Disclaimer: I do not own RWBY, because if I did Weiss would totally ignore Neptune and go after Ruby.
With a clank Weiss pushed her locker shut, her signature white and blue polka dotted mail bag strung over her shoulder. Books of varying sizes weighed it down, which caused the snow haired girl to tilt slightly to the right. The only other presence in the hallway was silence, as the bell had released the students almost twenty minutes ago. Weiss pressed her back against the wall, one foot tapped a steady beat on the ground and her eyes scanned the hallway. Ruby was late as always, probably allowing herself to once again get lost in her stupid squabbles with her friend Jaune Arc.
Weiss had only known who the boy was from when Cinder had dropped the latest gossip about how the track star and model Pyrrha Nikos and the video game geek had begun dating. The white haired girl hadn't paid much attention to the information, as the two students' bullshit business just wasn't something she prioritized. Similar to her indifference about the latest scandal, Weiss didn't mind Ruby and Jaune hanging out. Hell, the redhead getting the nerdiness out with the her best friend made the time spent at the Rose house more bearable. In the two weeks since the scarred girl had spilled the gay beans and received a new friend, she had realized Ruby's behavior was sometimes truly quirky. When the enthusiastic teen spent time with Jaune her excitement was usually curbed for the day, stifling the endless flow of otherwise passionate comments about her favorite shows and latest conquests in some game that basically was only played by 30 year old men who lived in their parents' basements.
How Ruby had become comfortable with her so quickly had made Weiss a bit uneasy the first few days after the blackmailing had ended, but before long she found herself enjoying the redhead's antics. The teen's openness was certainly something the Schnee girl envied. Being able to not care about what those around might think of any action she made or if it would have an affect on the family's company seemed like a wonderful thing. The two teens didn't speak much at school, but afterwards they would meet up to either head to the float club, or to Ruby's house under the guise of such meeting. Despite always finishing her work as perfectly as she ever had, her spending increasingly larger amounts of time away from home certainly wasn't making the white haired girl's father happy. However, it let Weiss be something she had almost never been with someone else since the death of mother.
Herself.
No one inside the Rose residence ever judged the scarred girl for something she had done, allowing the thoughts that usually were held back in fear of repercussions to be released uncensored. The step over the threshold of the welcoming building was like a step into freedom. There, no one would tell her father what words were uttered by her mouth, nothing spoken would screw up the company, and she was no longer the heiress to the Schnee company. Instead, she was just Weiss. Ruby willingly letting the white haired girl rant about events that had frustrated her during the day was great stress relief. The words spoken were always menial, such as wanting to yell at someone for accidentally knocking her pencil off of the desk. The redhead would pipe in with little snippets and remarks, usually eliciting a smile or giggle from Weiss. Sometimes Yang would join in, talking about the crazy things that had happened at her work the night prior.
It was foreign to Weiss, the hospitable nature of the sisters. The bodacious blonde consistently made Weiss feel welcome in their household, and even came into the habit of always preparing enough food for the teen, knowing that she had been coming over every single day. The woman was good-natured, if a bit in your face at times. Her friendly teasing was something that took Weiss a few days and a sleepover to get used to, having previously taken the prodding too seriously.
The echo of steps coming down the hallway and towards the her broke pale girl out of her reverie. Not expecting Ruby, the footsteps were too calm and collected to belong to the teen, an eyebrow raised when she saw the bright blue dyed hair of Neptune Vasilias. He was quite a reputable student amongst the grades, winning the genetics lottery with his good looks, charming personality, and disgustingly high IQ. Despite his being a senior and Weiss being a junior she knew all about him, and had chatted with him a handful of times, and over half were just the scarred teen being peppered with shameless flirting.
The white of the school's button up shirt contrasted against his tanned skin on his chest, which was being unnecessarily exposed with the three top clasps being undone. Such a shameful attempt to show off made Weiss shake her head. The sunglasses tinted a shiny orange were pushed uselessly above his eyes, spiked blue hair leaning over the lenses. Neptune smiled, speaking aloud to his redheaded friend beside him whose name just wasn't coming to mind. Flattening herself against the metal cases beside her, Weiss hoped the charismatic boy wouldn't see her and that Ruby would parade down the hallway as soon as possible.
"Hey, Snowangel!"
Shit. Standing up straight, the teen put on her mask of sweetness and lifted a dainty hand. "Hello." The redheaded boy walking at the other's side whispered a few words, heading off down the hall and into what was presumably the bathroom. Neptune, go with him. Go with him. Go with him! Weiss begged, but the youth kept walking, coming to a stop beside a disgruntled peer. Great.
"What's up? Just hanging out at your locker?" the boy asked nonchalantly, leaning on the metal compartments and letting loose a thousand diamond smile. He left meager space between their bodies, cozy for him, but cramped for the girl across.
The white haired girl took a step back. "No, I'm just waiting for a friend."
"Oh, who?"
"Ruby Rose," Weiss responded, "We're in the float club together."
"You're in the float club? I was thinking of joining," Neptune answered, nodding and glancing down the hallway.
"I think it may be too late, sorry." The lie slipped through so casually that the teen herself was almost convinced of it. There weren't many people in the float club, and with the deadline for the finished project coming up quickly and one of the members dropping out, any extra hands were appreciated. Neptune's hands, however, were not. If Weiss had to put in extra work so be it, because sitting around in a classroom with him flirting as she tried to hold a conversation with her redheaded pal was a ghastly prospect.
"That's too bad," the charismatic boy replied, "I mostly wanted to join because then, I could spend more time with you."
Nearly gagging, Weiss fixed the bag hanging off her shoulder, giving another small, deceptive smile. "How sweet of you."
"So," Neptune began, "Do you wanna go get some dinner sometime? Like Friday night? My treat." He closed his mouth, looking down at Weiss with a look that oozed out the confidence that she would respond positively.
"Sorry, but no thank you," the white haired girl apologized, trying hard not to shout out that she just wasn't interested in what he had going on down below. She was a Schnee girl, and in spite of this she had to act as polite as possible.
The teen paused, processing the response and thinking of his own. "Well how about during the weekend?"
Of course Neptune would just think she was busy. "Still no. Sorry."
"How about Mon—"
"Weiss!"
The stamping of combat boots filled the hall, and both teens turned to look at the source of the noise. Ruby Rose stumbled down the hall with a red and black back pack swinging off of one shoulder, nearly tripping over her own feet. A look of worry covered her face, and she slowed to a halt from her previous speed walking, face as red as the deep highlights. Neptune glanced down at the panting girl and then back towards Weiss.
"Is this your friend?"
"Yep," she replied sweetly, "and if you'll excuse us, we have a meeting to go to. Have a nice day, Neptune."
The blue haired boy muttered a goodbye, clearly upset that his attempt to ask out Snow White had failed. Weiss only smiled at Ruby's impeccable timing, saving her like Prince Charming, albeit unknowingly, from the awkwardness of explaining to Neptune that she didn't want to go with him. Not tonight, not tomorrow, not three weeks from now, not in a year, not ever. A hand on the redhead's shoulder, the shorter girl steered towards the art room, ignoring the apologies and questions spewing out.
"Weiss, I'm really, really, really, sorry I was so late. Jaune and I were discussing this new game that was coming out, and I completely forgot there was a club meeting today!"
"Oh?" she raised an eyebrow, "So if it was any other day it would have been fine?"
"What! No! It would have been less okay. Like, still bad, but not as bad," the accused explained.
The scarred girl nodded, continuing down the hall with Ruby at her heels. They came upon the closed wooden door to the art room sooner than thought, and the redhead's gulp was audible. Sucking in a breath, a pale hand grasped the door handle, pulling it open to be greeted by five sets of eyes. Mrs. Goodwitch stood in the front, her pointer tapping lightly onto a curled hand. She raised her eyebrows, tilting her head towards the two standing in the doorway. Weiss stood firm, but Ruby was essentially cowering behind her more intimidating friend.
"Girls, so good you could join us," came the smooth as silk words, "I was beginning to think that you two had skipped."
"Of course not, ma'am," the scarred girl replied, throwing in the 'ma'am' for good measure.
"Well, at this point you've already wasted enough time. Sit, sit, so we can begin," the art teacher sighed, gesturing to the double desk near the front, Ruby and Weiss's usual seat.
Sometime during the two weeks of club meetings the other students in the club had migrated their spots to the front, and now they all sat in a big cluster in the front of the room. The brown haired girl who Weiss had waved to the first meeting, Velvet, now sat behind them with her boyfriend Sun. She had been in the same school system with Weiss since elementary, and while the two had never gotten the chance to really talk and become friends their chats were enjoyable the few times they occurred. She was a genuinely shy girl, but the moment someone showed interest in the bunnies she raised or something else that was of importance she opened up.
Her boyfriend beside her was bleach blonde, his shirt unbuttoned and hanging open similar to Neptune's, but rather than an attempt to show off it was almost as if the partner just didn't care. A large hand was interlaced with the brunette's, a casual thing that Weiss found darkened her pale cheeks. It was so small, but showed how comfortable they were with each other. Sun showed in the two weeks that he didn't particularly care whether or not he was in the float club, just being there with Velvet was enough for him. It was incredibly sweet, almost as sweet as Ruby's coffees.
The other two members Weiss didn't converse with as much as she did to those behind her, but Ruby spoke to them often, especially the awkward ginger. The snow haired adolescent was curious as to whether she had a speech impediment or something of the like, but never asked to avoid sounding rude or uncouth. The other club member, one of identical twins who were near impossible to tell apart, usually had a sour look on her face, and Weiss just assumed the teen was some prissy valley girl until the red headed nerd explained the concept of 'resting bitch face'. It was amusing to hear Ruby banter back and forth with everyone in the group, and from her seat Weiss could see the students' faces light up. The energetic teen was assuredly odd at times, but her smiles and goofy attitude was contagious. At times it made even the Schnee girl want to drop her work and join in the redhead's plight, but still she had to actually do the job, after all the float wouldn't finish itself.
Mrs. Goodwitch tapped her black rod on the table between the two tardy teens. "So, do you two have any excuses as to why you were late this time?"
"In my defense, it was all Ruby's fault," Weiss intoned, "She lost track of time goofing off with her friend."
"What?!" Ruby cried, jerking her head to the right in order to train silver eyes on the Schnee girl, "Way to throw me under the bus!"
The snow haired girl rolled her eyes. "I'm just telling Mrs. Goodwitch the truth."
"Yeah, sure. Just like how you were too busy flirting with flirty mc buttface!" the teen retorted, crossing the two arms tightly.
"I was not flirting with Neptune. All he did was ask me out, which—"
"How did that go by the way?" a new voice interjected. Everyone in the workshop turned their head towards the blonde seated with one arm behind his neck and another still interwoven with Velvet's. "Should I be sending him a happy text or a sad text?"
"Well if you hadn't interrupted me you would know, wouldn't you?" Weiss commented, "And I politely declined him."
"So sad it is."
"Sun," the soft tone of Velvet put in, "I don't think you should text him at all. How would you know about her saying no if he didn't tell you?"
He paused, bringing the arm down and tapping slowly on the chin. "That's true…"
"Maybe just ask him how it went?" the scarred girl suggested.
Sun opened his mouth the respond, but Mrs. Goodwitch cleared her throat. "Okay, enough with your chit chat. I don't care whose fault it was, but as punishment," Ruby groaned at the mention of punishment, earning a glower from the art teacher, "for being so late for what must be the fifth time you two will be staying late on Friday to do more work on the float."
"Oh come onnnn. I have a scheduled raid in Hunter's of Vale that day!" the nerd bellowed.
"It looks like you'll have to reschedule."
Ruby reached her arms out towards the unamused woman. "But Glyndaaa—"
"Do I need to make it Monday as well? Calling a teacher by their first name is disrespectful."
"Fine," she conceded, "I'm sorry. We won't be twenty minutes late ever again."
"Or any kind of late for that matter," Weiss added.
Mrs. Goodwitch nodded, "Good. Now back to what I had been speaking about prior. The base of the float has been brought into the school, and is now located in the gym. We can begin painting it Friday, and some of us can also do the sewing for the clothes. I've gotten the supplies and the designs for the shirts, and I'm still in the process of turning your concepts for the hats and pants into step by step instructions. So for now we can just sew what we have and make some signs."
The students all rose from their seats, half of them grabbing markers and poster paper to make signs for their school and the other half grabbing the materials to make their clothing. Out of all the brainstorms the ginger's was the best, suggesting that they dress up as the iconic statue of the four war heroes in the central park and that they could hand out candy and flags. It was something the kids would enjoy, and relatively simple. As simple as sewing could be. Fumbling with the needle and thread in her hand, Weiss began to regret picking to do this instead of the posters. Four pricked fingers and a barely audible curse word later the white haired girl found Ruby lifting the items of mass destruction out of her injured hands.
"Let's switch," she smirked.
Weiss nodded with a quiet thank you. The redhead must have had experience in the art of sewing, because while her stitches weren't perfect they were leagues better than the snowy haired girl's own. Straightening out the crooked lines of the words on the poster, Weiss began adding more details, giving little swirls and accents to make it more interesting of an image. The others around her were doing the same, and idle chatter filled the room. Not long after she had begun sewing, Ruby turned around and began talking to their peers. Weiss only listened in, more interested in finishing her poster.
Before long the clock struck four thirty and the students were released. No one rushed out, aside from the ginger leaving right away to get to her piano lesson on time, if one could even call her relaxed walk rushing. Ruby and Weiss exited the room together, waving goodbye to the others and once again reassuring Mrs. Goodwitch that they had no plans to be late again on Friday. Strolling side by side, the duo slipped out through the front doors of the school and began making their way towards Ruby's home. It was an unspoken ritual, and thankfully the chauffeur Reginald had never told Weiss's father exactly where she had been getting picked up from.
Still high in the sky the sun beat down streams of invisible fire. The air outside had warmed, and finally the possibility of summer had hit everyone and everything. The white haired girl remembered hearing a brief mention of a heat wave from a peer, and from the beads of sweat pearling on her neck the snippet of information was deemed true. Thankfully with the easy going banter back and forth the trek came to an end in the blink of an eye. Once again Weiss found herself walking through the front door of the Rose household. The older sister had already left for work, but the smell of her cooking still lingered in the air.
"Ooh, looks like Yang made us some—" Ruby paused.
Both of the girls eyes landed on the immense plate of spaghetti resting dead center atop the white cloth draped table. Two pairs of silverware were laid out, a set on each side. A single candle, a fake one because the blonde would never risk burning the house down, was placed beside the salt and pepper. The shade was pulled down, bringing the room to a slight darkness, with the flicker of the counterfeit flame accenting the intent on Yang's actions.
"...spaghetti." Without another word the redhead left her companion's side, opening the cabinet overhanging the counters and retrieving another glass plate. A hasty hand pulled the shade open, immediately filling the room with the afternoon sun. She placed the platter down, chuckling awkwardly, "Silly Yang, forgetting to set a plate out for you. Doesn't she know that you come over every day?"
Noting the crimson face of Ruby's, Weiss struggled to hide her own blush. She sat down across from the flushed nerd, picking up the candle to shut off the now faintly visible light. "Yeah," the white haired girl muttered.
"So!" the redhead blurted, "Um, how was your day?"
Glad for the topic change from the unspoken knowledge of what Yang had set up to something much more pleasant, Weiss began taking some pasta off of the steaming pile. The chef must have left not even minutes before the doublet had arrived to have had the food be this heated. "My day was alright. Neptune flirting with me was not a high point, though. He just wouldn't take no for an answer. He was convinced the reason I was saying no was because I was busy, but I just didn't want to go on a fucking date with him," the scarred girl complained, taking a bite of the pasta coiled around the fork.
Ruby had pulled the plate from the heart of the table towards herself once Weiss was finished with grabbing a portion of it. Unlike the elegant girl across from her, the redhead shoveled a lump of noodles haphazardly into the hungry orifice. "Mmmyeah," she hummed with a mouth full of food. Swallowing as much as possible, Ruby added, "Dude just needs to lay off. Not every girl is going to want to date him."
"It's bad manners to speak with your mouth full of food, you know," the sophisticated teen noted, an eyebrow raised and a smirk on her face.
"Weiss, everything I do is bad manners to you."
"That's not true," she conceded, "There are times where you don't move or speak that you're somewhat refined."
"So when I'm asleep?"
"Ye—oh wait, nevermind. You're still pretty barbaric then too, what with all the drool and the bed head," Weiss teased, taking another bite of pasta.
"And you insulting my manners isn't un-mannerful?" Ruby remarked, raising her eyebrows and tilting a tomato sauce splattered face towards the pristine girl across the table.
"I'm simply pointing out the facts. For example, the fact that your face is covered in sauce."
Wiping her cheeks on a napkin, the geek cleared any and all remnants of pasta sauce. "Well, not anymore," she paused, looking Weiss up and down, eyes coming to a rest on the beauty's chest. "Oh no, you have some on your uniform!"
The teens's eyes widened, peering downward. "Oh no, that will be impossible to—wait, there's nothing!"
"Made you look."
Resisting the temptation to flick some of her tomato sauce, or more like her entire plate, at the girl across the table, the Schnee daughter twirled another tendril of noodles around the fork. She took a bite, silently savoring the wonderful flavor of Yang's homemade red sauce. The two fell into a comfortable silence, just the clinking of silverware against glass filling the void. Letting the chance to eat the chef's still hot dish slip through their fingers was an absurd idea, the food tasting infinitely better than its cold counterpart. The redhead cleared her plate first, releasing the torrent of words from her mouth while Weiss finished the portion still covering the majority of her own platter. The scarred teen barely paid attention, only nodding or making a small comment during each pause of the rambling. Ruby was once again recounting her exploits in the online game Jaune and she played, something Weiss had not even once been interested in.
Having finished her food and standing up to place it in the sink for cleaning later, the white haired girl stood by her chair and spoke, "Ruby, you do understand that I have no idea what any of this means, right?"
"Well," the rambling teen paused, "that's why Jaune's coming over to teach you how to play!"
"Ruby, why would Jaune be the one to teach me when you can just use your laptop? And that's even assuming I want to be taught."
"It's better to start with a friend, and having Jaune come over is easier than the voice chat," she explained, taking a step towards the steps leading upstairs.
A deep sigh left the scarred girl's lips. "I still don't plan on playing, so you two can just play your nerdy games while I finish up the piles of extra work I have."
"Okaaaaay," the dork drawled, scaling the steps in front of her.
Weiss grabbed her bag from the floor and followed suit, up and through the doorway of Ruby's bedroom. Immediately she plopped herself down onto the haphazardly made bed and pulled out a couple of the numerous textbooks her satchel contained. Flipping open to the bookmarked page, the diligent student began answering the bountiful questions. It was usually like this, the two hanging out in Ruby's room, watching a show, playing some games, and talking during whatever it was that they did. If one of them was to be drowning in homework it'd be done first, and then they could enjoy hanging about afterwards. However, a page of notes later the realization that Ruby hadn't spoken in a while dawned on Weiss. Puzzled, she peeked over the edge of the paper to see an empty room.
The sound of two voices echoed up the hallway, male and female. As they turned the corner the beauty whipped her head back down towards the text, pretending that she hadn't paused her work. When the two nerds walked into the room, her critical eyes scanned up and down the lanky geek's body, scrutinizing every aspect of his being. Bedraggled blonde hair ended just below each ear and two deep blue eyes defined his feminine face. Jaune stood with a slight slouch, either from the heavy load in hand or from consistent poor posture. Baggy jeans were belted to the boy's waist and an orange t-shirt was hung loosely off his shoulders, a picture of a character with what Weiss presumed was a reference to the game it was from printed above.
"I don't know why you had me come over. Voice chat would be so much easier," Jaune complained, standing beside the bed and having not yet noticed Weiss.
"It's easier to teach someone when there are two computers in one place," Ruby explained exasperatedly.
"Okay, okay. Well, where's the ice que—" the blonde began to ask, turning and seeing the girl in question seated on Ruby's bed, "Woah!"
"'Ice queen'?"
"I-I, it's, um," the poor boy stammered, glancing at the redhead to his right for help, but receiving none, "It's because your hair is white! Like ice!"
Amused by the teen's failed attempt at covering up the real reasoning for the nickname, the Schnee girl stifled a smile. She already knew that Jaune was aware of her fake school personality, Ruby having explained how she had told the best friend everything from day one. While Weiss was a little upset at first she got over it, because if the boy hadn't said anything yet then he probably didn't plan to anytime soon. Her redheaded pal had an unnatural amount of trust in him, but that may have just been something that came with being best friends. Weiss herself had no experience with such matters, so she couldn't say for sure.
Reaching a dainty but firm hand out for Jaune to shake, the beauty greeted, "Hello, I'm Weiss."
"Jaune." He returned the handshake, damp and limp like a dead fish.
The second laptop was placed on the floor beside the bed, the blonde himself joining it a moment later and sitting down after plugging in the power cord. Ruby, who had been standing and just watching the exchange between the two, brought her own laptop over towards the mattress and settled in beside Ms. Schnee. Ignoring the cry of anger when the papers and books the girl was working on were pushing to the foot of the bed, the nerd placed her computer in front of both of them.
"Time to have fun!" she burst, a grin spreading on her face. From the ground came a small whoop from the blonde.
The teen beside her didn't share the enthusiasm, only grunting.
"Oh come on, Weiss. You'll like it!" Ruby urged.
"I'd rather do my school work."
"Weiss, please," came the begging response, "Just for half an hour, tops. If you don't like it you can go back to your work."
Weighing the options, either listen to Ruby whine and moan while the studious girl answered questions, or play a game for thirty minutes and then have the joy of silence. "Fine. I'll play."
With a squeal so high that only dogs could hear it, Ruby began setting up the game for Weiss to try. "Well, like this game you don't need a mouse for. Sure, it's easier to control with it, but more convenient for playing on the go and stuff. You can create your own character as well, and make 'em whatever you want them to look like. So say you want to play the opposite of yourself? You could make a character that is hideous, has black hair, and is tall!"
Weiss responded to the last word with a simple light elbow to the teasing girl's gut.
"Here, you can make your character now."
Taking control of the touchpad and keyboard, the uninterested teen began going the simple route of making herself. A very light colored character and numerous tips from the girl beside her later, she began typing in a character name. "What? Why is 'Weiss_Schnee' taken?"
The "Uhhhh... yeah, a lot of people play this game. Maybe, because your dad's like a big company owner they took that name?"
"I see. It's just a bit weird that other people would use my name and know who I am."
"Yeah, it's so weird," Ruby let out an awkward laugh, a blush still gracing her cheeks, "But on with the game!"
The crimson faced teen squeezed closer to Weiss in control of the computer, so close that there wasn't even a sliver of space between them , with the sole explanation of how the screen was hard to see from so far away. Deciding not to question the red tint on Ruby's face and continue on with the process of making virtual her, she settled on the name 'Ice_queen' after Jaune suggested it and Weiss found herself enjoying the regalness of the words. The game started off slowly, the nerdy girl pointing out where to go, most likely having already memorized the map. Animations in this game were well done, and even pretty to look at. Nothing was plainly colored, vibrant hues splattering the lush jungle-like scenery. Eventually the teen who had previously wanted to finish up her work lost track of time, and with Ruby's vast knowledge on this virtual world the beginner part of the game went by fast. Out of what Jaune and Ruby both dubbed "noob land", Weiss was given free reign of the world and allowed to interact with fellow players.
"Hey Ruby, who is this creepy guy following me?"
"What?" the redhead looked at where the pale finger was pointing, "Him?"
"Yeah, he keeps following me around and killing whatever I fight with," the beauty clucked, "Weirdest username ever, 'xsuaveladykiller'. Like some sort of serial killer like Ted Bunny."
The teen snorted. "Oh, that's Jaune."
"Yup," the boy on the floor piped up, making his character do a little wave.
"Why didn't you tell me sooner?" Weiss asked, "Then I wouldn't have been creeped out by you following me."
"I did tell you."
"No, you didn't."
"I did! You were just too caught up in the game."
"I was not caught up in this moronic game."
"Yeaaah, definitely," Jaune laughed, "You clearly noticed that the thirty minutes you said you would play passed by nearly an hour ago."
"What?!" Weiss's head jerked towards Ruby's bedside alarm clock, the red numbers reading an hour later than Weiss had planned to play.
"Jaune, I told you not to tell her!" the redhead cried.
The geek groaned, arguing, "At this point does it really matter?"
"Well, I mean, now that I know she likes the game," came the murmured reply, "I guess not."
Sighing, the spoke up, "It was alright." A hand reached out to grab a blue cell phone which was rested on the nightstand screen down. Flipping it over revealed a lit up screen with two texts and a missed call from the chauffeur Reginald. "Shit, Reginald came early today and I missed his texts! What the fuck, why didn't he just come to the door!"
Throwing the laptop off her legs in a panic, the white haired girl rushed to put the scattered books and papers away as neatly possible. With the help of her friend it was done in no time, and the two rushed off down the stairs, Ruby catching her foot on a step and nearly falling. Earning a quick chuckle from the girl next to her. The white boots were pulled on in the blink of the eye, and hand tugging the door open, Weiss paused.
"Thanks, Ruby. For inviting me over and everything."
"Anytime!" she replied, "Do you still want to come over tomorrow?"
The teen hummed. "We'll see, I'll have to check my schedule," a small smile, "Looks like it's clear, I'll be going. See you at school tomorrow."
Door wide open at this point, and Weiss going to step out, Ruby pounced, giving her friend a bear hug Yang would be proud of. "Byeeee!"
"Please let go of me."
Obeying the command, the nerd backed off, and Weiss could feel the silver eyes still watching as she made her way out the door and down the driveway. Reginald's usual sleek black car was parked at the end of driveway, windows tinted just how she liked them, giving her the privilege to not be stared at as the expensive car drove down the street. Then the scarred girl saw something weird: the back seat window rolling down. Immediately she knew the exact reason and stiffed up, praying desperately that she was wrong and it was just a surprise visit from her sister. The pane slowly fell, and with each inch the knot of dread in Weiss's stomach curled into a tighter and tighter ball. All the way down, the blanched hair, calm face, and enraged eyes.
Her father.
The man didn't say anything, but the Schnee girl paused outside the vehicle. He saw the hug. He knew she'd been spending time at Ruby's. He knew the lies about the float club running late. He knew. He knew. He knew. Weiss was a fool, believing she could keep such secrets from the man forever. Now he was here, sitting in the car, his pale blue eyes boring into the daughter's own. The two weeks with Ruby had been some of the best ones of Weiss's recent life, but now they had come to an abrupt end and so had her chance at ever continuing to be friends with the girl.
A/N:
Hello!
I am really sorry about this chapter being almost three days late. The first day I had planned to finish it up I had gotten sick and the second I was stuck in a car for nearly the entire day and couldn't write a word without my siblings breathing down my neck.
But, now it's out and is my longest chapter yet, so I guess that was worth the wait? I hope so. I really enjoyed writing this chapter, haha.
And yeah, Ruby totally has a character named Weiss_Schnee.
I want to to thank and give a shoutout to my buddy Elfenlied1012 for helping me tons during the writing process of this chapter, going over it numerous times and editing, giving genius ideas (seriously, SO MANY FANTASTIC IDEAS), and just being a big bundle of awesome. Please, go check out all three parts of their Vale series and Choice: A RWBY College AU. All of them are amazing!
I'd also like to thank Pozsich for going over the first page or so of the chapter, bugging me constantly to write like the cool person he is, and giving me some helpful advice! Go check out his fab story Relationships!
Okay, see you guys next week, and the new chapter will totally be out soon! Thank you for reading, I love all of you.
Plap plap.
