Chapter 10:

a/n: yet again sorry for the loooonng time between updates. I am now on summer so I will be updating a lot more often. Enjoy!

Everyone walked up onto the boat at ease, but not Percy. Who used to practically feel safer at sea than on land. How could the son of the freaking Sea God feel nervous? Well, first he was about to go on a mission that could either kill him and his team. Second, his girlfriend that he supposedly killed might actually be alive and third, all the gods pretty much him.

"You coming Perce?" Travis yelled. Percy snapped out of his doubtful thinking and put his best fake smile on and nodded his head. Percy walked onto the boat and saw his team in a circle motioning with their hands.

"What's going on?" Their heads turned to Percy, Clint was the first to speak.

"We figured out that no one here really knows how to control a boat and all that." Percy pointed to himself and said,

"Son of the Sea God, remember?" Percy undid all the ropes and got the boat headed to their destination. Percy memorized the coordinates of the sea of monsters 30, 31, 17. Percy walked out to the table to find everyone talking. He caught a glimpse of Jason saying,

"He used to be invincible, but he crossed through a river that took his invincibility away. He was a legend at camp when I got there. I assume he made a good impression on Reyna because he became praetor in a very short time." Percy walked in like he never heard anything and the guys shut up very quickly.

"What are you guys talking about?"

"Uhh nothing." Nico said looking away.

"Ok, so does anyone here know what they're about to go up against?" Percy said taking a seat between Steve and Jason. Everyone shook their head.

"Perce beside you Annabeth, Grover and all the greats no one has gone to the Sea of Monsters and made it out alive." Piper said. Percy blushed realizing how stupid he had been.

"Oh, yeah. Well it's gonna be unlike anything you've ever faced." Tony snorted and said,

"I've faced a lot; if I can handle chitauri I can handle little monsters." Percy felt like laughing out loud,

"You've faced a hydra, Scylla and Charybdis, the sirens, a prison run by our dear friend Circe and not to mention a Cyclopes?" He counted each feat on his fingers. Tony blushed and everyone laughed. "And not to mention I was only thirteen." All the Avengers jaws dropped, except Natasha who said,

"What exactly do these monsters do?"

"The hydra is a very aggressive many headed monster, if you cut one head off two more grow back. Scylla and Charybdis are monsters that live on either side of the Sea of Monsters. Scylla is close to the hydra but much harder to defeat. Charybdis used to be a naiad but is now a huge mouth with terrible teeth that feeds three times a day."

"Sounds lovely." Travis mumbled under his breath.

"Just wait till I finish. The Sirens are these things that lure you to your death with their singing, if you survive the singing you become wiser. Their singing tells you the truth. You guys know about Circe and Cyclopes are pretty easy to figure out."

"How did you defeat all of them?" Thor boomed as he took a swig of water.

"I had help from Clarisse, Annabeth and Tyson. We were trying to save my friend Grover." It hurt to say the name of someone who he thought was his best friend who ended up not believing you. "But like a lot of people Grover chose to believe that I am a cold hearted murderer."

"You know that's not true Perce." Piper said with a loving look on her face.

"Really, then where the hell is he?" Percy didn't really feel like talking much anymore. He went up to his room and sat on his bed staring out the window watching the waves crash against the glass. Why does this happen? Percy got frustrated and threw a glass vase against the wall. Every time it seems he gets to a good spot in his emotions then it goes downhill. A shard of glass had made an incision on Percy's hand; a trail of red was running down his arm and onto the furniture. They blood reminded him of that dreaded day, of him covered in her blood sobbing.

Percy went to the bathroom to wash out the wound and heal it. When he looked in the mirror he saw just a shadow of who he used to be, his green eyes weren't as vibrant as they used to be, full of fun, now they were dark and stormy, like they might break any second. And for the first time in a while Percy cried. He walked out of the bathroom and flung himself onto the bed. Not caring that he skipped dinner and probably was only going to get two hours of sleep due to dreams. He didn't care. But it was just another place where he couldn't get away from her.
