Elena's ears perked up at the sound of the Gilbert bell ringing throughout the house. She grinned, knowing full well who was on the other side of the door. Jenna had left not 10 minutes ago. Jeremy however, had been out for hours. Elena knew none of them would be returning for a long time. So it had to be him. Damon. The man with deep blue eyes and a smile that would make her happy for an eternity. The man she was starting to fall head of heels for.

As she opened the door, Elena couldn't help but smile from ear to ear at the mere sight of him. He smiled too as he stepped through the threshold into Elena's home. He was wearing his traditional black leather jacket which somehow intensifies his ocean like eyes, drawing her in like there's no hope of escape. But Elena liked that. The unpredictability about this mysterious man who attracts her like no other.

"Why hello there Miss Gilbert." Damon said as he entered her home. He took of his jacket and hung it up on the coat pegs on the wall closest to the door.

"Mr. Salvatore." Elena said and followed him into the kitchen. "I've ordered pizza and Season 8 of Friends is ready to go!" Elena enthusiastically clapped her hands like an excited 6 year old on Christmas morning.

"Why season 8?" Damon curiously asked.

"Because it's by far the best." Elena laughed and playfully hit is arm. Damon laughed along with her, to fake his happiness. But not even Elena could make him smile tonight. Not after his confrontation with Stefan. He had pissed Damon off especially now as it concerned Elena. Damon had tried his darn best to keep her out of his problems. Damon carefully hid the deep embedded problems with his family inside himself. He never let it get to him on the outside. However this wasn't something he had been dealing with for years. Damon's hatred of Stefan had been short term; since he'd laid his hand on Elena.

Elena looked Damon up and down. She knew something was wrong. It was written all over his face. His stance was slumped. His eyes were tired. His laugh was weak. This wasn't the Damon Salvatore she knew and she was determined to find out exactly what was bugging him.

"What's wrong?" Elena said and took a step towards him. Damon looked into her eyes and sighed.

"Nothing's wrong Elena." He didn't want to trouble her tonight especially since she wanted to have a good night with him. He wasn't going to spoil this day for her. Not now. Not ever. Damon smiled at her sincerely.

"No. I know you. What's wrong?" Elena demanded and crossed her arms over her chest. She was determined to get him to open up. Damon didn't reply. Instead, he decided to divert the question.

"So season 8? Why is it the best?"

"Damon." Elena said and took another step forward. "You know you can talk to me about anything." He didn't reply. He didn't look at her. He kept his eyes trained on the floor, like a child would if he was getting told off by his teacher. This time, it was Elena's turn to sigh.

"This is what you do Damon." She took another step closer. "You push people away. You never open up when people are trying to help you. I'm trying to help you Damon, don't you see that." Elena said. By this time, she was standing in front of him. "Look at me." She whispered just loud enough that he would hear. "Look at me." She whispered again and this time, he did. But as she opened her mouth to speak, the doorbell rang once more.

"Saved by the bell." Damon whispered and smirked at her. Elena shook her head and then it dawned on her exactly how close she was standing to him. She took a step back before making her way back to the front door.

A few minutes later, Elena had come back with two boxes of pizza. She placed them on the coffee table as Damon was about to press play on Friends. Before he could do so, Elena stormed over to the TV and immediately turned it off.

"No. We're not watching it until you tell me what's wrong Damon!" Elena said and took her stance. She wasn't letting him get away that easy. Elena may be small compared to Damon. She may not be as strong as him, but when she wanted to, she could be very convincing.

Elena and Damon had some sort of connection; an understanding. Elena's life over the last couple of years had been filled with sadness. She was in a place where she trusted only a limited number of people. And Damon had quickly become one of those people. She knew she could tell him her innermost thoughts and feelings. Elena Gilbert knew she trusted Damon Salvatore unconditionally.

"You really want to know?" He said angrily. Damon stood up and started walking towards her. He was starting to become impatient with her.

"Yes." Elena simply said and nodded. She was determined the find out, even if it meant Damon losing his temper, but she was keeping her stance.

"I confronted Stefan about you. I told him if he dared lay a finger on you again I'd kill him, Elena." Elena stayed quiet. She stood still, like her feet were glued directly to the ground. But she knew Damon well. She knew he needed to let his anger out. "I'm just so pissed off with him Elena. He hurt you." Damon continued. He paused, stuffed his hands in his pockets of his jeans and looked sadly at Elena. "He hurt you."

"I know he did Damon, but look at me." Elena pulled his face to look at her. "I'm fine" she whispered and reassuringly smiled at him.

Before Elena knew what was happening next, Damon's lips came crashing down on hers, and she reacted almost instantly. Her lips parted and within seconds, and soon enough his tongue was dancing with hers. Damon gripped her waist, bringing her closer and closer until their bodies were crushed against one another. Elena's hands made their way to his hair, tugging him closer and closer.

She kissed him like her life depended on it. And in that moment, Elena Gilbert felt free, like she could face her inner demons with no more worries. For the first time in a long time, she felt happy and invincible. All because of Damon Salvatore.

Damon's strong arms fitted perfectly around her small waist, easily lifting her up. Without missing a beat, her legs wrapped around his waist and her arms fell from his hair, to his neck, supporting herself up. Their lips never left each others. It was like a force was drawing them to one another and they couldn't break it.

Damon stepped back and the back of his legs hit her couch. This prompted him to sit which her straddling on his lap. His arms roamed over her back, pushing her even closer to him.

They stayed in this position for barely a couple of minutes, until the sound of a large gasp and items hitting the floor came to Damon and Elena's attention. Their lips immediately parted and their eyes turned to a very confused Caroline Forbes who was standing at the entrance to the living room with her mouth gaped open.

"What the hell is going on?" Caroline screeched. Elena jumped out of Damon's lap and stood awkwardly by the couch next to him. Caroline had her arms crossed over her chest. She was staring blanking at them, waiting for one of them to explain.

"What are you doing here Car?" Elena said.

"I bought popcorn and some romantic comedies. I thought we could have a girl's night since Jenna and Jeremy were out." Caroline paused for a moment before saying "I think you need to leave Damon."

"What?! No." Elena protested.

"No I think it's for the best Lena." Damon said and stood up. He sadly nodded at Elena before making his way past Caroline, who still had her arms folded over her chest, looking expressionlessly at Elena.

"I'll speak to you later." Elena said as Damon grabbed his jacket and departed the Gilbert house. Elena sighed and brought her attention back to Caroline. "What did you do that?" Elena frustratingly said.

"You and Stefan just broke up Elena. Like not even a week ago. And now you're locking lips and have your tongue down a guys throat. I'm sorry if I was freaking out because of that."

"Yeah we broke up because he hit me Caroline. I'm sorry if that wasn't a good enough reason for you!"

"He did what."

"You heard me." Elena said while picking up the cushions that she and Damon had knocked onto the floor. When Elena looked back up to Caroline, her expression had completely changed. Her arms were no longer crossed in frustration. Her mouth had shut itself. And she even looked partially sad.

"I'm sorry." Caroline whispered and looked down at the floor, ashamed of herself for making such an accusation. "Why didn't you say anything?"

"I don't know." Elena said and wiped a stay tear that had escaped. "You know me Care, I keep things to myself. I lock them away and hope I never have to face reality. But this is reality." Elena took a deep breath before letting her emotions overwhelm here. She sat down on the cold wooden floor and broke down in front of her best friend. "I can't do this anymore." Elena exclaimed. "It's too much." She sobbed as Caroline walked over and sat down next to her. She folded Elena into her arms and let her cry.

"You should have said something about Stefan, Elena. You shouldn't keep things locked away like that." Caroline whispered. "Does Damon know?" She continued and Elena lifted her head and nodded slightly.

"I went to him first. I was drunk and I knew he would comfort me and tell me everything would be okay." Elena said and cried some more.

"Well" Caroline started. "Even though I gave him a hard time, I'm glad he's there for you Elena and that you trust him."

"I do." Elena said.

"Then I'm happy for you. Even though I still think he's creepy for knowing who you are at that Grocery Store." Elena laughed.

"Yeah. I still need to figure that one out."

Author's Note: YAY DAMON AND ELENA KISSED. I've been planning this chapter for God knows how many months now. I wanted it to be perfect as you all have waited 10 chapters for this now! I hope you guys enjoyed this chapter. Please let me know what you think and your reactions and give your predictions for what will happen next. I love reading them all.

P.S I know I've been awful at uploading new chapters for this story, but family issues are taking priority over my life at the moment. I don't seem to have a spare minute of the day so it's taking me a lot longer to update. It takes me hours and hours to write what I'm happy with. And that includes writing, changing, re-writing, fixing and finally uploading. It takes a lot of time to get it perfect so you'll enjoy it. So please don't hate me if I take weeks (or months) to upload.

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed it. REVIEW.
