The95Will: Thanks man! And really the whole "Protector" thing is because the T-Virus had basically initiated a bond between the two, so he's going to make sure he can do everything to protect the one who he bonded with. It also doesn't help that he had a "Save Everyone!" Attitude to begin with, which really began showing after Raccoon City. And yes, Wesker can definitely make any situation go from bad to FUBAR. And again thank you. And honestly, I can be stubborn, just when it comes to certain situations, I won't. I guess we just have to let time work its magic. And I do too.

Supboyyyyy93: Haha, ask and he shall receive! The next chapter is here!

Chapter 9: Progress Made!

We all hopped down the vent, and had approached the lift, and Jill had inserted the key and turned it, and we heard the sound of an engine starting up. Lights on the nearby panel lit up, and the light beside the lever, turned on, and was green. I pulled the lever, and with that we all descended.

"Everyone ready to walk into the gaping jaws of Hell?" Parker asked reloading his Government handgun, and cocking it. I chuckled as I popped three .357 rounds into the three empty chambers of my M629C. I re-closed the box, and pocketed the ammo.

"I am. I'll scout ahead." I said as I jumped over the railing everyone's eyes widening. I felt the wind whipping at my face, as I then grabbed onto the wall, and then let go, having a nice little drop, which wasn't too high. Perfect. I unholstered my P226, and took a look around the area. There was nothing around. I then opened the nearby door, and blinked. Infront of me was a bunch of pipes, and a ladder.

"Weird..." I said as I then jumped down, and landed in water. I jumped up with a yelp. The water was unnaturally cold. Then I felt freezing cold air on me. Shit! Cold water, and freezing air? Great. Hypothermia if I recall correctly. I quickly bolted out of the room, and into the control room. Still cold. Not much better than before. I then heard a loud screech. The lift is here.

"Anything ahead Vincent?" Parker asked. I chuckled.

"Yeah, freezing cold water, and freezing cold air." I said as I shivered pressing a button.

"Really?" Jill asked in disbelief. I heard the sound of a door opening, and two screams. Then a quick slam.

"N-Never mind..." Rachael chattered out. I inhaled, and exhaled, my breath visible infront of me.

"I'll run on through this area guys. You stay there okay?" I said.

"No promises." Raymond said as I chuckled. I then sighed as I looked around, finding a nearby locker. I pulled open the locker, the door coming off as I did. Inside was a new wetsuit...this one looked to be much thicker than mine. I then hastily looked at the size and cursed. Too small...also a woman's size. So either Rachael or Jill.

"Shit...I'm going through cold then." I growled as I opened the door, the freezing cold air hitting me again. I then charged through...and was then suddenly attacked by some sort aquatic creature. I screamed loudly as I landed in the cold water. I let out a gasp, cold water filling my lungs, as the creature choked me. It let out a set of sounds, which sounded like...a siren's song. I then found enough energy to kick the creature, which went into the land and screeched. I then went to it, and saw it had gills. Gills? I grinned and slightly grimaced as I approached the creature and then tore a chunk out of its neck, blood spraying out as it screeched quietly. I chewed the meat and grimaced as I swallowed. I then felt the air warm up some, and I felt my neck moving slightly. Gills...body heat...I bet you I also had the ability to swim amazingly well now too.

"Vincent!" Rachael said as she ran to me. I blinked and I hugged her tight as she nuzzled into my neck. I guess she felt my newfound gills, and she jumped back and screamed.

"What the...?" Parker started as I chuckled pointing to the carcass of the now dead creature. I inhaled slowly and exhaled, the gills moving as I did.

"That's...weird but cool at the same time..." Rachael said as she poked my gills. I let out a strange sound that sounded like I was poked in the throat.

"Oh my God! Are you okay?" Rachael asked in surprise. I nodded inhaling more and exhaling. That actually hurt, oddly enough. I then felt the gills seal up and my temperature lower some. Pretty cool, but not my cup of tea. I shivered violently as I then took some mouth wash, and cleaned out my mouth thoroughly. We continued forward, Parker blasting away another of the creatures, which I decided would best be called Sea Creepers, or Creepers for short. We opened the door at the end of the narrow hall, and I held a tight grip on my handgun. I heard movement, and the smell of Ooze hit me full force. Yuck...

"Ooze at your 10!" Parker said, as I covered my nose, my handgun coming up as I fired two shots into its soft, jelly-like head. It then groaned and dropped to the ground, the smell going away. Beside me was a giant tank of some sort, infront of me was another room...but steam was going off infront of the entrance. I was not going to attempt going through there, not by a long shot...I'd probably end up scalded and blistered. As we opened the door to the next room, I closed it quickly, seeing a shadow fly towards the door. It hit it with a solid thump and we heard the slow squeaky descent off the steel. I held back a snicker hearing it as I then kicked the door open, then hearing a sickening crunch. I cringed and all movement stopped. I saw heads bobbing slowly above the water, watching. Shit. A school of T-Virus infected fish. As they began swimming towards me, I heard a whoosh from behind, then an explosion in the middle of the school, blowing all the fish apart, pieces landing everywhere. I grimaced as I stepped over what looked to be a liver, and continued forward. I then spied a green object. I then grabbed the small green and looked at it in curiosity, then surprise. The green object was a green plant of a sort, and smelt just as bitter as I remember it. A Green Herb. And taking notice of a small object beside it, I had picked it up as well. A key of some sort possibly.

"A Green Herb? All the way out here?" I said as Jill came over blinking, inspecting the plant. She took one of the small leaves and popped it into her mouth and chewed it. Her face contorted into one that showed she didn't like the taste, but had swallowed it anyway.

"Ugh...bitter like always..." She commented quietly as I grinned.

"It's not that bad Jill, I bet you had a lot of wounds and scrapes during your escape, and had your fair share of these." I chuckled as she sighed, knowing I was right. I opened one of the waterproof hip pockets, and placed it in a small Ziploc bag, and pocketed it. At the very least, we now had a way to keep wounds from becoming infected, and could help heal them.

A Green Herb had strong medicinal capabilities. It could help heal a deep slash within minutes, if not less than half an hour. Add a Red Herb, and you had an extremely potent medicine, though the herb/herb mixture was a paste.

I've heard things about people smoking the herbs...though I'm sure they'd be good for clearing out your lungs, just the wounds we got, were always on the outside...though how they got all the way out here, I don't understand. They only grew as far as I knew around the Raccoon/Arklay regions. No where else. Maybe someone was importing them...? It's possible because not all of the Arklay mountains were destroyed. So there would sure enough still be some there...unless...they have a lab here. I then chuckled to myself. That was a stupid thought. Hiding a lab on a ship? Haha, come on they couldn't!

"Yeah...anyway, lets continue." Jill said as I nodded gently touching the other door. I heard stirring, and sighed. More of them. I then opened the door, and leapt across the door, a Creeper leaping by. I turned and brought out my foot, catching it in the stomach, slamming it against the wall, making it screech loudly it squirming. Then the Creeper stopped moving, and I moved my leg away, and it dropped into the water, the body floating, blood leaking out from its mouth. Dead. I sighed as I put my foot back down, my body shaking.

"Where now?" Rachael asked as I closed my eyes leaning to left door. I heard steam hissing and sighed. The right side it was then. We went through the gated door, and up the stairs, and left into the door. A control room of some sort. Infront of us was a control panel, with a blue and yellow key of some sort inserted.

"Hmm...Vincent, can you make it across?" Parker asked as I prepped a jump. Then as I began to jump, I stumbled. I grabbed the railing and it bent under my strength. I then slowly stood, and tried moving. I stumbled again, and gripped the wall tight. Ugh dammit! Looks like I wasn't going anywhere.

"Shit...looks like the long way around then." Parker said as I nodded with a sigh.

"I'm sorry guys." I said apologetically with a frown. I felt a pat on my shoulder, and turned to see Rachael there smiling some.

"It's not your fault Vincent. You've been working really hard, harder than any of us...take a break, relax, and heal." Rachael said as I nodded. I chuckled internally. Doctors orders. She then kissed my cheek as she turned to Jill who smiled and nodded.

"Alright ladies, we need to get over there...that's strange..." Parker said as I raised an eyebrow.

"What is?" Jill asked as I then blinked. I then felt it.

"Heat. The heats on in here...and it's getting hotter." I said beginning to stand up. I gripped the wall tight, the metal bending.

"Ugh..." Rachael said as she felt the heat hitting her full blast. I then stood gritting my teeth. I grabbed a railing pipe, and tore it off, just like my father...I shook my head, no time for memories now! I then took a running leap to the other side and rushed to the control panel, and looked at where the key should be. Not there! I looked at the indent, and then at the pipe. But then I remember the object I picked up, in my pocket. I then had squeezed the metal between my palms, it becoming completely flat. I hissed some, feeling the heat become more intense. I had pulled the key out of my pouch, and had then fit the key into the keyhole, and had began generating electricity...this time I would need a LOT more. And as soon as my heart was beating like a jackhammer I looked to Parker who with a nod, had turned his key, as did I, as I then touched the panel, the electricity discharging throughout the panel, starting it up instantly. Why did I charge the panel? The lights were barely on...so at the very least, I gave it some energy. The heat then shut off, and a map of the Zenobia to the right of me had several blips which began to light up green.

"Yes! We-" Rachael's little victory dance was cut off as water began flowing into the room via shaft. And it was at this time that I had dropped to the floor, the pipe falling through a hole. My vision slowly grew darker, and darker.

"Vincent!" Jill shouted as she made her way over to me, the second one turning on as well. I saw the water getting closer and closer...my eyes then fully closed, and I had lost consciousness.

"Boss...we still haven't heard anything from Jill, Vincent, or Parker yet...I'm getting worried now." Quint, codenamed "Jackass" said to headquarters with a frown on his face, as he tapped away at the planes computer, finding the position of the Zenobia.

"I know...I'm getting worried myself..." O'Brian replied his voice filled with worry.

"I got it!" Quint suddenly shouted as his partner-in-crime Keith, or "Grinder", jumped.

"You have their position?" O'Brian asked as he got an affirmative from Quint. "Good, send the coordinates, I'll transfer them to Chris, Vincent, and Jessica."

"Yes sir!" Quint said as he began sending the coordinates to his boss...then a gunshot was heard in the distance and both turned, Keith ready with his G36, Quint holding his own G36, close-by. He finished sending the document, and had turned off the computer looking to Keith who now had a hardened look on his face. They both ran out of the front of the plane, and then saw a woman, wearing BSAA attire on the ground, a Hunter not too far infront of her.

"Hey you big green lizard!" Keith shouted to the creature who stopped and turned towards the duo, then to the woman, as if contemplating who would be better to kill first. Her, just because it saw her, or the duo because the one called it a lizard. It brought a claw to its chin, and then turned to the woman...but if it was paying attention, it would have noticed the duo slowly making their way closer to it.

"Hey Scales!" Quint shouted this time making the Hunter turn and leap. Though, it had caught the blade of a knife instead in the throat and it let out a strangled cry, as its arms were pinned down. Then a single bullet went through its head.

"Phew..." Keith sighed in relief as he wiped a head of sweat from his forehead. Quint then walked over to the woman and offered her a hand. She smiled and took his hand as he helped her up. He smiled in return and then looked over her. Her hair was a darkish shade of brown, her eyes green like a cat, and she wore a BSAA tech uniform.

"T-Thank you..." She said a slight blush on her face. She holstered her Colt M1911.

"I wouldn't have let you die." Quint said with a very slight blush on his own face. He thought the woman was attractive.

"I'm Emily. Or as I'm known by my codename, "Red"." She said with a smile. Quint chuckled.

"Pleased to make your acquaintance madam. I'm Quint...or Jackass." Quint said with a sigh.

"Why Jackass?" She raised an eyebrow, as both he and Keith laughed. Apparently there was a story behind this.

"It's a long story. We're on our way back to the drop point, it'd probably be best if you came with. We'll tell you then." Quint said as she nodded, and they all made their way back to the building.

"I can tell you're interested." Keith whispered over to Quint who blushed lightly.

"Er...um..." Quint stuttered out as Keith chuckled.

"I think she is too. She had the same blush you did. This is your chance! Take it slow though." Keith said as he stretched.

"I know. I'm not going to screw this up." Quint said, mainly to reassure himself.

"Chris, Jessica, Alex, come in!" O'Brian said speaking into the microphone.

"Yes sir?" Jessica replied. There was the sound of a helicopter's blades whirring in the background.

"We have the coordinates to the Zenobia!" O'Brian said as there was a round of cheers from the team. He chuckled.

"That's great sir! Send them to us and we'll be over there ASAP!" Chris said as O'Brian chuckled and nodded.

"Roger that Chris." O'Brian said as he disconnected the line. He then began sending over the coordinates. He then ran a hand through his hair, and eyed his glass cabinet, with wines, and other alcohols in there. He sighed as he took out a shot glass, and a bottle of Jack Daniels and poured it into the shot glass. He closed his eyes, and drank the shot, the liquid warming him some. As he then opened his eyes, he stared at the bottle, then at his hands.

"I'm...not going to become that man. Not ever again." O'Brian said to himself as he put the bottle back in the cabinet, and locked it, tossing the key into his drawer, whispering to himself once again. "For their sake...for the sake of the others...I am not going to become...Him...never again."
