7 Months Later

Everything was going good since Jamal was gone. Maya went back to her old tough self. Protecting me like she always did. I was sitting in biology lost. I had no idea what the teacher was talking about. I started zoning out listening to the sound of the clock ticking, the feeling of my phone vibrating brought me back to reality.

Maya: hey baby im bored

Emily: me too but I need to tell u something

Maya: what

Emily: Im leaving this weekend for a swim meet

Maya: when do u leave

Emily: Thursday

Maya: tomorrow Emily and u tell me now

Emily: I sorry

"Ms. Fields what is the answer to number 2?" I looked at the book and was more lost than I was before. "See if you was paying attention we would be having this problem." Ms. Lang said. "The answer is B." I said guessing. "That's right. I guess you are paying attention." she said continuing her lesson. Dang that was lucky. I took out my phone back out to finish texting Maya.

Maya: its okay but ill c u when u get home im leaving early today

Emily: y

Maya: I have a doctors appt. but ill come straight over after school

Emily: k

class went on for about another half an hour. when the bell finally rung I flew out of the class room and down the hall. my next class I had with friends. Hanna and Aria both had history with me so I would at least how people to be bored with. "Hey Em." The girls said. "Hey." we sat down and started to talk. "The teacher is never late." Aria said. just then our sub walked in. he honestly looked like santa claus. "Okay class quiet down I am Mr. Jones and I am the sub for today. your teacher said for you to do chapter 1 and 2 vocabulary and chapter reviews for both chapters. all work is due at the end of class. other than that get to work." he sat down at the desk and everyone began to work. lunch came and we were glad for the break. "Where is Maya at?" Spencer asked. "She wasn't in physics." Spencer added.

"she left early for a doctors' appointment."I said taking a bite of my sandwich. "So how is Jason, Caleb, and Toby? haven't seen them in awhile." I said to the girls. "Toby got his GED and is working at this construction site." Spencer said. "Caleb is visiting his mom in California." Hanna said. Aria had her head down and didn't say a word. "What's wrong Aria?" Spencer asked. "Me and Jason broke up awhile ago." she said softly. "Why didn't you say anything." I asked. " Because it just didn't work okay."Aria said annoyed. "Okay are you okay sweetie?" Hanna asked rubbing her back. "Yeah I'll be fine." she said. "Did you break up with him?" Spencer asked. "No he broke up with me said that he found something out and he needed to leave rosewood that its not you its me speech." she said with anger. we all mouthed oh and headed back to class. History went by pretty fast after lunch then I headed to my last class for the day.

Maya POV:

I left the doctor for my check and headed to my house. I realize that Mrs. Fields was starting to act really weird around me. I can tell she still isn't comfortable with Emily being gay. I decided awhile ago that I needed to talk to her mom and tell her how I really felt about her daughter. tell her that I love Emily that I would never left anything back happen to her never. that I understand that she is uncomfortable with Emily being gay and even with me dating her daughter. yeah this conversation was well past due but I decided it was now or never. I got out of the car and walked up to the Fields' door. I took a breath 'here does nothing' I said to myself and rang the door bell.

"Hey Maya what are you doing here?" Mrs. Fields asked. "I actually came to talk to you about Emily and I." she moved back to allow me in come in. we sat down on the couch and it was an awkward silence. "I know you are still uncomfortable with Emily being gay." I said breaking the silence. "yes but she is my daughter and I must learn to love the new her." she said looking away. "Emily is no different than the girl you always knew. she was scared to be herself for the fact she didn't want to disappoint you. she loves you and she would hate the fact that you dislike her." I said. "I don't dislike her I never could. I-I just don't understand why she would choose this lifestyle." you can tell she was really confused about the entire thing. "I want you to know that I love Emily with all my heart and I would never let anything harm her. she's just as special to me that she is to you and Mr. Fields." tears started to brim my eyes.

"Maya that is so sweet and I am glad that Emily has you either its as a friend or more. its just going to take me some time to get use to this because I was taught that being gay was wrong. but I don't want my daughter to feel like that." she said with tears also. "but that's why I'm here she feels like that and she can tell that you hate her for what she feels." "I don't hate her I never could. do she really feel like that?" she asked looking me in the eyes. "yes she tells me all the time. she just wants to feel that you accept her for being herself and not something she thought you wanted her to be." I said looking up but finishing looking her in the eyes. Mrs. Fields just nodded her head letting the tears flow. I reached into my bag and handed her a tissue. I also pulled out some booklets. "Here read these and they will explain basically everything to you about living a homosexual lifestyle. it also explains everything else and answers all questions you have." she took them and nodded her head again. "I figured you would like them I gave them to my parents when I came out to them it seemed to help. maybe it will help you." I said smiling a little. "Thank You Maya." she said and wrapped me in a genuine hug not a forced one. "Well I have to go but I'll see you soon." I said walking towards the door. "Hey Maya." Mrs. Fields said and I turned around. "Will you come over for dinner I think Emily would really like that. I know I would." she said smiling. "I would love too. I guess I will see you later."

I walked out the door and got in my car. when I looked at the time I knew Emily would be getting out in a few minutes. I knew she had walked to school today, I decided to go pick her up. when I pulled up to the school the bell had just rung. I sent Emily a quit texts that said come out front. I got out the car and leaned on the side facing the school.

Emily POV:

I was walking out of class after the finally bell rung to go home and my phone vibrated. Maya sent me a text to come out front. I had a confused face as I told the girls I needed to go ahead. they said okay because all had something to do. when I walked outside I was so surprised. Maya was in front of the school leaning against her car. she had on her black sunglasses with her hair straight down. she had on a black tank top, gray skinny jeans and her black ankle boots. I screamed and ran into her arms. I kissed her, "Baby I thought you had to go to the doctor." "I did. when I had finish there I decided to come pick my girl up." she said smiling. "come on lets go ." Maya said opening the car door. Maya and I are driving back to her house when Maya phone started to ring. "babe can you answer that?" Maya asked me. "yeah."

E: hello

UK: can I speak to mimi

at first I was confused at who Mimi was but then I remembered Jamal calling Maya that. Maya said who is that.

E: who is this?

UK: Renee or Re-Re

"Its Renee or Re-Re." I said. "oh put it on speaker." Maya said. I did as she asked.

M: What's up Re-Re?

R: nothing Mimi did you hear that Jamal going to prison for about 11 years on like 5 different charges

M: yeah I heard word got back to me quick

R: So who is the chick that answered your phone?

M: My girlfriend Emily

R: you must really love the girl if you letting her answer your phone

M: yeah I do so what you been up too

R: nothing I am heading to Philly. I'm going to a university there.

M: your kidding right?

R: naw I am heading there now. I going to the airport.

M: I live two hours out of Philly you got to come see me

R: will do Mimi well they are calling my flight I'll see you soon I love you girl

M: I love you too

I hung up the phone. "I can't believe my girl is coming to town." Maya said all excited. "Who is Re-Re and why do they call you Mimi?" I asked. "Well Renee and me went to school together for like forever. we are best friends. as for my nickname it was My while growing up, but when I started partying all the time people started calling me Mimi. Mimi kind of stuck more and since middle school that's what I was called. 'Mimi the life of the party'." she said waving one hand in a rainbow motion. I started to laugh. we pulled up to her house and went in. "where are your parents at?" I asked while Maya dragged me upstairs. "some music thing. but I want to do something before we go to dinner at your house." Maya said kissing my neck. "what do you mean my house?" I asked moving away. "Your mom invited me over when I went over there and talked to her." "what did you talk to my mom about?" I said really confused and worried. "Nothing just us but that's something you and your mom need to talk about but right now we are doing too much talking and not enough kissing." Maya said attacking my neck. "Although this is amazing." I said pushing her away. "I need to do all my homework tonight I leave in the morning." Maya gave me that evil grin. "I know and I want to send you off happy if you getting what I mean."

I couldn't fight it anymore. I let Maya have her way and we had sex. When we finished I laid in her arms with her playing with my hair. "we really should go take a shower so my parents don't think nothing." I said kissing her shoulder. "Come on lets go." she said moving. "uh- uh separate because we just going to end up needing to shower again." I said pushing her back down. "but we be in the water already." Maya said pleading. "I'll make you a promise." I said looking up at her. "What?" she said with a pout. "when I come from my swim meet and if we won I'll do what you want." Maya pout turned into the biggest smile. I grabbed Maya shirt off the floor and threw it on. we went to separate bath rooms and got washed up.

when we were done we went downstairs to watch a movie until it was time to go. "what movie you want to watch?" Maya asked. "my favorite movie." I said. "what movie is that you have like a dozen favorite movies?" Maya asked. "true but love and basketball I just love this movie." "Me too." Maya said finding the movie. when the movie was over it was about time to go. we started to walk next door. I can't believe Maya is about to have dinner at my house. I mean its no different than other times but other times my dad was there. My dad got his orders to go back to Texas. This was going to be the first time Maya would be over since I came out. My mom is still acting weird about the whole me being gay thing. Maya didn't make it no better by saying she talked to my mom about us. we walked through the doors and I thought 'here goes nothing'. "Mom were here!" I yelled.
