Ciel stared out the window. Nothing interested him anymore. It was about time for Sebastian's band to become famous. He won that freaking competition that's supposed to make people famous. The spell that made people love Ivaylo probably wore off. Humans must not like their type of music. It was tempting to go ahead and take his soul, but other demons frowned upon that. He properly went through a contract once, and he could do it again.
Ciel slapped himself. He hasn't even lived for two centuries and is already thinking like a low life. Being a rogue demon sounds good right now, but it lacked class. And would prevent him from getting proper rank in the demon social system. Yes, he needed as much class as possible. At this rate he would become a rogue demon.
Why does having a good social rank matter anyway? Nothing can judge them, so who cares what anyone thinks of him? There has to be a reason to why it matters. Whatever the answer will come soon enough. Ciel distracted himself by think about his Sebastian. He had a totally different situation than Ciel. If he did one thing wrong then the whole world would hate him. How exciting.
But it was also terrifying. For Sebastian anyway. Exciting for Ciel.
He was about to fall asleep, but Sebastian interrupted him, "Ciel, can I ask you something?"
Ciel lifted his head up and put his hands in his lap, "What is it?"
He walked out from the doorway to his bedroom, "I don't know if I should tell him," Sebastian started.
Was he talking about the contract again? "You mean Claude. He's in the other room, so if you don't want him to hear you then you should come closer," Ciel beckoned Sebastian over to the table he sat at.
Sebastian stood at the opposite end of the desk. He leaned in and whispered, "Should I tell him about our contract?"
"It's your choice."
He groaned, and stomped his foot, "Don't you have any idea what is best? How did other people react when they found out about the last one?"
Shouldn't you be old enough to make your own decisions?
Ciel took a deep breath, "There was a mix of reactions. Her parents were angry and started taking her to church, but her younger brother thought it was cool. Thankfully I warned him not to tell his parents and he listened, so nothing bad happened to him. But the most depressing reaction was from her best friend who never spoke to her again. I don't know how people will react, but you will ruin relationships. The best thing for you to do is see how superstitious Claude is."
"I see."
"So what are you going to do?"
He turned his back to Ciel, "I think I'll tell him later. He's dealt with a lot lately."
"Yeah, not everyone is able to understand why their lover made a deal with a demon," Ciel said to try and bring some humor in this conversation.
"What are you talking about?"
Ciel and Sebastian flipped their heads around and saw Claude emerging from his bedroom. Sebastian looked at Ciel and mouthed, "What do we do?'
"A book," Ciel answered, "A guy sells his soul to a demon, but doesn't know how to tell his lover." That sounds too much like Sebastian's situation. Oh well, no turning back now.
"You sure?" Claude walked to Sebastian and looked him in the eye," I think you're lying."
Sebastian put a hand on his hip, "Oh? What makes you think that?"
"I listened to your conversation."
"And?" Ciel asked.
"Who resurrected me?" Claude asked, looking at Ciel.
"Undertaker, the guy that nursed you to health did, not Ciel."
Good boy Sebastian. That is true. He had no part in this.
Wait why was keeping this a secret from Claude so important?
Simply because it's his duty. All of Sebastian's desires must be met for this contract to work. The more Sebastian trusts him the more power Ciel would have. The closer their bond the more power Ciel will generate until the ultimate betrayal when Ciel will eat Sebastian's soul.
Yes, that's exactly what Ciel needs. Everything has been boring lately. Both on Earth and in Hell. A soul will add spark to his being and stimulation for his brain. Soon everything will have meaning, and the world will regain its color. But for now all that mattered was Sebastian. That should be meaningful enough. He really needs to stop thinking about other things and focus only on his master. Maybe then he would feel less depressed or whatever this empty feeling was.
"So what exactly is Ciel doing here? I know you he isn't your friend," Claude said.
Ciel looked at Sebastian. Sorry all yours.
Sebastian forced his chin up, "I made a deal with a demon." That's all he said. Nothing about the deal. Nothing about the consequence.
Claude deadpanned, "He's gonna eat your soul right?" He whispered. Poor thing sounded like he was on the verge of tears. Way to go Sebastian.
"Yeah. He will."
Claude buried his hands in his face and sobbed, but didn't say a word. Ciel tried to run off to a different room, but Sebastian grabbed his arm.
"Stay."
Emotions always made the whole atmosphere feel uncomfortable. It reminded him that when he played with human minds and emotions that it made them feel pain. Part of Ciel loved that, but it still felt weird.

okay spring break is almost over. I'll try to post another chapter before the end of the month, but I need to study more ap tests and eois so no promises. My goal is to finish this fanfic before the start of June.
Anyway please tell me if there is anything that can improve my writing. Also how well do you think I portray these characters?
