DAY

"Take care, kid," tells me a dude who just pushed me on purpose. I roll my eyes. I could break him in pieces if I wanted to. This rich kids don't know what I know. They haven't fought to get some food.

I sigh as I open my locker. I promised my parents I wouldn't get in trouble. I'm trying so hard. At least, when June is here, I have company. Now that I'm alone they seem to bother me more, and since I'm bored, I want to hit them all.

I take my books and when I close my locker I see this guy staring at me, like if I was a piece of meat in front of a lion.

I frown, as he moves his glance off me. He passes a hand trough his curly hair and that's all.

"Daniel!" I turn around, trying to discover if I'm insane because I swear I just listened June calling me.

But I'm not insane. She's here. Running at me.

"June," I say surprised as she stops in front of me. "What is it? Is everything alright?"

"We need to talk. In a private place," she adds and I smile, my eyebrows go up. "Not like that."

"Let's go then."

I follow her and we stop in the field.

"It's on Tuesday. They'll take the medicine to the capitol. We have to do something," she tells me and I nod. "I mean, if you want to." And her excitement is gone. "I was thinking, what if something happens? I don't want you hurt or involved in something that is… Like mine." She makes a face. "I feel like this is my…"

"Do you think I'm going to let you go there alone? You must be out of your mind. And if I tell you I'm on this, is because I am and I will. I make my promises come true." Her eyes examine my face and she nods and looks at a side.

"Daniel," she starts, looks back at me. "Promise me this." I take a deep breath. "If something happens, you will run away with or without me. You have to be safe. This is none of your business and you're doing it because you… you appreciate me," she says, doubting if it is the right way to say it and I smile. Even if her promise is really stupid, because I wouldn't left her behind. Never.

"It'll be fine, don't worry."

She sighs. "Promise me."

"I won't promise something that I can't fulfill. I told you: I like to make my promises come true and I won't make that one." I turn around before she can reply.

"But Daniel—"

I turn around. "June, by the way, I don't appreciate you," I tell her and she looks confused. "I love you. Don't be an idiot, I won't leave you."

I wait for her to reply, but she doesn't say anything. It's not like if I was expecting something. I know the way June is.

I just walk away.

JUNE

While I enter to our class of fighting, Daniel's words are still repeating in my mind. He told me he loved me, and I didn't answer.

Do I love him?

I look over the place until I find him, hiding his long hair in a hat, while the teacher passes by. He said he wouldn't cut it, no matter what.

He's looking at the older guys hit each other, his arms crossed. He looks bothered about something. I guess the teacher didn't let him fight with older guys.

He looks around and when he finds me, a smile appears on his face. His blue eyes shine for a moment and I know it, I'm more than sure when my heart hurts of happiness just because he's here, looking for me.

I love him too.
