Lyn'knoll

James' corpse lay on the ground with quite a large amount of people looking at Shaun and Sierra crying on James' carcass, either scared that there was an uncaught murderer inside the town, sad at James' death, or maybe a little bit of both. Sierra… was getting tired the moment she was laying down on James' chest, staining his shirt with her tears.

"James… if only… you could come b-back… I feel lightheaded, holy crap…" Sierra said, instantly collapsing on James' corpse. James opened his eyes, and instantly sat up, gasping loudly for oxygen. He looked around, to see many shocked people looking at him, murmuring to themselves. "What happened?" "Did he just come back to life?" James looked at Sierra laying on his lap, and got a little scared.

"Sierra, are you alright?!" James asked the unconscious keidran, worried that his killer may have killed Sierra as well. He didn't see any red marks on Sierra's body… a different method of murder, perhaps? He put his hand on her chest just to feel for a heartbeat. He felt some beats on her chest, which was a relief.

"Everything's okay, guys! She's alright!" James shouted, making sure that everyone knew that the situation regarding James' murder and resurrection, and Sierra going unconscious right before James woke up wasn't bad. James was okay, and Sierra was unconscious. James wondered were Shaun went, as he remembered that Shaun was with them while searching for the man in dark clothing. He was actually looking for that same exact person. He was going around the town, where he spotted a man in dark clothing walk in an alley in between two buildings. He noticed Shaun following him, and started to run. Shaun started running as well, shouting for assistance.

"Guys, I found him! I found the killer!" Shaun said, as many other people started running along with Shaun. They were getting quite close to James' killer. It was like a moving maze for each and every person. Which way do they go? Where is James' killer?

James' killer never killed anyone in his life before, and it was not going smoothly at all. Shaun and the many other people that were chasing him actually chased him all the way back to the crime scene, where they all saw James make a fireball in his hands, oohing and aahing at his ability to create fire using only his bare hands.

"Is… is this some sort of trick?" The killer said, nervously backing away from James. He was confused as to why James was alive and well, despite having some bloody stains on his shirt. He was instantly knocked out by Shaun, who had tased James' killer. James made the fireball he grew in his hand disappear, as there was no good reason to fire it at anything. Shaun was excited to see his friend alive and well, but was a little confused.

"James?! How?! Y-you died, man!" Shaun said, shocked, hugging his best friend, on the edge of crying. James and Shaun were almost like brothers. They did everything together, and they could never go a day without talking to each other. Shaun was emotionally crushed when that man killed his childhood friend. He swore to get revenge on the person that killed his friend, and he… kinda got revenge. He knocked James' murderer unconscious with his electric powers, and somehow, someway, James was revived. But how, exactly?

"I know I died, and I don't know why, I was back at the janitor's closet." James said, recalling his "awakening". "My mom's… worried about me. We'll talk about it when we get back to the tavern.

Sierra was opening her eyes, yawning. She took quite a quick 3-minute nap, and she was already completely awake. Immediately energized, she noticed James' alive body standing up, and she couldn't believe her eyes. When she fell asleep, she woke up in an instant. She also noticed James' killer's senseless body laying on the ground, which she was glad about. James saw her get up, and walked towards her.

"Oh, hey there, Sierra!" James said with a smile on his face. Sierra was really happy to see him alive and well again. So happy, she was literally crying. Tears were almost coming out of her eyes. She hugged James tight, crying into his shirt again. "Oh, you're a hugger, Sierra…!" James began to hear Sierra's crying. "What's wrong? You're crying." James was a little shocked. This was the first time they ever hugged each other, and they've only known each other since yesterday.

"I'm just so happy to see you, James…" Sierra said. They both heard rapid footsteps approach them. Both James and Sierra looked in the direction where they heard the footsteps, and a male tiger keidran ran to them. He recognized Sierra, and greeted himself.

"-Hey, Sierra!-" The keidran said, excited to see her. He just heard about the news about James getting killed and coming back to life. "-I missed you!-"

"-Oh, hey, Arko!-" Sierra exclaimed, sniffling, wiping her tears, letting go from James. Arko was Sierra's older brother. He was a great friend, a protector, and sometimes a little bit of a nuisance. The absolute epitome of an older brother. When Sierra got bullied when she was young, Arko stood up for her, calling Sierra's tormentors "a group of pathetic little asshats", and saying that they're "the type of person to take a dump in the sink". He was pretty confident, and always willing to help a friend. "-Wait, I almost forgot! Isn't your wedding today?-" Sierra remembered the wedding, and it's been one third of a year since she's been inside of the city. Arko's fiancée's name was Priscilla, a dog keidran. Arko and Priscilla's days of romance began in late September of 497, and Arko proposed to Priscilla in December of 499, just last year. Tomorrow would be the best day of their lives, and they knew it.

"-No, the wedding's tomorrow. Priscilla and I just can't wait!-" Arko replied, exhilarated at the fact that his wedding's tomorrow. He was prepared for his wedding. He had a suit, she had a dress, it was a public wedding, they knew that their wedding would be the best. They'd have so much fun.

"Hey guys, my brother's getting married! The wedding's tomorrow! " Sierra said, announcing Arko's marriage to her friends. She really liked Priscilla. Ever since Arko and Priscilla started going out, Sierra and Priscilla were good friends. Arko liked seeing Priscilla and Sierra get along with each other. It brought a smile to his face. Priscilla loved how Arko stood up for his sister when those pests harassed her, and truth be told, Priscilla had a huge crush on him before he stood up for his sister. She felt higher than the clouds just thinking about him. She cried, and cried, and cried in the middle of the night, because she thought that he was just so damn handsome, so brave. Such a caring person, standing up for the ones he loved.

"That's pretty sweet. Are we invited, or something?" Shaun asked, smiling at Sierra's older brother, wondering if they were allowed to attend the wedding

"Yeah, it's a public wedding. Anyone can come!" Arko replied, letting Shaun and James know that they're welcome to join the wedding.

"So… what do we do with this guy?" Sierra said, eyeing James' killer, glaring at his unconscious body. She hated his guts for what he did to James. She hated the concept of death, and better yet, murder.

"Let's… get some answers out of him." James said, with something in mind. Shaun and James heave-ho'd the insensible killer to their room, with Shaun getting the top of the body, and James getting the bottom.

"Hey, Lilah. Is it alright if we take this guy to our room just to find out some stuff about him?" Sierra asked, pointing to the body that James and Shaun were carrying.

"Well, there are no laws saying that it's illegal to take somebody that killed you to your room to squeeze some answers out of them." Lilah replied. If you were to emigrate to the Orchard Valley, you'd have to read the book of laws as part of the process. And in the book, it never explicitly said that you can take your murderer to your room to learn the killer's identity and/or motives. However, of course, it was against the law to murder someone. "We'll throw him in jail soon after."

James and Shaun sat the killer in a chair, and tied him to said chair using a sheet on the bed. Sierra sat on the bed, looking at the sunset. The sun was already down, giving the sky a vanilla-orange color, giving the clouds a hint of purple.

"So… I saw my mother." James said, remembering his 15 minutes in Sioux Falls. The awakening, the text, his mother arriving, the story, and the portal. Sierra got the wrong idea that James saw his mother in the afterlife, feeling sad for him.

"Oh, I'm sorry, James…" Sierra said, looking down, unaware of the fact that his mother's alive and well, she's just very concerned and confused. Where the hell did the portal come from, anyway?

"No, it's not that. I was back at my home planet." James said, reassuring Sierra that his mother is not dead. "I had more access to my phone. I got a message from my mother, asking me where I was. I was at my school, and my mom came to the school. I told her everything about here. I took her upstairs to explain what happened. After I was done explaining, I was sucked through a portal, and I guess that's when I came back to life. My father's dead, though. It's been 11 years since…" The killer began to wake up, instantly realizing where he is, what he's tied to, and who're in the same room as him. James tried to act as if he was better than his killer for underestimating him, Shaun, and Sierra.

"Nice knife you got here, bud." James said, smirking at his killer, while he tried to get up, but failed. He continued to struggle, but he couldn't loosen himself from the tightened grip of the bedsheet.

"W-where the hell am I?" The killer said, panicking. He remembered that person he killed. James. He was enraged. He struggled even more, and he ended up making the chair trip, causing him to fall. "How are you alive?!" He cried, astonished and perplexed looking at his murder victim that was resurrected.

"Alright. I'm going to ask you a question. Answer it, and I'll let you go." James said, squatting down, eyeing his killer. "Who are you?"

"I'd rather die than answer your stupid questions." The killer said, scoffing. James quickly grabbed his pocketknife from him, threatening him with it.

"Very well, then." James said. The killer began to have some regrets about what he said. He didn't really mean he'd rather die. James didn't exactly have any plans on murdering anyone as well. It just wasn't in him.

"Hang on, hang on! I-I didn't mean it! My name's Evan! My name's Evan! Evan Scott!" James put down the knife, placing it on the desk. That surname sounded… familiar. Trevor Scott, Evan Scott, could the two be related? The last words he heard before getting stabbed were "This is for my father." Could Evan be Trevor's son?

"Wait a second… is Trevor Scott your father?" James asked. This could be the reason why! He remembered Trevor from that night he killed Max's family. He grabbed Natalie, held a knife up to her throat, and then he broke Trevor's leg.

"Yes. I killed you for what you did to him. And I'm gonna do it again." Evan pushed himself off the ground so that the chair stood right-side up. It looked like something you'd see out of the Matrix, except a tad more realistic. He was quick. He was nimble, but strong. He turned, and grabbed the knife with his mouth. When Shaun tried to interfere, Evan lashed out, cutting his arm, causing some bleeding. Sierra rushed to Shaun's aid, meanwhile, Evan cut himself free from the chair. James didn't feel like burning an entire building down, so he fought using his fists. He grabbed the chair, and whacked Evan with it, resulting in it breaking. Evan fell down, with his back injured. James didn't want to break the law, but it was a matter of life and death. James quickly snatched Evan's knife, and placed it in his back pocket. They both got two legs of the chairs, and used them as melee weapons. They looked like pirates fighting on a boat. Evan walked forward, which then led to James walking back.

"I don't want to kill you, man. Please, don't do this." James said, pleading for Evan to stop fighting. But he wouldn't listen. He didn't respond to a word he said, and only kept on attempting to kill James again. The loud clacking of the wood filled the room, with Sierra scared, and Shaun screaming out of agony. Blood rushed out of his arm, meanwhile, Sierra tried to help, but didn't know how. James was fighting with Evan, Shaun was yelling, the entire room was chaos. Natalie, Amelia, and Max rushed in to see what in the hell was going on. They all were immediately shocked, seeing such insanity all bundled up into one room. They noticed Shaun lying on the ground, making Amelia scream, traumatized to see her significant other injured so much that blood was gushing out of the wound. Much like Sierra, both Amelia and Max instantly ran to Shaun's aid, and Natalie tried to help her big brother. Natalie's hair changed to blue. Shaun's hair changed to yellow. And Amelia's hair… changed to white. Natalie kicked Evan down, which then led to Evan tripping Natalie, with her landing face first on the wooden floor. Evan got up, toughened up quite a bit, and kicked James out the window. The glass broke, and James was then falling from the second story of the tavern.

"No. No, no no!" James thought to himself. It can't be over again. Not like this! He couldn't die twice. Maybe he could tell the police officers about Mekkan, maybe it's a blessing in disguise! James felt something grow out of the left and right sides of his back, and out through his shirt. It was painless, so he didn't have to worry. He looked from the corner of his eyes. They were orange… and feathery?! Wings? James was flabbergasted! He could feel them. The wings… they were real. When he was only a mere foot off the ground, he flapped his wings, making him fly. He flew straight into the broken window. Everybody saw it, surprising everyone. They never knew that James had wings, and James didn't even know that either.

"Natalie, do that thing where you froze that guy that tried to kill us!" Amelia shouted. Evan was really going at it. Natalie tried to hit Evan with her ice, but she missed her shot. She shot her ice all across the bedroom, but ended up shooting ice on the table, the bed, the floor, the walls, just about anywhere in the room except for Evan. Amelia had enough of this. Out of pure instinct, She clapped her hands hard, resulting in a loud smacking sound which echoed throughout the tavern, which blew everyone else across the room, and blew Evan out of the window, knocking him out in the process. Evan landed on the ground, sliding. He was still alive, but broke two ribs, his right leg, and his right arm, scraping his knees and elbows in the process. People screamed at the sight of the injured murderer, and looked at the room that James was staying in. They already knew about what Evan did, and had hospitalized him, to imprison him soon after.

"Well, that explanation must've gone completely wrong." Lilah thought to herself, observing the fight between James, Shaun, Natalie, Amelia, Sierra, Max, and Evan that recently ended.

"Jesus Christ, who was that guy, James?! And where'd you get those wings from?!" Natalie shouted, looking at the mess of the room they all made. They knew they would have to clean this mess up, and it would take a lot of time. They'd have to get a new chair, a new bedsheet, and get rid of all the ice. Meanwhile, something came over Sierra. She saw what she was doing. She… undid Shaun's wound. She reversed it. She made it go away. She healed him. The bleeding stopped, and the wound reverted back to normal, unharmed flesh.

"W-What?!" Shaun said, looking at his healed arm. He didn't know what to say. He was greatly impressed. His mouth was wide open, smiling. "H-how the hell?!"

"What… is this? What are we?" Amelia asked themselves, looking at her hands. She blew everyone across the room. not knowing what to say. They all had some sort of power. But what kind of power?

"I've heard of magic, but that's nothing compared to this!" Sierra exclaimed. She didn't need mana crystals to heal Shaun, and she sure as hell knew that only templar humans could draw mana directly from the planet, and the squad sure didn't need any mana crystals to use their powers. So what were they?
