A.N/: hello everyone it had been forever! I do apologize I have not updated in a year and half but in fairness, I had a loss. My Papa (grandfather) passed away during Christmas of 2014 and I just couldn't bring myself to do any updates. I've finally found some drive and will be posting a few chapters really quickly. Also next Chapter I may be setting up a little contest for readers to participate in. Without further waiting please enjoy. Disclaimer: I do not own the characters in Durarara!

It was a few days before Shizuo was released, still injured and told not to work for a few days more at least, and Izaya -dressed as Kanra- went with him to Shizuo's apartment. They doctors had said he would need some help after all.
He was reluctant at first not comfortable with having Izaya in his home and near sharp objects. He was worried about a second shanking should he piss off Izaya into hating. He had no choice though since Kanra was holding his phone hostage.
Izaya did nothing more sinister than slice vegetables though and cook dinner. He made stuffed chicken with rice and sliced carrots and broccoli and it was good. The chicken was seasoned perfectly and juicy and full of flavour, stuffed with feta and seasonings. It was something one might pay a good deal of money for at a restaurant.
"You don't seem like the type to cook" he commented during the meal having been unable to stop Izaya in his crazy movements.
"Hm? Of course I can cook, I only settle for the best you know, and if you want food done right you have to make it yourself,"
" And you're afraid someones lurking in the shadows ready to poison your food at a restaurant?" he questioned.
"No, just at home..." He murmured thoughtfully as he took a bite. He had made enough for both of them. "Besides someone might at a restaurant if they were paid well...I have got a lot of enemies you know.." But no friends...
"That's kind of your own fault" he commented blandly as he ate slowly.
"I know..." He frowned though, pausing a little. A soft sigh escaped him before he took another bite of food though it had lost something for him just now... still, it was nice to be sharing meals with other people like this... and he really did love Shizuo.
"Maybe you should get out of the brokering business...you got enough money to last you a life time.." he said stretching," so why-itai[1]- risk you're neck giving info to people"
"Mmn... maybe your right... most informants don't live passed twenty three so I guess... I should quit while I'm ahead huh? Besides I seem to be good with stocks..." He could find a hobby or something to fill his time... or actually pursue psychology.
"Ya...just don't invest you're whole life in them, when market crashes you'll be screwed." he said taking a drink.
"Oh, I have savings bonds too... and a retirement package already set up so even if the stock market crashes I still have enough to retire on right now if I wanted to... besides I actually... do like psychology... so I thought... maybe I would actually... um... go for it..." his cheeks were pink when he finished the sentence.
"Then do it...as long as you don't screw up people along the way" he smirked teasingly.
Izaya blinked and then smiled a little. He wondered if Shizuo knew he had stopped cutting his hair or not...
He couldn't tell since he mostly only ever saw him as Kanra so assumption that they were extent ions was still very much in his mind.
He would find out eventually though, Shizuo had a thing for hair pulling though Izaya didn't mind that one so much... to a degree he liked it, but it was only when they were still kissing he liked it. Shizuo had kept ripping extensions out when this whole charade had first begun.
"Shizu-chan... if you ask me a question... I'll always tell the truth, okay? Then you'll know I'm not lying to you, right?" He hoped that would work better for the trust issues Shizuo had, or he hoped it did.
"Even If I don't ask a question I expect the truth." he said rubbing his eyes feeling exhausted.
Izaya nodded, "You'll get it... I'll never lie to you again..." He would swear on anything Shizuo wanted him to for that one.
"when did you suddenly start liking me?" he questioned," before or after you paid the truck driver to hit me?"
That would get awkward.. "A year before I met you," he answered honestly.
"..." he gazed at him blankly," and you still paid the fucking driver to run me over? what if I had died?" he questioned not that he did but what if he had?
"I didn't pay him to run you over. I paid him not to call an ambulance. I knew you were fine after all, and an ambulance would have been an expense you didn't need."
"..."I can't figure out if that ones a lie or not so agree to disagree" he said resting his head on the table.
"It's true... an ambulance costs a lot of money and Shinra had told me your bones didn't break anymore, that you were so strong lifting a bus over your head did nothing... I knew getting hit by a truck wouldn't hurt you either."
"Why did you do it all then?" he questioned,"...why'd you annoy, taunt, humiliate me" he questioned.
"Because I didn't know what to do..." Izaya frowned, "I didn't know how to deal with my emotions, they were stronger than I thought they would be and... and you hated me. I needed you to look at me and I didn't know how to do it... but if... if I made you angry then you would drop everything to chase after me and it made me happy..."
" If you hadn't and just tried to clear yourself or actually try to be you...maybe I wouldn't have ignored you as much as I did" he scolded then raised his head," can I go to bed now?" his eyes revealed how tired he was.
"Mm... yes... you should rest. I'll clean everything up so you should rest..."
"...mm" he then pushed him self up wincing and then walked towards his bedroom. "night"
"Good night..." Izaya cleaned quietly and not just the kitchen. He picked up around every room and dusted and even did the laundry for him. The best part was he'd even managed to get the stain our of Shizuo's upholstery.
Shizuo in question slept silently through the night only waking up a couple times with a dry mouth and a groan. He looked around the dark room with blurry eyes the cotton mouth very uncomfortable. He then noticed the small glass of water at the beside and reached for it gratefully drinking it down quick. He then noticed the smaller lump in the bed beside him. Izaya for sure. He laid back slowly and closed his eyes drifting off slowly...
Izaya had put the water by Shizuo's bed before climbing in on the other side to sleep too. He decided if Shizuo wanted the real him, he would get the real him, no masks at all. That meant he wasn't sleeping on a lumpy couch.
He slept silently feeling like he had a fever...though he didn't complain about Izaya being in his bed the pressure against his back was more comforting than not.
Come morning Izaya awoke earlier and made breakfast for Shizuo if the other was going to get better at all he needed to ear healthy. He made more than enough for them both, hoping Shizuo didn't mind traditional Japanese dishes, though Izaya made plenty of sweet tamago for the blonde too.
Thanfully Shizuo didn't mind, he was raised Japanese anyways so traditional meals were a given.
"Shizu-chan?" Izaya gently shook him to rouse him from sleep when it was ten thirty. "Breakfast is ready... come on, time to get up,"
"mmm..." he pushed himself up,"...time is it?" he rubbed his eyes his blond hair sticking out in weird places.
"Ten-thirty..." Izaya smiled a little, Shizuo's bed-head amusing him greatly.
"mmm" he yawned and stood up and stumbled into the kitchen tiredly. his side was visible since he didn't wear a shirt and there was a little bit of blue and purple bruising beginning to climb his side.
Izaya sighed a little but ironically enough his taped ribs were on the same side as Shizuo's stab wound. He sat across from Shizuo at the table quietly to eat.
"You know you don't have to hang around my boring house" the words were mumbled through Shizuo's sleepy haze. "I want to," Izaya said simply, shrugging one shoulder, "If I can take care of you it makes me happy..."
"mmm...not like I can boot you out in this condition anyways" he said shifting tiredly.
Izaya frowned a little bit at that but said nothing. He wasn't so sure that honesty included telling Shizuo every time he said something careless.
"fuck my head feels like its splitting" Shizuo reached up grabbing his head the medications making him sick in his stomach. "You didn't take your painkiller..." Izaya frowned a little. He knew Shizuo didn't like them but he wouldn't be in pain if he took them.
"Makes my mouth dry" he pouted which was rather cute to see on the blonde as opposed to the normal scowl.
Izaya smiled and got lots of water before putting the pills beside them next to Shizuo on the table. "Drink water then, a lot of it."
"I take back what I said. I still hate you" he puffed and took them.
Izaya frowned a little, "That's not nice to say ne? Besides they'll make your head feel better and your side... drink enough water and your mouth wont get dry~" He smiled now, deciding to take Shizuo's comment as teasing.
It had been teasing. He finished breakfast and then frowned,"I want to go out"
"Where to?" Izaya frowned a little. Shizuo wasn't fully healed yet so they couldn't go very far or do very much. But Izaya would do his best to make it happen too. "Anywhere! I'm bored.." he huffed that was usually why he could be found wandering around Ikebukuro till late at night.
"Ah... alright then, let's go to the park. We can still be restful while outdoors," Izaya suggested. It wasn't far from Shizuo's place anyways.
"mmm.." he got up to go get dressed in loose fitting baggy clothes.
Izaya pulled on more Kanra clothing but he'd brought some with him too so he wasn't wearing the same thing everyday. He did his make up and then his hair before adding jewelry to complete the look but it was simple and cute looking.
Shizuo came stumbling out still sleepy wearing a loose baggy sweater and loose fitting jeans so they didn't press too uncomfortably against his wound.
"You should wake up more before we go anywhere," He huffed, arms folding across his chest.
"Walking will wake me up" he muttered,"I'm not a morning person"
"I see..." Izaya wasn't either but when he was up he was wide awake,
"Alright then, let's go," He took Shizuo's arm as they headed out.
He glanced at him but didn't say a word, grateful for the support somewhat. "June..." he muttered," we have six months left"
Izaya's eyes found the sidewalk and he frowned properly, clearly saddened by this prospect, "Yeah..." He mumbled. He didn't think Shizuo would ever love him at this rate.
"when I'm better...I'll take you to that restaurant you liked"
"Ah?" Izaya blinked and then he smiled, leaning into Shizuo a little but giving him more support by doing so, "I'd like that a lot..." He agreed.
it was meant to be a thing of thanks but Shizuo wasn't sure why...he didn't have to, but he did.
And Izaya appreciated it a lot. It made him happy that Shizuo wanted to do something Izaya liked. Maybe before the year was over they had a chance after all.
