Dragonborn Training

Marine's POV

"Uhh…" I moaned softly. "Damn, what happened?" I questioned myself before moving my right to rub my pounding head.

Wait…there's something else on my head. It feels smooth almost like a bandage, but I'm not sure. I slowly open my blue eyes to see of sure, but as I did my gaze was looking up at the stoned ceiling above me.

"What the hell?" I pushed myself up, ignoring my head injury as I did. "Wait, what am I sleeping on?" I look down at the thing I'm sitting on, which was a stone bed.

'How the hell did I get on a bed? And...' I looked around my surroundings to see stone walls, floors, and stone markings on the walls. 'Where am I?'

Hold let me recap this; stone building, stone bed, bandage on my head, and markings on the walls. Where have I seen this place before? Yes, I know I'm still in Skyrim, but what's the name?

"Well, it seems that you have awoken, young one." I jumped at the random voice coming out of nowhere.

I turn to my right to see a man in a dark grey robe and hoodie with a long grayish beard standing beside me, a tray of food in his hands. There's something familiar with this guy, but I don't know what.

"I can see that you are wondering where you are, correct?" He says.

"Yeah, and who are you?" I ask him.

"Oh yes, where are my manners? I am Master Arngeir, the speaker of the Greybeards and you are in High Hrothgar." He tells me.

I stare at him for a good two minutes thinking how retarded I was right now. How the fuck did I forget about him and this place!? I face palm myself for being stupid.

"Ouch! Ow, ow, ow, ow!" I cried, forgetting that my head was hurting.

Arngeir placed the tray on the bedstead before removing my hand from my forehead.

"I would not hit my head too hard if I was you. It will only make the pain worst." He then examines my head. "You and your companions are quite lucky. If we had not healed you back to health after that barbaric troll attack, it would be a possible chance that you two would die."

'Companions!' shock and fear had washed on my face as I remembered my cousin and housecarl. 'Oh no, Glacier! Lydia!'

"Arngeir, where are they? Where is my cousin and housecarl!?" I yelled, worry in my voice.

"Calm yourself, child. Your housecarl is asleep on Master Einarth's bed." He points to the bed across from me, Lydia sleeping soundly on it.

"What about cousin?"

"She is sleeping in Master Borri's bed." I look to my right to see Glacier asleep. "Why are there bandages on her?"

"When you were in an unconscious state, your relative here was attacked by a Frost Troll." Arngeir said. "Her injuries were severe; there were bruises on her back and chest, not only that she coughed up a small amount of blood. But praise Kynareth, she is recovering."

I sighed in relief after hearing that. Cause I don't know what I'd do if she died before we had a final battle with the World Whore. For those who don't know, that's Alduin. Hmm, should I wake her up? Hell yeah!

With a wicked grin on my face; I took a sweet roll of the tray on the bed side, got off of the stone bed, and tip-toed around Glacier's sleeping form till I was on her left side. Arngeir was looking at me, curious of what I was about to do. When I was on Glacier's left with the sweet roll in my right hand, I raised it into the air above her face. Right when I was about to smash it into her face, Glacier's hand gripped my wrist stopping my assault to code her cake. My twin's eyes shot open to look at me before turning into one of her well-known death glares.

"Marine, I swear…to God! If you smash that cake on my face…I will kick your ass back to Whiterun! I ain't playing." I try to hold back my laughter, but I can't.

"Hahahahahahahahaha!" I fell to the ground laughing my ass off.

Glacier rolled her eyes at me, while Arngeir looked at us in confusion. After a few good minutes of laughter, for me, I got back up and whipped the tears out of my eyes before looking at both of them.

"By the way, Glacier this is Arngeir. He's the speaker of the Greybeards." Glacier sat up on the bed to look at Arngeir. "He and the other Greybeards were treating your injuries when you were asleep."

"Thank you, Master Arngeir." She said to him.

"You're welcome." He bows to us. "Now, I would like to ask you girls a question. Why are you here?"

"We were answering your summoning." Glacier answers.

"We? Are you girls Dragonborn?"

"Yeah, that's why we came here." I said.

Arngeir closed his eyes for a moment. Thinking on whether or not he believes us. But to my knowledge, I know he will ask us to demonstrate the Thu'um to him and the others. Arngeir reopened his grey eyes; he stared at us for a second before opening his mouth to talk.

"We will see if you girl bare the gift. Come with me." I helped Glacier off the bed, and then followed Arngeir to the mediation room.

Once we were there, the other three Greybeards were waiting for us. Arngeir walked to the stairs, while Glacier and I went in the middle of the platform.

"If you girls are Dragonborn, then let us taste your voices. Shout at us, we can handle it."

"Okay." I turned to my twin cousin. "On the count of three we shout."

She nodded to me.

"One…two…three." We counted.

"Fus!" We shouted our Thu'um at the monks. They stumbled back a bit before regaining their stances.

"Dragonborns, you are here. Welcome to High Hrothgar." All of the monks bowed to us in respect.

'Now I know how Royals feel like.' I smiled at them, feeling like a princess.

"Thank you." Glacier says. "Arngeir, I have knowledge that the Greybeards are the Masters of the Voice and all. But, how exactly do you help us?" Glacier inquires.

"We are to guide you girls in this pursuit, just like the previous Greybeards have sought to guide those of the Dragon Blood before you." Arngeir answers her question.

"Before us? So, there were other Dragonborns? We're not the only ones?"

"Yes, there have been many with the Dragon Blood since Akatosh first bestowed that gift upon mankind." He explains. "Whether you two are Dragonborns or not…it's not in our nature to know. You girls are the only ones who have been revealed. That is all I can say. "

"Okay, we're only Dragonborns alive…blah blah blah! Can we learn some new shit now?" I ask him.

"Marine!" Glacier yells at me.

"Patience, Dragonborn. You both possess the inborn gift, but do you have the discipline and temperament to follow the path that will lead you to your fate? That has yet to be seen. Without training, you girls have already taken the first step to projecting your Voices into a Thu'um."

"We will learn what you have to educate, Master Arngeir." My cousin bows to him as I was fixing my hair. Is Lydia still asleep?

"Will learn, Dragonborn?" He queries to me.

"Damn right I will." I give him the thumbs up.

"When you Shout, you are speaking the words of Dragons. Thus, the Dragon Blood give you girls the inborn ability to learn the-"

"Words of Power." I finish for him. Arngeir and Glacier shot me a look that was hard to explain. "Lucky guess."

"All Shouts are formed by three Words of Power. When you master each word, your Shouts will become stronger."

"Basically, the more words we learn the more powerful our voices get." My logical twin summed up.

"Precisely, Master Einarth will teach you girls 'Ro', it is the second word in Unrelenting Force." He tells us as Einarth walks over to us. "Ro means 'Balance' in the Dragon language. Merge it with Fus-'Force' to focus your Thu'um more penetratingly."

"Ro." Einarth Shouts to the floor.

After he was done, the Word of Power appeared on the pavement in the Dragon language. Glacier and I went over to the glowing words in the floor and watched as the word became one with us.

"Ro-Unrelenting Force." We said in unison.

The Greybeards were impressed by us.

"You girls learned the new word like a master, you truly have the gift."

'No shit, Arngeir' I pondered.

"However, learning the Words of Power is only the first step. Both of you must unlock its meaning through constant practice in order to use a Shout. As Dragonborns, you two can absorb a dragon's life force and intelligence separately. Since, there are two of you."

"So, Marine and I take a dragon's soul and knowledge, right? Fifty-fifty."

"Correct, and as part of your initiation; Master Einarth will teach you girls his understanding of Ro." After he told us that, Einarth's shot out a bright orange beam at Glacier and me.

I could feel the understanding of 'Ro' rushing through my body, like a log flowing down the stream. The light disappeared and the feeling was stored in me.

"Now we must test your Thu'ums."

'Can we hurry this up, like now!?' I now regret wanting to learn how to use my Thu'um, when I obviously played this game!

"Use the Unrelenting Force to attack the targets as they appear."

"I call first!" I called out.

Arngeir nodded as Master Borri did a ghost call or some shit.

"Fiik…Lo Sha!" Borri shouted, a ghost of the Greybeards appeared in the middle of the platform.

"Here I go!" I said to myself, clearing my voice. "Fus…Ro!"

I shouted at the phantom with my Unrelenting Force, the blue aura attacked and made it disappear. Master Arngeir nodded in approval before motioning Glacier to do the same thing I did. She stepped forward beside me as Master Einarth called forth another phantom.

"Fiik…Lo Sha!" a ghost appeared after he was done shouting.

I turned to Glacier to see that taking a deep breath. Not a moment later, she was about to shout.

"Fus…Ro!" Her Thu'um hit the ghost and it disappeared.

"Glacier, when they summon the third phantom we shout together."

"Okay." She says.

"Fiik…Lo Sha!" Borri shouts the last ghost for us to shout at.

"Fus…Ro!" Glacier and I used our Thu'um on the phantom, sending it to the wall because our voices are strong.

We looked back at Master Arngeir to see what his expression to our combined Thu'um, he smiled down at us. This was a sign that he was impressed.

"Very impressive, young ones. Your Thu'ums was precise. You both show a great promise, Dragonborns." He said to us. "The next trial will be in the courtyard. If you girls will please follow Master Borri."

"Yes, Master." We bowed in respect.

We followed Master Borri up that stairs, through the doors, and out into the courtyard. Shit, it was like fuckin twenty degrees out here. I feel like this is the Ice Age, and no I'm talking about the movie. Wonder if my nose dripping will turn into chopsticks, like SpongeBob. When we near the columns in the snow, Glacier examined the markings before turning back Arngeir.

"We will see how well you girls learn a new Shout." Arngeir says.

"A new Shout?" Glacier queries.

"Yes. This Thu'um is called 'Wuld' which means Whirlwind."

"Wuld." Borri shouted to the snowy ground.

The Word of Power formed on the snow in the dragon's tongue. My twin and I stared down at word as it hummed it tone to us. The melody of the word sang in my mind like a music box. I could feel the meaning of Wuld absorbing inside me. Before I knew it, the word appeared inside my head.

"Wuld-Whirlwind Sprint." I spoke out, Glacier did the same.

"Approach Master Borri, he will give his knowledge of 'Wuld'." He demanded us.

I went over to Borri with my twin following behind me. Master Borri had an orange aura around him, and then it shot out of him into me and Glacier like a laser.

"What's next?" Glaze questioned him.

"Now we will see how well you girls will master the new Shout." We turn to see Master Wulfgar standing between two pillars near the gate.

"Master Wulfgar will demonstrate Whirlwind Sprint. After that you girls will have a turn."

We watch Master Wulfgar by the gates, waiting for him to do a performance for Glacier and I. Master Borri Shouted 'Bex' which caused the gates to open. Once they were open, Master Wulfgar Shouted the Whirlwind Sprint.

"Wuld…Nah Kest!" He Shouted as he went through the gates.

"Your turn, girls." Arngeir announced.

"I'll go first, since you went the last time, Marine." Glaze told me before walking between the columns.

Despite the fact that she was looking like she placid, I can easily tell she was scared. Glacier took so many staggered breaths that a big cloud was blown out of her mouth. After she took a last big breathe, she tested her Thu'um.

"Bex!" Borri commanded the gates to open.

"Wuld!" Glacier speed through the gates after she said the Thu'um.

"Glacier, how do you feel?" I called out.

"Like a race car in a NASCAR tournament!" Glaze answered my question and the Greybeards just give her a look that said 'What the fuck is that?'

"My turn!" I rush over to the pillars as Borri commanded the gates to open.

"Wuld!" I Shouted as I rushed pass the gates. "That was awesome! I feel like the Flash."

"You feel like you can fly."

"Yep!" We laughed at our silly conversation, while Arngeir made his way over to us.

"Your quick mastery of the Thu'um is…astonishing."

"Thank you." We said in unison.

"I have heard tales of the Dragonborn's ability, but to see two Dragonborns for myself…" He was last for words.

"What's our next trial?" Glacier asks him.

'To bring the blood of a baby lamb and present it to Akatosh! Hahaha!' I laughed to myself for thinking that.

"The last trial is to retrieve the Horn of Jurgen Windcaller. He is our founder, in the Tomb in the ancient fane of Ustengrav. Remain true to the Way of the Voice and you girls shall succeed." He advises us.

'Screw it; I'm not going into that tomb which DOESN'T have the Horn. We'll just go back to Riverwood and get it from Delphine.'

"Thank you, Master. Come on Glaze let's bounce!"

"I have some questions that need to be answered, Marine. Can you linger for a while?"

"Let think about that for a good second…NO!" I yelled as gripped her arm. "Bye Greybeards!" I look up at the Throat of the World. "Bye Paarthurnax!"

I rush back into the monastery before the Greybeards had time to ask me question. When we were back inside, I saw Lydia sitting on the platform eating an apple. But when she saw us, she instantly got up and ran to us.

"Are we leaving, my Thane?" Lydia asks me.

"Yes." I answer her.

"We'll be taking a voyage to Jurgen Windcaller's crypt to salvage a horn."

"Yeah…nope." I said.

"Why not? It's part of our trial."

"I know, but we're not doing it. At least not right now. We'll be going to a major city."

"Really, which major city?" Lydia questions me.

"Riften!" I cheered.

There was a long awkward silence between us, till Glacier popped a question.

"What the hell is Riften?" Lydia was about to answer but I stopped her.

"Lydia, don't say anything. Glacier, you'll find that out when we get there."

"If you so, cousin." Glacier sighs.

"Alright, le'go!" I fist pumped the air with glee as we left the Greybeard Monastery to the shithole called Riften.
