*~Chapter Ten : Unloved~*
Todd stood over Marty as she slept in her bed, tear stains on her face. He lovingly covered her with a blanket as he knelt down, spilling out his heart to her.
"I love you, Marty. I've always loved you," he stated. "I'm sorry for hurting you, for kidnapping you, but I only wanted you back."
"I made so many mistakes, because I felt alone and unloved. You betrayed me..." He paused then as he choked on his tears. He couldn't say another word.
When he turned away to cry, he didn't know that Marty had awakened. She had heard every word. He stiffened when she reached out, lightly touching his hand.
"Please, Todd," she whispered. "Bring Cassandra here. I need our little girl."
Todd looked into her eyes. They were dark with sorrow, matching the torment within his own. "Alright, Marty, Cass has been asking for her mom. I will bring her to you first thing in the morning, but you better not try anything stupid. If you attempt an escape, there will be consequences."
"What sort of consequences?" Marty asked. "What more can you do to me, Todd?"
She saw the pain flashing in his eyes. Marty let out a long, heavy sigh. "I promise, I won't try anything," she said. "I just need to see her. I need to hold my beautiful girl."
"I will bring her to you in the morning. Get some sleep," Todd whispered. He walked across the floor, then he was gone. Marty fell asleep, wrapped in sorrow.
