Kate shifted the duffle bag on her shoulder as she steppe off the plan. Her eyes scanning the area for Anna who had promised to pick her up. A grin spread across her face as she saw her friend standing there with a bright green poster with neon letter that read KB OVER HERE. She chuckled softly and made her way to her friend, quickly wrapping her up in a huge hug.
"KB!" Anna said as she practically lifted Kate off the floor.
"Anna it is so good to see you. I love the sign." Kate said taking a step back and giving her friend a huge grin.
"Yeah, well Sarah is excited to see you."
"And how is that child of yours."
"A handful. Greg just told me last night to make a list of all the things I did to get myself into trouble."
"Oh, your husband has finally realized she is going to take after you. Has he started crying yet?"
"Very funny KB. So you want to tell me why you suddenly needed to come see me." Anna said as she threw Kate's duffle in the trunk of her car.
"God this would be easier with Caroline."
"Yeah well, she is on a business trip in Europe and I am straight to the point.
Kate sighed and began her story. They were just finishing putting Kate's stuff in the guest bedroom, when Kate finished her story. So I left my Dad's called you and flew out here." Kate finished as she law across the king bed. Anna lay next to her. "So you just walked out the door."
"I didn't just walk out the door. I tried to tell him she was wrong, but he told me to leave what choice do I have."
"Are you going to hate me if I'm honest?"
"No, I could never hate you. Be annoyed with you yes plenty of times, but I could never hate you."
"Look Kate, Castle is an idiot for listening to his daughter. From what you have told me about her she seems like a great kid, but a kid is what she is. She may be 18, but that is just a number. She only knows bits and pieces. She has a right to her opinion and she should tell him how she fells, but it should not have been handled the way he did."
"I agree with that."
"The thing is though you should have fought harder. You should have refused to leave. You should have fought him and sat outside his door until his doorman or the police removed you. Castle fought for you for years and the best you could do was a couple sentences and then you left. I don't know what you were thinking KB."
Kate was quiet for a couple moments. She then sniffled and replied, "Shit, you're. Why can't I get this right?" I just screw up one thing after another. What the hell is wrong with me?'
"Do you want me to keep going or is that enough?"
"No, don't stop now." Kate said as she pressed her hand into her eyes trying to stop the tears.
"Why couldn't you tell him you loved him KB. I've known for the past year you love him. The way you talk about him in your letters and how you talked about him in the car there is no doubt in my mind. You already know he loves you, so there is no fear that he won't say it back. I understand he shouldn't have pressured you to say it, but I have to know why couldn't you say it? Why couldn't you say those three little words when it mattered the most?"
"Because I'm a moron."
"KB, I'm serious." Anna said as she sat up on the bed.
Kate sat up quickly. " I am being serious. I am an idiot. I just thought we had literally just gotten together last night. We didn't even get the chance to talk about what was going on with us. It was to soon. That is what I was thinking. I just never expected to fall in love with him before we dated. It had never happened before. I thought maybe I was crazy. Caste feels so openly and I'm so closed off. He asked me and something inside me was yelling it's too soon and like a moron I listened to it. He is my one and done an I just screw it up time and time again."
"So what are you going to do about it?" Anna asked as she stepped off the bed.
"I'm going to fight."
