Lorcan sat on the sofa next to his two favorite little red heads. Lysander perched on an arm chair with a book in his hands.

Lysander eyes his brother carefully as his brother snuck hidden glances toward the oblivious firey haired girl.

While on his brothers other side his brother was oblivious to the soft flowing red hair of the small second year girl.

What an unlikely predicament. They rarely had such love triangles within the house mainly because they were all too smart to let something so trivial happen.

It was quite the surprise to Lorcan to find out young Lily was sorted into ravenclaw. She never striked him as impeccably brilliant. Not even noticeably so.

Alas last year when that old hat was placed on her head it was nearly instantaneous as it yelled out raven claw for all to hear.

They spent a great deal of time together, the four of them. It was now just after easter break nearing the end of his 4th year. Rose was nearing the end of her 3rd and Lily her 2nd.

He grew quite fond of the quirky shy little girl. He much liked being the observer of things. Not getting his hands contaminated with feelings of love. Love was oh so messy.

It practically tore his twin apart.

Lysander, however, sincerely doubts his brother is in love with their friend Rose. She was a prize to him. Something to keep his hormones occupied. He wanted a girl to cuddle and Rose was always there. Always with her sappy smile and perky attitude. His brother made little effort to get to know the temperamental, angry, vicious and emotional tornado that was Rose's true form.

He didn't love Rose herself he loved the idea that a girl could love him. The same reasoning went for the youngest Potters affection.

One pairing he doesn't understand however is the Scorpius and Rose one. Both completely naïve of their own affections. Both only believing the other is a companion.

In his mind Rose would end up with Scorpius. It was going to happen eventually. He tried to look at his friends and decifer who they were going to marry. Somehow he can't see His brother and poor Lily ending up together.

Now Lysander loved his brother. This was his twin. But that also meant he knew his brother more than anyone else. Lorcan was not deserving of this shy little girl. Only because he will only ever choose Lily as a second choice. Lily deserves to be a man's first and only choice.

He fears Lily won't see this. He fears she will settle for a man who will never truly love her.

But who could honestly tell what would happen they were all so young. Perhaps his opinions will change with time.

For now he will continuing reading his novel and pearing at his closest friends every once in a while mentally taking note of their every moves. What a fun game this was, observing his friends.

"Rose, I like your hair today." Lorcan told her with a sly grin. He has grown more flirtatious this past year. He'd often tell Rose such things and she often brushed it off.

"Why thank you good sir. Thou art dashing as well." She teased him with a medieval twinge to her words.

Lorcan scrunched his face in confusion, "Why'd you say it in that weird voice?"

She blushed slightly, "I just thought it was funny."

Lysander wanted to shake his head. Lorcan could never accept Rose's odd behavior. It was something that put off Lorcan and Lysander knew this. Rose was an extremely peculiar person. Lorcan wanted extremely stereotypical. Extremely normal, was not Rose Weasley.

"I thought it was funny rose. Or should I say M'lady." Lily added and the girls laughed leaving Lorcan smiling like an idiot because he was too dense to understand .

"I should go. I promised Scorp I'd hang out with him today." Rose stood up grabbing her bag and Lorcan's face fell.

"tell him I said hello." Lily said cheerfully.

"Would you like to come Lils? We're just going on a walk." Rose added.

Lily shook her head, "No Scorpius and I are friendly, but I don't believe he thinks we are friends."

Rose rolled her eyes and laughed as if there was some joke only she understood.

"Well You know how Scorp is. I really should be going I'll see you all soon and if not I'll see you at breakfast tomorrow!" With that the red head sped out of the room and Lorcan sighed loudly as he always did when she left him for Scorpius.

"I love her so much." He groaned as per usual.

He was so busy burrying his face in the pillows he neglected to see the flash of pain that always crossed Lily's face each time he said this.

"I know you do. I think she likes you too." Lily said patting the boy on his back.

"Then why is she ditching me for the snake."

Lysander wanted to vomit his brother was pathetic.

Scorpius was sitting hunched over on the ground staring at the lake. Waiting for her to finally meet him. She had to be running late. He missed hanging out with her more than he cared to admit. Lately those bloody twins were always with her. Lily as well, but she never made him feel unwanted.

Not even the twins, just the one. Lorcan was his name he thought. The other usually was silent. Finally he conviced Rose to only hang out with him for the day.

He didn't know why he was so anxious. It was just Rose. Just the girl he's been best friends with for 3 years now. Not anything to become so nervous over. Yet his hands were sweating and he was biting his lip.

After what seemed to be an eternity of waiting there she came strolling with a radiant glow about her that made him smile.

"Hey there mouse." He said as she sat next to him.

"Hello Scorp." Her smile grew ten times as wide as she said his name and he felt his stomach do a back flip.

"Well what do you want to do today Rose?" He asked her.

Shrugging she laid on her back and stared up at the sky above them.

"Clouds are interesting aren't they?"

Scorpius laid down next to her smiling, "They are."

Scorpius hadn't called it childish. He didn't even have a second thought only stared up at the vast blue sky with sporadic splashes of white throughout it. Like an always changing work of art. The wisps of cloud mirroring the wisps of a paint brush.

They laid there briefly talking just looking at the sky as it moved watching time slowly passing between them. Her presence making his day all the more better.

Sometimes they'd point out an interesting cloud to each other.

It stayed this way for what seemed to be hours before Rose said, " I'm hot. As in warm .I am really warm lets go inside."

He obliged without a second thought once in the castle he asked, "Can we get some food?"

As if his words were a trigger she sent him a mischievous grin, "Race you." Was all she said short and sweet then she was off.

It barely took him a second to comprehend before he was stammering after her.

He was able to catch up and surpass her. Running to the portrait of the fruit. HE then remember her had forgotten which fruit you had to tickle. So he sat on the ground just waiting for Rose.

That's when she came.

He's barely had any trouble with her since Rose's first year. She was allegedly scared of Rose. Which hmeant little contact between her and him for he was Rose's best mate.

He did know she was Rose's roommate however. Perhaps they'd patched things up? He didn't know how girls work.

All he know was she spotted him and smiled halting right in front of him, "Scorpius! Hi."

"Autumn." He stated simply.

"You're looking good today." She spoke softly and batted her eyelashes overly forceful.

"is your face okay?" He asked confused.

She grumbled and looked away as a bright pink blush took over her features.

"I didn't mean to offend you." Scorpius said regretfully.

"No it's quite alright. Scorpius I was wondering if you would want to go to hogsmead with me sometime. Now that we can go and all this year as third years and all." She blushed as if she were shy, but spoke with such a confidence that made him confused.

"Oh yeah… I uh… Rose and I we sort of made plans for hogsmead." he said uneasily.

"Oh are you and Rose… You know together now?" She asked seeming depressed. This transition of extreme emotions was going to give him whiplash.

"No, but she's my best mate." He spoke truthfully ignoring the nagging voice in the back of his mind. Ignoring the sudden sadness that came with the words Best Mate.

"Then surely your mate would understand you going on a date with a pretty girl you fancy." She said flirtatiously again. Could a 13 year old girl even be flirtatious? This Autumn girl terrified him. She was one reason he hated people. People were complicated. They always held ulterior motives. They weren't like Rose who just loved watching the clouds. Why couldn't everyone be like Rose?

"I mean I'm sure she would, but there is no pretty girl that I fancy so we don't have to worry about that heh."

Maybe that was too harsh, but maybe she shouldn't ask boys who don't like people out. Or boys who only have 2 friends. Either way you look at it. He's barely ever spoke to this girl yet for some odd reason she asks him out? Birds were crazy.

Suddenly Rose appeared and glared at Autumn. Autumn glaring back at her.

"Oh okay. Well Bye Scorpy!" She smiled sickly then walked off. Scorpius still sitting on the ground looked up at an overly angry Rose.

"Uh mouse?" He dared to speak as rose turned to him with eyes that could kill.

"What did that wench say to you?" She demanded approaching him at an alarming speed.

"She asked me out on a date." Scorpius squeaked terrified.

"HOW DARE SHE! She probably knows. No assumed. Oh the never of that girl!" Rose went off on a rampage then turned back to him.

"Never. Ever. Go out with that girl Wait- you said no right?"

Scorpius never saw her so infuriated. Sad? Yeah. Happy? Nearly all the time. A little moody? Of course.

Nevr this painstakingly angry. This was pure, evil, anger. Her hair was cackling as if it were on fire.

He realized he hasn't responded and the longer he took to respond the more angry she would grow.

"Of course I said no. We have plans."

With that she stomped off and he sat shocked to see this new side of his best mate.

Then with a large growl of his stomach he remembered he was hungry and had no idea which fruit to tickle and the only girl who knew was off her rocker in the moment.

Gloomily he trudged back to his dorm to find his stow away candy that he didn't even like. He was that hungry.

He also wondered why that little piece of information made her so mad? It was oddily uncharacteristic of her to blow off their plans. No matter how angry she was. It was also odd for the care free Rose to get so Mad. Walking into his dorm he smiled as his cat brushed up against his leg. This cat was fully grown and he picked her up remembering the day that Rose gave her to him.

This cat meant the world to him now. This cat was the first gift that ever had any meaning behind it that he had received.

Rose. That girl scared him. That girl was mystery and for the past 3 years she's never once left his thoughts. That scared him too. Why was she so confusing? Why was she so different? Why'd he think about her so much?

His stomach growled once more and another question disturbed the 13 year old boy 'Why am I so bloody hungry?'
