3:30 pm
Olivia was proud of herself. She had found time in the schedule to squeeze a 30 minute interview in for Fitz and Mellie the next day, she had set up a small, staged photoshoot for Karen picking out college dorm items, and even started drafting an outline for a speech for Fitz.
She forgot how much work she got done when she wasn't trying to steal glances at him.
She picked up her cellphone dialed a familiar number. After a few rings, Harrison answered the phone. She could see the grin on his face.
'Olivia. So nice to hear from you. And what do we owe the pleasure?' he put the phone on speaker so that Abbey and Huck could hear her. Quinn was still sitting in the conference room where she had been all day.
She smiled slightly. She missed handling cases and clients but she knew she'd be back soon enough.
'I'm just checking in with you guys.'
'Harrison is working us like slaves.' Abbey commented sarcastically.
'Any new cases?'
'Yes.' Huck responded but never looked up from his laptop. He had been showing Abbey and Harrison the surveillance they had retrieved earlier that day.
'Where's Quinn?'
'She's a little upset with us right now so she's working in the conference room.' Harrison knew Olivia wouldn't like the sound of that but he had to be honest with her.
'Ah I see. Harrison can I speak with you privately?'
Harrison gestured for Abbey and Huck to leave and he held the phone to his ear, ready to hear whatever criticism she had.
'I shouldn't have to be there for you all to play nice, Harrison. We're gladiators, we work as a team. Quinn was chosen for a specific reason and she was skills that will benefit whatever case you guys are working on. When I come back after the campaign, I still want my same team of 4. Understand?'
'Completely. I'll keep it together.' he promised. She hung up and massaged her temples, making a mental note to have lunch with Quinn to get her side of the story.
She had called to hear good news, not to hear about them bickering. She buried herself in her work, trying to keep her mind off of her stress.
6pm
Olivia was still sitting in the same spot on her couch, surrounded by documents and paperwork when she realized it had started to get a little late and that she was a little tipsy from the wine she had been drinking all day. She never really allowed herself much time to relax but she needed some time to clear her head tonight. After returning all her work to her briefcase, she rubbed her achy shoulder, sore with built up tension.
As she prepared for her bath, her phone rang. Looking at the caller ID, she realized it was Fitz trying to reach her. She wanted nothing more than to talk to him until they both fell asleep but she didn't want to push their bad luck any further. Reluctantly, she put her phone on 'Do Not Disturb' and started stripping out of her clothes.
The White House
Fitz frowned when his phone call went to voicemail. He felt as if he had given her plenty of time to calm down and he was worried about her. He knew that she had 2 agents on her at all times and that they were trained professionals but he needed to see her. Or at the very least hear her voice.
Fitz called again but there was still no answer. His mind racing with possibilities during the few seconds the phone rang.
When Fitz found out they were getting a new campaign fixer, he had no idea she'd end up being the love of his life and didn't take out the time to personally choose bodyguards and now it bothered him that he knew nothing except their names.
Fitz picked up the phone and called again but still, no answer. He knew worrying about her was irrational but he couldn't help himself.
What if they were secretly working for Hollis? What if they had left her alone?
Fitz rubbed his temples hard and sent her a text.
'Olivia, just tell me you're alright.'
5 minutes passed and he didn't get an answer. Without hesitation he pressed a button on his office phone that connected him directly to Tom.
'Tom, I need to leave. Quickly and quietly. Very quickly.'
'Yes sir. A car will be ready in 10 minutes.'
'Make it 5.'
Fitz hung up and sent another text to Olivia.
'I'm on my way'
Fitz was at Olivia's apartment in 15 minutes which was a lot longer than what he had hoped but D.C. was always backed up and without his motorcade, he wasn't able to zoom through traffic. The driver dropped Fitz off behind the building so not to draw any attention to him. Tom had called ahead for the building manager to open the back door so that they could enter quickly. Once inside, they took the elevator to the top floor. Fitz would've been excited if his stomach hadn't been doing flips.
He had checked his phone every 10 seconds to see a response and the fact that he still hadn't gotten one was making him sick. When they go to her door Vince and Brown were sitting in chairs, which they had obviously gotten from her dining room, outside of her apartment. When they saw Fitz emerge from the elevator they both quickly stood and saluted him.
'Is she in here?' his face was slightly pale, flushed with worry.
'Yes sir' they both said in unison.
'Good, I need to see her.'
They didn't know how she would feel about unannounced visitors but there was no way they'd be able to deny him what he wanted. Without another word, Vince opened the door and shut it behind him.
Fitz tried looking around the apartment but all the lights were off except for one at the end of the hall. He could hear soft RnB playing from the bedroom and the smell of citrus candles filled the air. He made his way down the hall and knocked on the bedroom door, not wanting to scare her.
'Olivia?'
Olivia had been laid back in her bathtub, soaking in warm water and listening to D'Angelo and The Vanguard. When she heard his familiar voice, her eyes shot open. She jumped out of her tub and wrapped herself in her plush, powder pink robe and stepped into her bedroom, just to see him standing in her doorway.
'What are you doing here?' she didn't know whether to be happy about seeing him or upset at him for coming. Even though she wanted him there, their reckless behavior had to stop.
'You weren't answering me and I got worried.' he started walking towards her. He knew she was upset but he didn't care. He was just relieved to see she was safe.
'Fitz you cant just come here. You need to get back to the White House.' she started moving out of his reach but his long strides allowed him to reach her quickly. He pulled her into his embrace and held on to her tightly, his nerves finally settling down.
Olivia was about to push him away but she sensed something was a little off. She wrapped her arms around him they just stood in each others presence. After a few moments, she broke their silence.
'Fitz, is there something wrong?'
He kissed the top of her head. 'I was just worried about you, Livvie.'
She tilted her head up and looked him in the eyes, as if trying to read his mind.
'You're not telling me something, Fitz. Whats wrong?'
He placed a gentle kiss on her forehead. 'You're going to kick me out soon. Cant we just enjoy this moment?'
'You always tell me not to hide anything from you so now you have to tell me whats bothering you. We said were in the together.' she protested but he didn't say anything. She decided not to pry anymore. For now.
Olivia knew he'd have to tell her at some point, so she just buried her face back into his chest. He had stepped into her territory and now she wouldn't be able to let him leave. At least not tonight.
After a few more moments he placed another kiss on the top of her head and let her go.
'I'll see you Monday?'
Olivia shook her head, earning a confused look from him. She reached out and grabbed his hand, rubbing her thumb over his knuckles.
'Stay. You can leave in the morning. No later than 8:30. You have an interview tomorrow at 12.' she smiled a little nervously and looked down at their joined hands.
Fitz raised his eyebrows. 'You, Olivia Carolyn Pope, are inviting me to stay the night at your house?'
'Well I guess we are kinda like.. A couple. So I think this is normal.' She laughed a little. Something in the back of her head was screaming and telling her to stop but there was no turning back now. He smiled and pressed his nose against hers.
'I'll tell Tom to bring my overnight bag. Go finish your bath.'
She pressed a kiss to his lips and walked back into her bathroom. Fitz felt like he luckiest man on earth.
While he waited on her to come out he studied her apartment. It was very neat and well put together. Her closet was organized by color and everything had been pressed and ironed, her bed was made up and her lighted vanity displayed all her makeup and hair accessories. She came out and found him curiously studying a bottle of NARS foundation.
'I don't think theres anything for you over there, Fitzgerald.' She was wearing a Nike sports bra and a pair of leggings and had moved her hair to a bun on top of her head. She walked into her closet to find herself a t-shirt to put on.
'No but I see something else over here that I think is for me.' he grinned
She scoffed and pulled an old, gray Harvard shirt over her head. She knew she wouldn't be able to resist him all night but she wanted to make it a little hard for him.
Before long, Tom came with Fitz's bag and she worked on making a small dinner while he changed. He came out of her bedroom wearing a Harvard t-shirt and blue Nike sweatpants. He smiled when he saw her cooking.
'I get a meal, too? Wow, it must be a special occasion.'
'Well I guess you could consider this special. Its not everyday you get to host the President of the United States at your apartment.' she smirked and stirred some sauce that she had in a pot.
He walked over to her and and nosily peaked into the pot. She used her hip to bump him away then looked down at his shirt.
'Must you copy EVERYTHING I do?' she smirked at their matching Harvard shirts, though his was obviously a bit older.
Fitz scoffed. 'I was there first. So who's really the copy cat?'
'You're right, Old Man Grant. You definitely were there first.' she threw a playful grin, knowing that would stir him up.
'I suggest you stop teasing me, Ms. Pope.' he wrapped his arms around her and took her lips but she pulled away and pointed at the table.
'I'll never get dinner done if you're over here. Go have a seat.'
Fitz huffed but sat and watched her work her way around the kitchen, falling into a false sense of normality. He could only imagine having a home with Olivia with little kids running around and maybe a dog. Now he just needed her to see it.
During dinner, Fitz held on to her left hand and they took their time feeding each other.
'You know you cant stay here forever, right?' he smirked as he took a bit of spaghetti off her fork. She cocked her eyebrow.
'What do you mean?'
'I mean that after all this is over and I'm a free man, were going to need enough room to raise the rest of the little Grants.' he grinned widely. She laughed to cover up how nervous that statement made her.
'Well by the time your second term is over, Karen will be 22, Jerry will be 18- and at Harvard, and Teddy will be 8. I have an extra bed and bathroom. We'll have just enough room' she smirked and opened her mouth, welcoming the fork he held to her lips.
'And what about the other 5?' Olivia almost choked. She swallowed her food quickly.
'Five? As in one, two three, four, five?' she held up her fingers for emphasis, causing him to cockily nod his head.
'I think you're thinking a bit TOO much out of the box. Plus, where would we go? Santa Barbra?'
'Nah, we could use it as a vacation home. I was thinking somewhere out of the way where we could own a lot of property so I can do you on the front porch and not be bothered by neighbors.' he grinned, causing Olivia to roll her eyes.
'You have big dreams, Fitzgerald. But 5 is still too many. How about 2?'
'Hmm, I'll meet you at three.'
'Fine.' she leaned forward towards him. 'Kiss and agree'
'Four!' he kissed her before she could protest and held her face there so she couldn't pull away. When he finally let her go she was pouting.
'You cheated, Grant.'
'Sorry Liv.' he poked her side, causing her to laugh.
After they had gotten done with their meal, Olivia loaded the dishwasher while Fitz wiped off the table.
'Think of anything that you may want for dessert?' she opened up her refrigerator. She never kept much food in her house but Abbey had insisted that she at least kept ice cream and somethings to make spaghetti with. Olivia never saw the point but she was thankful tonight.
'I can think of something but you're not going to find it in the refrigerator.'
Olivia blushed and touched her stomach to try and settle the butterflies stirring around. She closed the fridge and turned back to him.
'And what makes you think I'll be serving anything else up?'
'I tend to get what I want. You know, I'm a pretty powerful man. Some might even consider it a turn on.' he grinned and sat down in his seat.
'Well not me. Maybe if you asked me nicely, I'll think about it.' she smiled coyly and walked to where he was sitting. He wrapped her arms around her waist and pressed the side of his face into her stomach, taking in her scent.
She smiled and ran her fingers through his hair but before she could get another word out, he stood up and hoisted her on his shoulder. She yelped and laughed, slightly kicking her legs.
'Stop, Fitz! Put me down!'
Fitz grinned but didn't say anything as she struggled against him. He carried her to her bedroom and gently laid her down on the bed then quickly went for the elastic in her leggings. She raised her hips and pushed her panties down with them. She had been playing had to get all night but now she needed him.
He raised her t-shirt and kissed her flat stomach underneath and made his way down to her warmth. She gasped and when he made contact with her core and slightly tugged at his hair. He used his tongue to draw circles around her clit and she writhed underneath him.
'Fitz, I..' her words were cut off my her moaning as he slid two fingers inside of her, causing her back to arch.
'Hmmm?' he groaned, never stopping his assault on her most intimate part.
'Fitz I need you.' her eyes shut and she tugged harder at his curly hair and trying to raise her hips closer to his mouth.
'I don't think you're ready yet, Olivia.'. Olivia let out a loud, frustrated groan. His tongue began moving faster and she started whimpering. She was going to crawl out her of her skin soon if he didn't stop. She moved her hands from his hair and gripped her sheets as if they were the only thing keeping her grounded on earth. Before long, Fitz could feel her thighs starting to squeeze his face and he knew she was reaching her breaking point. He sucked her bundle of nerves into his mouth and her the hold her thighs had on him became tighter.
When she reached her peak, her body convulsed and her grip on her sheets, his head, and reality started leaving but he kept going. She would have to pay for her constant teasing. Olivia felt her body come apart time and time again until finally she managed to pull his head up so she could look him in the eyes.
'Fitz, please..' it was a desperate whimper. She wasn't sure how many times she had orgasmed but she was sure that if he stayed down there, she was going to pass out.
'Tell me what you want, Livvie.' he kissed her and slid his tongue in her mouth so that she could taste herself.
'I need you' she mumbled against his lips. She reached to push his sweatpants off of his hips but he stood up.
'Maybe if you ask me nicely.' he said mockingly. She sat up and pulled her t-shirt and bra over her head and threw them into the chair beside her bed. She wasn't used to being the one beg for affection but she was getting pretty desperate.
'Please..' her bottom lip poked out involuntarily and she held her arms out for him to crawl back to her. He smirked at her pouty face. She was cute even when she wasn't trying to be. He removed his t-shirt and threw it on top of her clothes.
'You'll have to do better than that, Ms. Pope.' Olivia groaned in frustration. She rolled over and supported herself on her hands and knees, showing off her backside that he loved to squeeze and smack so much. She threw a devious look over her shoulder.
'Fitzgerald. Get over here.'
Fitz hadn't planned to give in so easily but she wasn't playing fair. Without a second thought, he dropped his sweat pants and boxers to the floor and moved over to her and started placing kisses on her spine. She started to fidget underneath him and he pushed himself deep inside of her to stop her complaints. She cried out loudly. It had felt like weeks since she last felt him inside of her and she missed him so much. Fitz kept his pace fast and hard, causing her to gasp whenever he thrusted himself back in. Before long she felt herself start to fall apart and upon reaching her orgasm, her arms grew weak and she fell forward, now supporting herself on her elbows. Fitz grabbed her hair and pulled her up then turned her head so that he could kiss her. She wrapped her arms around his neck and held on to him to try and keep what little balance she had.
Soon after he felt himself come apart and let his seed flow through her. After he was finished, he rolled over on his bed and pulled her on top of him. Olivia started placing kisses on his chin and neck, a silent thank you for all he had done. He wrapped his arms around her and felt himself drifting off to sleep. He knew he'd have to leave in the morning but he got his best rest when he knew she was close.
Olivia didn't rest though. Her mind was still racing. After an hour Fitz mumbled to her.
'Olivia, you're thinking too much. Go to sleep, little woman'
His voice slightly startled her, she had assumed he was still asleep. 'Can we talk for a minute?'
'Is it about work?'
'And if it is?'
'Then no, I'm terribly fatigued.' he dramatically draped his arm over his eyes, causing her to giggle.
'It's not about work.'
He smiled and moved his hands back down to her butt and started kneading it. 'Then yes, I would love to talk to you.'
Olivia let out a slight moan. 'I wont be able to if you're doing that.'
'Alright' he smirked and sat up, bringing her up with him so that she straddled his lap. She placed a hand on his cheek, carefully caressing it. She still needed to know what was bothering him earlier but she wanted to ease into the subject.
'Im sorry.' he shot her a confused look but she continued. 'For leaving out like that earlier. I should've waited. I know that was the first time you had seen Cyrus since I told you.. The news.. And I should've been there to support you. And, I should've responded to your texts.'
He grinned and pressed their noses together. She was so perfect.
'It's ok, Livvie. But you have to stop running away from this, alright?'
She smiled and nodded and placed a kiss on his mouth, letting her lips linger afterwards. He was so perfect.
'Alright.'
'I'm serious, Olivia. No more running. We stand together from now on'. He almost had a heart attack today but he'd never let her know that. She nodded and placed her forehead on his.
'Plus, I have issued a 'Knock Only' rule on my door. Of course with some exceptions.' he chuckled.
'Oh really? And would one of the names on that list be Olivia Pope?'
'Nah, I wouldn't want you coming in while I'm banging an intern.' he grinned playfully but gasped when she pinched his side and twisted his skin. He placed a kiss on her lips and smiled.
'Of course. Olivia Pope is the only name on the list.'. Her stomach eased a little. She knew he was joking but it still made her a little tense.
'You know, you could get into a lot of trouble for assaulting the President like that. You might want to watch your back'
'Its a good thing it's the girlfriend hours and I cant get into trouble.' she teased.
They talked lightly for the rest of the night, exchanging kisses and laughs until they both fell asleep in each others arms.
