

They all took a step back from the metal as Sam lifted it with his mind, making it move into place seemingly on its own accord. He placed it upright, in the gap between the building's alley. Once it was firmly in place, his right eye began glowing royal blue. He stretched out his arms forming a 90 degree angle in front of him, from each hand he pointed two fingers at the top of each of the sheet's sides. The metal at the top right and left hissed and sparked, glowing cherry red like a welding torch had been applied to it. Sam moved his hands slowly down, and that spot of heat that had sparked at the top moved down with it, welding the sheet to the area it was placed against. When it was done the piece of metal stood perfectly up right at the end of the alley, closing the last gap in the wall in this part of town.

Sam stood back, his hands on his hips and his dark blue jeans, looking rather proud of his work. He then felt a heavy hand on his shoulder. He turned and looked up to the red bearded face of Manly Dan

"Much appreciated, freaky kid. Now I'm going to get back to my kids." He leaves, and Sam is surprisingly okay with the "freaky" comment.

He had to deal with stuff like that through most of his life. Mismatched eyes and ash grey hair had a tendency of provoking comments like that. In second grade he had even had cut his hair as short as he could, taken to wearing a baseball cap in reverse, and sunglasses wherever he went on any occasion. But in time, he had come to be proud of his freakyness, let his hair grow out, and always looked people right in the eyes when he talked to them.

He looked around, the people leaving, except for a few still looking at him a little mystified. Sam smiled, then left looking for more to help with. He walked down the street, passing the arcade, and thought to himself that it was probably for the best that most of Gravity Falls people weren't out. It did make sense to be with family during times like this.

That feeling of gratitude was not to be long celebrated though, because he was soon alerted that he was being watched, and that whoever was watching him was also coming towards him from behind. It was strange, he had suddenly become aware of the sensation of conscious thoughts and kinetic motion approaching him, like a whole new range of sensory organs had become available to him, and he could perceive the world around him with a branch of inhuman senses he couldn't remember experiencing before. Yet somehow these energy based senses felt….natural to him, and infinitely refreshing. Like he had been blind, deaf, and dumb his whole life. And like someone who had been denied one of his senses, his mind had amplified the sensation of them upon their awakening, making the affects similar to what one might guess a powerful drug felt, only without the nasty side effects. He would himself to ponder this new mystery later, because his thoughts were needed elsewhere.

Whoever was coming was getting closer. Sam bided his time, and each of his eyes each glowed with their own color as he took in and built up power. He was waiting, this man, as Sam is pretty sure it's a dude, is closing the gap, and seems to be giving off an aura of purpose, like he had been ordered to do something by a superior. Just a few more seconds… NOW!

Sam turned around as fast as he could, at the same time raising his right hand to level with his head, burning blue-green light coming off his hand, and an angry snarl on his face. The light from his hand cast his shadow onto a building to his left, complete with the silhouette of hawk like wings on his back, despite that his wings were currently immaterial and invisible.

The man who had come up behind him flinch, expecting the worst. Sam quickly realised he was no threat, and lowered his hand. "Sorry for the scare" He said quietly, meaning it. Since this situation normally doesn't come up, he wasn't sure what else to say.

The individual tried to regain his composure, straightening out his very formal clothes, like a man who was serving someone of high rank within the social caste. "No problem, Lord." Sam had never been called "Lord" before and hadn't expected to be called it now, but when your nature is literally angelic, you should be prepared to have humans address you as such. The man continued speaking, "It's my own fault for sneaking up on you, eh?"

Sam chuckled a little, "I suppose so."

"My name is Archibald MacLeish… feel free to laugh a my name."

Sam obliged, laughing at the namesake of the American poet. He stopped a moment later, and offered his hand to Archibald. "It's nice to meet you."

Archibald, whose name I know bring up an image of some old guy with a beard, but I assure you, he is in his early forties with a shaved face and head, took Sam's hand with a smile a shook it. "Well you're certainly nicer than I first expected. And more cheerful for someone who just died should be."

"Meh, probably. Now, I know you're here for me, and that you were sent by someone. Why?"

The bald man shouldn't have been surprised by that, he said "Um… yeah. I was sent by someone you might call "important." And they would like very much to see you. So if you'd be so kind as to follow me…"

"...Why do I suddenly feel like I'm in a B-rated mob movie?"

A little later

Sam walked with his escort back through town, being led to the Gravity Falls library. Archibald held the door for Sam, but did not enter himself. The interior of the library was dark today, with any sources of light having been either blocked out or turn off. This lingering shadow was meant to give the whole place an eerie appearance, and inspire a certain degree of respect by fear that the host of this meeting could use to manipulate him. For many normal people this would be very unnerving, but Sam couldn't think of a thing in world he'd have to be afraid of here.

The way to whoever had wanted to see Sam was marked out by the open door with a low light coming out on the other side of the room. He approached it, aware of a faint music coming through the door. Melodious and classical, the reason for it wasn't entirely clear. Sam came through the door, the room, like the rest of the library, had books stacked in rows along bookcases that lined the wall. There in the center of the room was the person who has called him there.

Pacifica Northwest sat at a small table set for two, with a red silk tablecloth laid over it, and the lit candles placed at the center casting golden-orange light to the rest of the room. Freshly cooked chicken, with visible steam still coming off it, was sitting patiently in the center of the table, glasses and a two liter jug of Pit Cola was set off to the side, and plates with silverware neatly arranged on opposite sides of it.

The Whole thing made Pacifica looked like a mob boss that had been awaiting the arrival of some fool who had encroach on her turf or showed her some disrespect, which reinforce Sam's feeling that he had stumbled into a bad mafia movie.

Pacifica smiled slyly at Sam, "Hello. Glad to see you could join me, Hun. Please, take a seat." She motioned to the chair opposite to her.

Sam sat down, simply to he polite. "Hello, Pacifica. It's nice to see you too. Mind telling me why you wanted me here?"

Pacifica laughed. "Very to the point. I like that in a guy." She collected herself, "You've lived here your whole life, haven't you? I'm sure you have. I've lived here my whole life too, and I've seen you ever since you were in kindergarten. Along with most of the other girls in town. You were oh so very exotic, and we all were mystified by you." This was a slight exaggeration mixed in with a possible lie Sam was good looking, no doubt about that, but his strange appearance kept most girls at bay. Pacifica continued, keeping with the flirty tone she had set, trying to disarm her target. "We all knew you were special, and not just with those beautiful eyes, or fascinating hair. There was a fire you carried in your eyes, and you walked with a purpose and determination kids shouldn't have. Yes...so obviously special, but no one would have ever guessed that you were literally sent from above."

"Meh, that's how it goes." Sam said so casually and nonchalant like this happened all the time.

Pacifica found herself a little irritated by his tone and reaction, but she kept it to herself since getting angry with him wouldn't help her with what she was trying to get out this meeting. "No! It's not. A few days ago I might not have even believed in this stuff if I hadn't see you risking your life for all the people here. A lot of them having made fun of you at one point or another. Why would you even do this for them?"

Sam looked at the blonde girl, and gave her a kind smile. "You're precious to me."

There was silence from Pacifica for a moment as she contemplated what he could mean, but it only confused her. "What?"

"Each and everyone of you is precious to me. You're weak, ignorant, and flawed. But I still care about all of you."

"I...don't...get it. What do you mean? A lot of the problem here are terrible, and most of the people in this town are literally the dumbest is the world. Like, LITERALLY. Plus, plenty of us have been certifiably MEAN to you. Including me." Pacifica hadn't meant to bring up that last bit, she didn't want to remind him of what she had done to him, it could make getting what she wanted difficult, but in her confusion it had slipped out.

Sam sighed, saddened by here confusion. "No, you don't get it, do you?" Sam paused for a brief moment. "I don't know how, but I can see a lot more than I could a few hours ago, and I can say that one day, you're going to understand the concept of unconditional love. But until then, don't hurt yourself thinking about it."

This wasn't going as well as Pacifica hoped. She was loosing any advantage she thought she had over him. She needed to set things back on track. "Um...It's very dangerous out there for everyone. And you do know I'm very rich, right?"

"Hard to forget when you always try to remind everyone."

"Umm...yes! Sorry about that." She wasn't sorry. Like, at all. "Well, as you know, I'm very rich, and my family has powerful connections. I could give you whatever you want, but I'd need something in exchange. I want you to guaranty me and my family's protection from all that supernatural malarkey going on out there."

"...Hehe...HAHAHAHAHA!" Sam fell back in his chair, laughing so hard he got a tear in his eye. "Okay! Now I see your game. The mysterious messenger sent to deliver me to a secret spot, meeting me over a dinner. You look like some preteen mob boss." Pacifica looked like all her hopes had just been smashed. "Don't get me wrong, you pull it off very well. But you can't expect me to be so easily manipulated. With that being said, I'm willing to negotiate. But remember, a deal with me-" His expression became intense, and his blue and green eyes bore into her very soul. "Is binding."

Pacifica recoiled back into her chair, her eyes widening at the demonic implications of that statement."

Sam laughed again, that intensity dissipating. "Sorry, I couldn't help myself. But if we do make a deal, I will expect you to keep your end of it."

Her heart rate went down by about twenty-three beats per second, and Pacifica exhaled. "Alright. What can I do you for? Get you a big house? Lobster restaurant? Political influence? Arc Of The Covenant? A date?"

Phff...No. No. Nah. Maybe. And I'm already in a 'relationship' with someone way prettier, nicer, and more fun than you."

"Yeah right!"

"I'm completely serious, you don't have a thing of Andri. But moving on, most of those things don't even interest me in the slightest." Before she could ask what he wanted, he told her. "What I really want from you, is for you to be nice to Mabel and her friends."

"...What?"

Sam grinned wolfishly, his mismatched eyes trained on her. "You heard me."

"...You can't be serious."

"Deathly."

But she's so...so..."

"Free? Not burdened the opinion of others? Creative? Fun loving? Innocence? Kind? Need I go on?"

Pacifica tried to contemplate this. "...WHY?! Just, why? What do you get out of this?"

"To be honest, nothing at all. I'm doing this for YOU. I genuinely piety you, and want to see you make something of your life other than 'this.'" Sam made a circular motion in her direction.

Pacifica became outraged. "You just motioned to all of me!"

"Exactly. Take it or leave it. I want you to at least try to be kind to Mabel and her friends."

The popular blonde gave it some thought, then threw back her head and gave in. "UHG! Sure! Whatever!"

"That a girl!" He holds out his hand.

Pacifica looked at it, then after a moment took it with her own delicate and overly manicured hand, and shakes it. "Deal. You keep me and my family safe."

"I will. I'm going to to go do that now." Sam stands up. "And see to it that chicken gets eaten. It seems like a real waste to let it spoil." He leaves the library.

Outside

Sam smiled smugly as he left. Of course he was going to protect the Northwest family, but he was also going to protect everyone else, so really he got Pacifica to agree to be nice to Mabel for nothing he wasn't already going to do.

He quickly made his way to another part of town, moving past the park as he looked for more people that might need help. He considered going to find Dipper and the others.

Someone is suddenly behind him, and places their hands over his eyes. "Guess who." A girls voice said playfully.

"Hmm...Little Gideon?"

"Wrong!" Andri spun him around, but when Sam expected a hug or kiss or some kind of affection, she placed both hands on his chest, and pushed, HARD!

Sam fell on his butt. "Ow!"

"You JERK!" With surprising strength for a girl her size and age she lifted Sam up by his shirt collar. "If you EVER do that heroic sacrifice crud again, it doesn't matter if we're in this life or another, I will freaking KILL you!" Her amber eyes smoldered with wrath, and had a slight orange glow to them. She spread her huge jet black falcon wings behind her in an attempt to make sure her threat was driven across. And for good measure, with a snap of her fingers the demoness made a tree inside the park explode, shattering where it stood.

Sam didn't even flinch. He just smiled down at her wolfishly. "No, you'll TRY to kill me. But that's not going to work out too well for you."

Andri rolled her eyes, letting go of Sam's shirt. She hated and loved it when he said that, though she wasn't sure why. "Oh shut up." She hugged him, and planted a kiss on his cheek.

Sam smiled like an idiot as he felt his heart melt. He couldn't stop himself: He put one arm around Andri, and held her close, giving her a kiss on the cheek too. They walked like that together through town, Andri making her wings disappear.

"SAM!"

The shout of a boy's and girl's voice mixed together came from behind them, and both Sam and Andri turn to see Dipper and Mabel had running towards them. The angel and demoness let go of each other. The may have had strong feelings for one another, and their friends knew it, but they still weren't very comfortable being seen by them together like that.

Sam said, "Yo?"

Dipper and Mabel stopped in front of them, gasping for air after sprinting half a mile to find them. Dipper weezed, trying to form words, "T-T...Trixie! T-Trixie is..."

"Trixie's missing!" Mabel cut her brother off.

"Wait. What?!"

Dipper drew himself up, saying "We can't find Trixie. We looked everywhere." He took another lungful of air. "Wew!.. I need to start jogging."

A/N: Sorry for taking so long, but I intend to change this.

PS: Happy Birthday, Christina. :3
