I meant to update sooner, but I didn't have the chapter done as soon as expected. But it's here now. Thanks to all you reviewers, followers, people that read this, etc. you all seriously make my day.

Disclaimer: Ally Carter owns all of this stuff.

I awoke at the crack of dawn. The sky was a deep blue, but on the horizon there was a gold line that faded out to the blue. It was absolutely mesmerizing. I changed into a shiny black Jolyn and quietly walked out the door.

I walked down to the beach and sat at the edge of the water. I watched as the sky turned pink and yellowish orange. Eventually I heard someone sit next to me. I didn't turn my head and just stared straight ahead.

"It's amazing isn't it?" I asked the person next to me.

"Yeah, I guess it is," he replied. I assumed it was Macey, she was always an early riser. I turned to find Zach staring at the sky next to me.

I am going to put what happened next like this. There was something about seeing Zach like that, his eyes glazed over like he was remembering something from the past, his peaceful laid back posture. Basically everything about him in that moment that made it seem like I was just a normal girl with a normal boy and I felt safe. And so, that is why I scooted closer to Zach and leaned on his shoulder. He looked at me and we sat looking at each other with the water lapping at out feet and started leaning in.

I felt my eyes slowly start to close, but they snapped open when I was splashed with a bunch of water. A smiling Camille stood in front of us. "Oh, sorry was I interrupting something," she said with a sickly sweet tone.

"No, I was just leaving," I told her just as Zach was starting to say, "Yeah kind of."

I got up to go back to my room to read. I thought I saw a flash of sadness go through Zach's eyes as I got up, but ignored it. It probably wasn't there anyways.

As I made my way back to my room, I crashed into Macey. "There you are Cammie! I have been looking everywhere for you. We need to get you ready for today. Why the hell are you so wet. Great now I have to-" i tuned her out as I followed her up to my room to change.

I was met by a tight striped black and white shirt, my favorite leather jacket, super skinny jeans, and combat boots. "Well someone's in a good mood today."

"What can I say, I'm just a giving person."

I rolled my eyes and put on the clothes. She slightly curled my hair and put it in a pony tail. I smiled at her and got out of the chair, but she pushed me back into it. It took about ten minutes for her to finally get all the make up on my face. Yes, it made me look great, but I still don't like wearing it, I'm the Chameleon for a reason.

"Macey, you know what I said about you being generous today?"

"Mhm."

"I take it back," I said with a smirk.

"Wait do that again."

"What? This," I said and put on the ugliest face I could muster.

"No you idiot. Smirk again."

"Um okay. Isn't this kind of weird." I smirked for her.

"Yes! Holy mother of Jesus! You look so badass right now. Wow, it's amazing. This is great, this could change your hole wardrobe ya know?" Macey told me smiling.

"Uh, what? Macey it's one face it can't be a whole wardrobe change."

She gasped, "Just a face? Oh honey you have so much to learn. Don't worry I won't confuse your pretty head by explaining it. I won't change your whole wardrobe though. Do you know how long that would take, I don't have that kind of time when I'm planning my revenge on you, crushing your team into oblivion-did I mention that my team is winning, which means we are wining this war- and getting you and Zach together. No! That would take days, so we're just gonna do this today and tomorrow you'll go back to usual."

I shook my head, "First of all, you are not wining. Second, come on I'm hungry." I dragged her down stairs to eat.

After everyone had eaten Mr. Solomon showed up to take us to the location of our next competition. I remembered how Macey said they were wining both the competitions and the war, whatever she meant by that, and there was no way she was gonna win this competition.

There was a big grey building that had the words Slaughter House on the front of it in red and it looking somewhat like blood if you really tried to make it look like blood in your head. Mr. Solomon turned suddenly, stopping everyone in their tracks, "Blake. Your team first. Grab a weapon from that bin over there and wait until I come back. Cammie's team, follow me."

We started following him as we took a tour of the place. We went through a hallway with about five doors. He opened one to show us what was inside. There was a dummy wearing a shirt that said "civilian" on it sitting in a chair tied up and gagged. We walked to the end of the hallway and it opened up to a larger room that had one of those metal catwalks around the second floor looking down on the room.

We traveled to the second floor and looked in the room. There were dummies attached to bombs and tied up and practically anything you can imagine when someone is being held hostage. Some of them even had blood on them!

After having seen every inch of the building, we reached a crate. He opened it to find a bunch of weapons. "Everyone take one. Your mission is to shoot everyone on the other team before they have saved all the civilians by killing you. They are being timed to see now long it takes to save all the civilians, then it will be your turn."

Then he walked away to go tell the other team he deal. I walked over to the crate and grabbed a handgun. Liz grabbed a bunch of techy bombs and a sniper. Bex grabbed a handgun like mine, she tucked it into her waistband. She was always one for more close up stuff anyways.

I've been sitting in my room guarding this stupid civilian for 3 minutes. I'm on the first floor how hard can it be to check all the rooms. I got out of my spot sitting in the corner. I was about to open the door when the handle started jiggling.

I heard Zach's voice on the other side, "I'll check this room, you guys search the second floor. Hit anyone you see. And do not hesitate."

The door flew open and Zach was standing there looking all heroic. I guess he didn't see me in the corner because he went straight to the dummy and started untying it.

After he had untied the arms and legs, I stepped out with a smirk. "I kinda have to do this." Then I shot him in the leg and another in the chest.

He started bleeding where I had shot him. I got really freaked out and bent down to help him. When I touched his wound I took my hand back and realized it was paint. "Aww, were you worried about me?" Zach said with his usual cockiness.

"No," and I shot him and the arm. I opened the door turned back with a smirk, "Sorry, not sorry." Then I closed the door to wait in the room down the hall.

Bex was there already. There were two people in the corner that had red paint all over their arms and chest. "Really Bex? Did you have to shoot them so many times?" She shrugged with a devious smile.

"Whatever. How many are upstairs. We have 9 down here," I said into my comms.

"6," Cooper informed me.

I went back to my original post to find Tina trying, and failing to cut open the ropes tying up the dummy. I smiled and raised my gun to shoot her. I felt something solid against the side of my head.

Blake's voice was barely a whisper and it sent chills throughout me. "Let the girl save the dummy. Okay Love?" I nodded my head as I watched Tina finish off the last dummy.

A cannon went off signaling them being done. "Congratulations Blake's team you finished with a time of 26:48.73. Sadly if you took that long during a mission they would all be dead within 15. 10 minutes to plan. Exit the Slaughter House while it is getting set up," Mr. Solomon told us.

°_° =_= *_* $_$ _ ~_~ [._.]

I had my gun in hand and was waiting at the Slaughter House doors. Grant being Grant made us all put war paint on our faces because we had a bunch of time after we planned. To be exact, 15 because it turned out that it took longer than 10 minutes to set up a house so it looks like there are a bunch of hostages.

A bell sounded telling us we were free to save the "hostages." I slipped silently through the door. I open the first door of the hallway. Anna and Nick were sitting there with their guns aiming at the door. I shot them before they could react and quickly untied the dummy.

Bex was waiting for me when I exited the room. There were two people in front of her. One had red paint splattered all over them. The other had one splatter on their back and a bunch of bruises on their face and arms and I'm assuming their stomach too. I rolled my eyes and started down the hall again.

The drill went about the same for three more doors except Bex wanted to go and save the hostage, so I got the boring job of watching the door.

"Chameleon and Duchess are on the last door of our wing," I told my team through my comms.

"All clear here. Oh by the way, this is Chica," Tina said.

"Sparrow's areas clear."

"Three more rooms to check in Blade's area."

"Okay good. Chica, you and your team help Blade."

"Copy that."

I turned to Bex who was about to open the door to the final room. I sent her the Morgan Glare. She immediately backed off and told me that I could have to last room.

When I opened the door Zach was sitting in the corner smirking. "Why hello Gallagher Girl. Remember me?"

I was about to question him calling me "Gallagher Girl" when he shot me. He bent down next to my face and said, "Sorry not sorry."

A gunshot went off behind us and Zach was whipped around only to get punched in the face. "No one shoots my best friend." Even though I was supposed to be "dead," I couldn't help but let out a giggle.

Bex ripped out the red wire on the bomb connected to the dummy and turned back around triumphantly. "See Cam, I told you I should have been the one to check this room." She walked out of the room to go check on the other groups, but personally I think it was to leave me and Zach alone.

I turned off my comms. "Did you really have to shoot me in the shoulder? This is my favorite jacket," I complained to him.

"Uh yeah, I kinda did Gallagher Girl."

"Seriously Gallagher Girl? Could you not come up with something more creative. I'm a girl and I go to Gallagher Academy. You just mashed the two together."

"Hey, don't get mad. Do you know how hard it is to come up with a name in the spur of the moment? It is damn hard if you don't."

"Fine whatever."

We sat in silence for a few more minutes. Eventually the cannon went off signaling my team's finish. "Congratulations, you just lost. Your time was a whopping 26:52.94. If everyone would exit the building, that would be much appreciated."

I let out a sigh. "Aww. Gallagher Girl, are you upset that my team won yet again?"

"You do know that this means war, right Goode?"

I never got a response because Bex had come up behind me with Liz and Zach walked away. "With something named something as fun as the Slaughter House, it is so bloody terrible.".

I laughed. Yeah, Bex would be the one to love the Slaughter House.

that's it. And as I write this I am about to write the next chapter. If I'm lucky I will be able to get it up by tomorrow and I have a bunch of time to write this week so I might get a third chapter in this week too. Review and all that stuff. Thanks for reading.
