I know that it would be easier to find the zombies if I were a part of the army because they're attracted to the scent of blood, my robot suit will protect me from being bitten, and the cannon could knock down the zombies. The people who helped us lift the piano would probably be useful. If Eva joins our army we'll need Trent to play the guitar whenever she loses her temper. We'll need someone smart like Noah, Harold, or Camren. I begin writing the names of these people on the list. "Oh! Oh! Oh! Al! I wanna help! Pick me!" Owen says. "I guess we will need all the help we could get." I say. "Yes!" Owen shouts. "Count me in too! I love zombies. I wonder what brains taste like. I want to eat a brain. Can I eat your brain?" Izzy says. Maybe this was a bad idea. She was on my team in World Tour last year. I think she might be mentally unsound. I guess if we keep pointy objects away from her she'll be alright. "No. You may not eat my brain." I say. "I'll join your little army. But only to keep my little string bean safe." Lashawna says. "Maybe I should come too. I wouldn't want Tayler to get bit." Lindsay says. "My name is Tyler." Tyler says. "I don't know if I have what it takes. If I become a zombie I might hurt the animals." DJ says. I knew he would back out. DJ was always a bit spineless. We won't need him anyway. "I'll need something to shoot at the zombies. Something that could knock them down without killing them." I say. "I know just the thing." Geoff says opening the refrigerator. He takes out a bunch of pineapples and puts them inside the cannon. "Very funny." I say sarcastically. The robot suit I kind of hard to see in. I fire the cannon at the light bulb as a test shot. The light bulb breaks. Tiny bits of glass fall to the floor. "Show off." Heather mutters to herself. Dawn puts her arms into the air. Her fingertips shoot out beams of light. "Before you go I must warn you. The Blue Harvest Moon has an effect on the animals. The dangerous animals will be friendly. The small animals like rodents and birds will be extremely aggressive." Dawn says. Sam gives Lindsay the remote control to my robot. That might be a problem. There's no use worrying about it now. My army crawls into the pipe one by one. I make sure I get in before Owen just in case he gets stuck. Getting the robot suit into the pipe is a bit of a tight squeeze. "Hey! Al wait up!" Owen says trying to keep up. As I predicted, Owen got stuck. "Al! A little help here." I ignore him and keep moving. "Man down!" Brick says pulling Owen's arm. "Forget about him. We're running out of moonlight as it is." I say. "No! Never leave a man behind!" Brick says. "But it's Owen. Can't we leave him here just this once?" I ask. "NEVER!" Brick says trying to get Owen through the pipe. Getting Owen through this pipe would be like shoving Jupiter through a hole of a salt shaker. It's not going to happen. "He does have a point. Owen did bring you back from the dead." Harold says. Our army forms a line and pulls on Owen. Suddenly Brick lets go and we all get tossed back. Lindsay drops the remote on the ground breaking the control stick. "Now what do we do?" Heather asks. "Maybe Jo and Lightning could push the robot around." Trent says. "That's not a bad idea. But what are we going to do about Owen?" Tyler says. "Agh! Forget Owen. He'll only slow us down." Eva says losing her patience. I'm glad at least one of them have some logic. "Do what you want. I'm staying with Owen." Brick says. Let's see how noble he is when Owen decides to break wind. There's a faint light up ahead. "That moon looks amazing." Trent says staring up at the bright blue moon. "We're not here to look at the scenery. We need to get a move on." Heather says. "First thing's first. Let's make sure you don't transform into a full zombie." I say taking my helmet off and leaning towards Heather. "Yeah. Yeah. Whatever." Heather growls trying to resist me. I give Heather a kiss. "Now put your stupid helmet back on. I don't want to see your smug little face." "You're welcome." I say putting the helmet on my head. I hear the sound of someone rapidly stepping on crunchy leaves. A dark shadowy figure moves between the trees. "ZOMBIE! SHOOT IT! SHOOT IT!" Tyler screams climbing onto my helmet. I press the cannon button eight times. Finally one of the pineapples hit it. "It's me, Zoey. Mike has been bit. We need your help." Zoey says feeling the pineapple juice in her remaining pigtail. "The only way to turn him back is to kiss him under the blue moon." Lindsay says. "I can do that. Thank you so much for finding the cure." Zoey says. "Who else has been bit?" Lashawna asks. "Gwen, Blainly, and Duncan." Zoey says. "Gwen?" Trent asked sounding really concerned. "There's still time. Duncan and Gwen still haven't fully transformed. Follow me." Zoey says running up the hill where the cliff diving challenge was. "Can't you push any harder than that?" Jo asks moving the robot up the mountain. "Why? Are ya gettin' tired?" Lightning asks. "No!" She says trying to hold in her panting. "This is easy sha-peasy for Lightnin to handle." Lightning brags. The others are waiting for us at the top. "We found the cure." Zoey says. "What is it? We need to hurry. Gwen's skin is already starting to turn green." Mike says. "You need to kiss a human under the blue harvest moon." Jo says. "I call Gwen." Trent says. Zoey kisses Mike and Gwen kisses Trent. Nobody wanted to kiss Duncan so Heather, Lashawna, and Lindsay battled it out in a game of rock paper scissors. Heather and Lashawna chose scissors and Lindsay picked rock. "That's how we roll!" Lashawna says giving Heather a high five. "Sorry, Tayler." Lindsay says kissing Duncan. "Now all we have to do is find Courtney, Ezekiel, and the hosts." Scott says. "If you think I am going to kiss those freaks you have another thing coming. I am so not doing that. " Heather says. What a relief. The sound of something barreling up the hill takes my attention away from Heather. All of the zombies are heading my way. Their bloodshot eyes stare into the shiny chrome of my robot suit. I fire the pineapple cannon at the zombies one by one. They rise off the ground moaning ominously. I back away slowly trying to get a better aim. Blainley slips in a puddle of pineapple juice and falls face first into a bush. Chris and Courtney lunge on me. The robot suit gets pushed back closer to the edge of the cliff. If I fall I'll either land on the sharp rocks or into the shark infested sea. I can get electrocuted or even drown. I hear my suit clanking as the zombie's pound on my helmet. I fire my final pineapple at Zeke. Blainley rams into me pushing back the robot suit. I quickly press the eject button to escape from the robot suit. The compartment door opens making a ramp. Before I can crawl out the automatic door clamps shut on my leg. I grab onto the ledge while in midair. The machine's weight starts to drag me down towards the water crushing my bones into dust. Chris leaps onto me and bites my neck. I feel his clammy hands rake against my skin. Heather throws a rock at him. He lets go falling off the cliff into the water. There's a long pause before the splash. Mike scrambles over to me. There's no way I can hold on any longer. "Grab my hand. Hurry!" Mike says. The last time he helped me up after nearly falling off of something he tried to kill me right after. I look down at my legs dangling above the waves below. I see Mike's reflection on the side of the robot…not Mike, Mal. "Trust me! I won't let you fall." Mike says. My grip loosens and I fall into the cold water. The crevices of the robot suit fill up with water making it even heavier. My leg from the knee down starts to lose its circulation. Electricity courses through my body as I run out of air. I see someone swimming under the murky water. The person pries the door open and frees my leg. I am dragged up to the surface. "You okay, amigo?" Scott sputters. I nod while coughing up salty water. "Come on. Your blood is attracting… Shh….shh…shhshhshssh…" Scott says. Before he can finish his sentence a dorsal fin appears out of the water coming right toward us. "SHARKS!" I'm starting to panic too, but then I remember that Dawn said that dangerous animals would be friendly in The Blue Harvest Moon. I hope she's right. Scott swims franticly away from Fang. Fang out speeds Scott, opens his mouth, and licks him right in the face like a dog would. Scott looks like he's about to pee his pants. I pat Fang on the head. "What are you doing? He's tasting us." Scott yells backing away from the shark. Fang dives under the water and underneath us. "Wait! Where'd he go! Something brushed up against my foot!" Scott says. Fang gives us a ride to shore. After doing so, he smiles at us and waves goodbye. I've never ridden a shark before. I guess Justin isn't the only person who can charm a shark. Scott is so startled that he can't even move. Cold water runs down my neck stinging the bite mark. I sit up out of the sand. Before the others can get to me they are attacked by an angry flock of seagulls. They work together as a team to try to fight off the feathered balls of rage. The seagulls suddenly stop attacking. The moon's bright blue glow starts to fade away. Time is running out. "I'm sorry. My power has been worn out. It must have been from when I showed you the past. There is nothing I can do." Dawn says telepathically. The full moon turns back to white. Heather rushes to my side. "Are you okay? Say something. What happened? Are you hurt?" Heather says nudging me. I guess while Scott and I went on our little joyride with the sharks the others have turned the other zombies to normal since they don't seem to be attacking anybody anymore. "I've been bit." I whisper laying my head on my lap. I won't see my friends, my family, my dog, or Heather for fifty years. What if I don't live that long? What if I turn someone else into a zombie? I'll be on this Island alone for fifty years. I thought being trapped alone in a robot suit for a year was unbearable. By the time I get turned back my parents will be dead. My dog Chica will be dead. Heather might even forget who I am, forget to turn me back, marry someone else, and have children. By the time I will be able to turn back I'll be almost seventy years old. "What are we going to do? You can't be a zombie for fifty years." Heather says tearing up. "Just stay away from me." I sigh as I push her away. The others console Heather and give me my space. A few minutes later Duncan comes up to me. "I'm sorry I punched you." Duncan says. "If it weren't for you Courtney, Gwen, and I would be zombies. Is there anything I can do to make it up to you?" Duncan asks. I stare up into the sky wishing the moon would turn blue again. There's no hope for that now. "Kill me with your pocket knife." I say somberly. "What? No way. I can't do that." Duncan says. "I'm just going to die anyway. Come on. Now's your chance to show everyone that you're not a big softy." I say. "I don't want them to think I'm a murderer either. That's when I draw the line. It's cool to be tough, but sometimes it's okay not to be hardcore too." Duncan says. "You know what…" Duncan says taking out his pocket knife. He tosses it into the ocean. "I don't need this anymore. I'm going to turn my life around like you did… While I still can." He says. The skin around my teeth mark begins to turn a pale green color. "You all need to get off this island." I say. "You're right." Duncan says looking at all the boats at the dock. Everyone else gets on the boat. Even Scott got on the ship without fear. I guess nobody broke the news to him that Fang was only being nice because of the moon. "I'll come back for you in fifty years." Heather sobs as the boat sails away. She's not even gone yet but I still feel empty inside.
