A searing pain comes to my wrists. I'm sitting on a chair, I think. I open my eyes; I'm in a warehouse. My hands are tied behind a chair, and my feet are tied. I slowly look around. Nina, Fabian and Amber are on the floor to my right whispering. Alfie and Joy sleep next to them. Patricia sleeps next to Eddie to my right. Wait, Eddie? Everyone is tied up by their hands and feet.

I whisper slurred, "What's going on? Where are we?"

Nina, Fabian and Amber turn to face me. Fabian whispers, "We think it might have to do with Rufus."

Rufus? Why is that so familiar? Yes, from the book. No, somewhere else.

Alfie rolls over and opens his eyes.

I say, "Are you okay?"

Alfie says, "Yes, if you get rid of the pain in my wrists."

Joy wakes up. A few minutes Eddie clearly wakes up, but doesn't move so Patricia is not disturbed. A few minutes after Patricia wakes up. Startled, she pushes away from him hitting a stack of boxes knocking them over.

A man I recognize comes into the room; Monkey. He is Rufus.

He says, "Glad you're all awake." He walks up to me, "I hope you're okay."

I say, "My wrists hurt."

He says, "To get you out of that you'll need a knife. I'll get you one."

He smiles and leaves the room.

Patricia says, "I said she couldn't be trusted. She knows Rufus."

Fabian whispers, "Monkey?"

I nod. Joy says, "That's not why you think she's familiar. She's Piper's best friend."

Patricia says, "Okay, maybe, but she knows Rufus."

Eddie says, "The same way she knows my dad and Victor."

Patricia says, "What?"

I say, "I'm curious on what you know now, Eddie."

He says, "That you know my dad, Victor, that guy, and a guy named John."

I say, "Um… how do you know this?"

Eddie says, "Hiding a book under Fabian's bed is enough. By the way, it's easy to translate stuff on the Internet."

"Oh… so you know about me."

He says, "I know you can get us out of here."

I say, "If none of you say anything I will get us out."

Amber says, "What are we not supposed to say?"

I say, "Don't tell any one that I'm not human."

Nina, Amber, Patricia and Joy say at the same time, "What?"

I pull my hands apart ripping the thick, tight rope apart. The broken rope falls to the floor. I pull the rope off my legs. I get up and go help Alfie out of his ropes. I move quickly and get the ropes off of everyone.

I say, "When Rufus comes back, I'm going to knock him out, then we can get out."

A few minutes later, Rufus walks into the room. I tackle him to the ground and sink my fangs into his neck. Soon, he passes out and we make our way out of the warehouse.
