You couldn't have asked for a more awkward arrangement. An ex-angel, an unstable prophet, and the broken demon they had bad histories with. It certainly wasn't the ideal situation for any of them. But they had to make do.

In fact, everyone seemed to ignore each other the first few days. Crowley spent some time wandering around the bunker. Castiel stayed in Dean's room, watching the news for signs of his brethren. When Crowley grew tired of stretching his legs, he often silently joined Cas, neither acknowledging the other. Kevin bounced back and forth between the library and his room, working tirelessly to translate the angel tablet.

On the third day since The Winchesters left, both Crowley and Castiel found Kevin passed out on the floor. Castiel scooped the young man up. "He's been working so hard. He deserves a rest…" He carried him to his room, tucking him into bed.

"It's funny…" Cas continued, "I never truly comprehended the fragility of humans, until I became one." He turned to Crowley. "what was it like?"

"Hm?"

"Being human. You were one before, being a demon and all…"

Crowley shrugged. "Hated it. I was willing to sell my soul after all, wasn't I? I don't look at it through rose-tinted glasses like some do…"

Cas shook his head. "It's all complex, I know. The demands of my body are tedious… But it has its upsides, humanity…"

Crowley shook his head, trying to ignore the waning humanity. "I hated my life. I hated my son. Demon life has been better. I've seen time and the world. I was… I am a king…"

Cas tilted his head. "What if you had a second chance? At humanity? What would you think?"

"What could humanity offer me?" Crowley asked.

"I… I can't answer that… It's inexplicable…"

"Could you two please discuss philosophies on humanism or whatever somewhere else? Trying to sleep…" Kevin moaned, eyes squeezed shut. The former angel and the demon exited the room.

Castiel took the tablet and placed it somewhere Kevin wouldn't find it easily. Kevin deserved a break. He started to retreat to Dean's room when he saw Crowley head for Sam's. The demon was curled up on Sam's bed. He looked lost.

"Crowley?" Cas asked.

"Hm?"

"Want to join me in watching the news?" It was the first time he invited Crowley.

"Not at the moment… Maybe later…"

Cas nodded and left. "If you need anything, you can turn to me…"

Crowley didn't answer, he just closed the door.
