Note: I appoligize. I have been stuck and any work I have for a new chapter in the main story is on paper or in a flash drive. Thankfully I have back ups because my computer quit last year or early this year. The laptops keyboard is difficult to type with. I have a new computer but need a set up and some inspiration. Went through and did a little edit, not much changed. Enjoy this little filler chapter.
Chapter Ten
Half Blood Prince
Severus had gone by the Half Blood Prince secretly for years now. Knowing that he was adopted makes this title confusing to hsi brother and friends that know, but there is a reason. He was adopted into the Prince family through use of a special blood adoption that added blood without taking any out. Under his new identity he couldn't claim Potter or Black. Claiming Prince was his only real option. Everyone always assumed that Eileen had run off to be with a muggle. This however, was not as true as it appeared.
The Snapes were and old family that had kept themselves to themselves for centuries. Over time they had been forgotten, especially as more and more squibs had been born into the family. They remembered their family history, even if they didn't broadcast it to the world at large. Eileen had fallen in love with the last member of the Snape family. Their inability to naturall have children wore Tobias down to a point of no return. The gifing of a child helped for a time, but the appearance of the childs magic sent Tobias into a frenzy.
Having no magic himself and unable to have natural children, Tobias grew cold and distant. His behavior was barely noticeable at first, easily ignored by his wife. The first signs of magic in Severus that caused Eileen to encourage his growth and show her own only served to enrage Tobias further. His behavior was dispicable and by the time Severus graduated the man had drank himself to death. Very few knew of the abuse and those that did could do very little in the grand scheme of things. Eileen, the poor woman, had died shortly after Severus had married Lily from a broken heart and her own subsequent substance abuse. Eileen's had been poition in nature. She had managed to hold on as long as she did for her son, but she had loved her husband too deeply to go on without him. He had his faults, but as most will tell you: Love is blind and has few if any boundaries.
These unfortunate happenings contirbuted to Severus' self title of Half Blood Prince. There are few of any people who will ever know the real reason behind the name.
