Hi everyone. Very sorry for the long wait, I had a case of writer's block, and work is hectic due to a lot of problems. Well, enough of that, here's chapter ten.
The Sohmas travelled all night to Forks; as soon as they arrived at the Cullens' house, everyone was outside. They didn't see Carlisle and Esme, nor did they see Rosalie and Emmett, so they assumed they hadn't returned yet. They also knew Jasper and Alice wouldn't there either, so they decided to make do with what they had.
"This is it?" asked Akito.
"So far," said Edward. "Rosalie and Emmett are searching local; Carlisle and Esme are searching abroad, and will still know nothing of Jasper and Alice."
"I figured as much," Akito replied. "I for one am curious about your daughter's gift."
"She shows you memories as if you were actually watching," said Bella, "she can show you the proof of her not being immortal."
Upon hearing that, Katsuya was the most curious out of all of them. He came out from behind Tohru, and kneeled down in front of Renesmee, and with one touch, he saw everything. He found it very amazing, Akito could even see just by looking at Renesmee. Katsuya felt the need to show her his own talent, so he picked up a small twig from the ground, he took Renesmee's hand in his own, within seconds the stick turned into stone, and then into sand which landed in the palm of Renesmee's hand. He turned her hand to the right, blew onto the sand and created a wind pattern.
All who were watching were amazed as they had never seen a talent like that before. Their attention was suddenly brought to noises in the distance, as if someone was coming; as it turns out they were correct when Senna and Zafrina had arrived, at that point Katsuya went back to standing behind his parents as he was getting shy. It wasn't too long before Carlisle and Esme returned with the last witness and discovered the Sohmas were already there, plus the other eighteen that had arrived before. All were showing each other their talents, at that point Bella found out she too was gifted as a shield, and they heard they had two shields among them. They knew they would have an advantage against the Volturi after Vladimir and Stefan told everyone about Aro's witnesses and everyone agreed to fight.
A little later, Tohru found Bella standing outside thinking. She decided to join her.
"It's interesting," said Bella, "that not only am I not the only one having a talent like a shield, but that I'm not the only one with a half-mortal child."
"I hear the entire family is full of half-mortals and vampires," said Tohru. "It was after I married Kyo that I found out he was a half-mortal. I was shocked but I wasn't scared."
"At that point did you decide to become immortal?" asked Bella, curious as to whether Tohru had decided on it too.
"I had thought about it," Tohru replied, "I just didn't think it would be so soon; nor did I think it would happen the way it did. Apparently I had no choice."
"I didn't really have a choice either," said Bella. "Although at the same time I did. Ever since the first major incident with a vampire, I wanted to become a vampire. Somehow I knew I would become one when I became ill when I was pregnant with Renesmee, and it almost killed me, Edward actually thought he was too late."
"Kyo almost thought that as my experience was somewhat similar to yours," said Tohru.
"What happened?" asked Bella.
"I too was pregnant when it was decided that I would become immortal, except I didn't know until just before Katsuya was born. After our graduation ceremony, I went to work for a couple hours, but then just as I was walking home, I heard footsteps behind me, and I had a feeling I was being followed. At that moment I wanted to run, but my legs felt weak and I couldn't move so I was attacked; I was beaten, raped, I felt like I was going to die. Hatori found me and brought me back to Sohma House, it was then I found out I was pregnant, because Akito could sense it. When I woke up the next day and looked in the mirror, I noticed my brown hair had become blond, and I officially met my son, and I told my aunt and cousins off because throughout my life they had been treating like a burden instead of family, and I had enough."
"You couldn't stay with your parents?" asked Bella.
"No," Tohru replied. "My father died when I was little, and my mom died a couple years ago. Even then, everyone was wondering how I could smile again so soon, I never let things get me down and I always stayed positive."
Bella thought it was amazing how Tohru stayed positive despite all the horrible things that happened to her, she had never met anyone like that. Even when it came to the night before the battle, and hearing all the different stories from everyone and their experiences in past wars. Tohru was surprised to hear the Sohmas had been in almost every war that existed in the last nine hundred years; even more surprised to hear there have been Sohmas since the dawn of time itself. Although she was a little nervous, she felt ready for the next day. They all did.
