Ch. 10-Truths and Lies

We were training for the tournament and I thought how messed up that the loan shark was Roman Torchwick and Ryner didn't know. Star confided in me but I told Ryner that I thought of him as a brother. I didn't know what to do or say then I got nicked by Harwyn's bow. I tried to keep myself in training but I remember her with those twins Junior has hanging around him that Harwyn seemed to hate greatly. 'What was going on?' Ended up getting tackled by one of the doppelganger wolves Star unleashed.

We all went to the dorm and kept quiet till I spoke up. "Hey guys, we don't know much about each others lives. Why don't we share?" I said with a smile on my face. Ryner and Harwyn looked at me funny but Star said, "Sounds good to me Rai." Then Ryner and Harwyn looked at her funny. "So I'll go first, I wanted to become a hunter because I love adventure and fighting." I started out. 'Not to mention that I was going after Roman Torchwick for the death of my friend Mar.' "I'll go next, I wanted to be huntress for as long as I can remember. I think I want to be stronger than my brother since it seems like he always protects me," Star spoke up.
"I didn't know that. You have gotten stronger but I was born first remember?" Ryner told Star. "You won't always be there Ryner. You can't protect everyone," she said to him. "I could've protected dad if I was there Star." Ryner getting angry. "That's not what I meant," Star worried. Ryner kept quiet after that and Harywn took a couple breaths. "I chose to be a huntress for one reason and one reason only." Harwyn spoke and became silent. "May I ask what that reason is?" questioning her. She looked over us with murderous intent and said, "To kill those twins that hang out with Junior, Militia and Melanie."

I took Ryner out for a moment because he seemed to have some seriousness on his face. "Tell me what's going on with you. Something in you is eating you up. If you let it do that, there won't be much left of you to work out." I reassured him. "Would you listen to my secret without telling anyone else?" he asked me. "What is it Ryner? You can trust me." "I know the loan shark that caused problems for my family. Roman Torchwick, is a no good thug and I want him dead," he said with that same blood lust like Harwyn. "Why do you want to kill him? Let the authorities deal with him. I know I'd make sure he's locked up and throw away the key." I tell him. "You don't get it, he's the worst and people like that shouldn't live." Ryner still determined with his words. "Then there's nothing I can do but hope you see through your blind judgment."

We walked back and the rest of the evening was quiet after that. It seemed like there was some truths but the lies were affecting our teamwork. We were in class jotting notes while Ryu and Star messaged each other. Something was going on between the twins yet I don't know what was going on. The training had suffered a bit. "Violent chain!" I shouted out. Star swung her sword, I did the same while shooting a buck shot, then Ryner continued to fire and not let Harwyn end it. "Ryner? Ryner!" I shouted as he machine guns whirred and the bullets were finally out. "Yeah?" he answered me. "Ryner, you kept firing despite the fact that Harwyn was suppose to finish up with her arrows after you." "I forgot." Ryner said. "You forgot? Ever since that day, you've been lost man. Lets just work together on this instead of going solo," I told him and held out my hand to shake. Ryner slapped my hand away and walked off. Harwyn put his weapon back and left. Both of them were both fixated on their personal bloodlust.

I sat in the room of our dorm and waited for the others to come back. If we can share a common goal, maybe our team could be united again. Maybe putting Roman Torchwick and those twins that Harwyn holds great hatred towards. I don't know what to expect but we'll see how it turns out. That's when everyone walked in and they noticed me sitting on the end of my bed.

"I have a proposition for our team to get down to business. Just hear me out first." I started. I looked and saw all of their eyes on me. "My friend Mar, she was my best friend. Just like her, you all are my best friends. Losing one of you would make me regret unable to be your leader, no, your best friend," saying out to them. "You don't understand Rai. I have plans of my own." Ryner spoke up. I stood up and stared them down with an angry glare. "No, you don't understand! Torchwick does deserve death. None of us can be the executioner because how could you live with knowing you killed another human being?" Calming myself down and I gripped my chest. "Mar was being forced to recruit for Roman Torchwick. When she refused, one day, they came and kill her. I couldn't prevent her death but I said to myself. Torchwick will get the death penalty for this." Everyone was quiet and Harwyn broke that silence saying, "The death of the twins would be good enough for me." I let out an exasperated sigh by what they are sure of.

Before we all went to bed, Ryner came over to me. "You're not exactly the perfect brother." "First time you called me that. What's on your mind Ryner?" "Why was your friend being forced to be recruited?" he asked. "She could heal herself or others at will," I replied. "That is a blessed semblance," he answered. "Get some rest and take it easy. It's going to be a rough week for us."
