I apologize for the lateness of his update, but I thought it would've been done last weekend, but I was sidelined with a bad cold. I'm better now so here you go! Please let me know what you think. Chapter 10

(It is just after 6pm and everyone has eaten supper. John is in his office tending to work duties. Toby is upstairs in his room listening to music. Bay is helping her mother with the dishes when Kathryn speaks)

Kathryn: "Thank you, honey, for helping with the dishes. You know you didn't have to, though."

Bay: (shrugs) "I don't mind." (rolls her eyes) "It's not like I had anything better to do anyway."

Kathryn: "No homework?"

Bay: (chuckles softly) "For once, no. I got it all done at school."

Kathryn: (nods & smiles) "That's always a nice feeling."

Bay: "I take it Toby didn't want to help as well?" (referring to the dishes)

Kathryn: (laughs) "You know your brother. He needs to be in the mood."

Bay: (snorts) "He sure is in the mood to go after Emmett a lot."

(Kathryn looks at Bay with a concerned face)

Kathryn: "What do you mean?"

Bay: (chuckles dryly) "Let's just say he thinks he knows everything when it comes to Emmett."

Kathryn: (winces) "I take it he's still having issues with him?"

Bay: (chuckles sarcastically) "That's an understatement, mom."

Kathryn: (raises her eyebrows) "Oh, boy. What did I miss?"

Bay: (sighs) "Toby blames Emmett for wrecking his relationship with Simone."

Kathryn: (puzzled) "I didn't realize their relationship was that serious."

Bay: (shakes her head) "It wasn't. But to Toby, he did care for her." (nods & shrugs) "I mean, I'm not saying his relationship with her didn't mean anything, but from what I've seen and the way he confided in me, it wasn't a good relationship because she wanted sex and he didn't."

Kathryn: (scoffs) "If you ask me, Simone is not worth it and Toby deserves better. If all she was interested in was sex, I'm sure there are plenty more guys out there for her." (smiles) "I'm glad he didn't go down that road."

Bay: "Yeah, well, he did come close a few times."

Kathryn: (sighs) "I am not happy with her trying to get further with my son. I know you and Simone used to be friends."

Bay: (laughs sarcastically) "Yeah, that was like a million years ago. In the end she treated me like crap." (sighs in relief) "I'm happy she's out of my life, at least, she has been for awhile."

Kathryn: (hopeful smile) "How are things going with Emmett?"

Bay: (sighs deeply) "I wish I knew. I mean, the last time we talked, we didn't get everything out in the open and I know we need to." (sighs in frustration) "I'm so confused on what to do. I mean, I know we need to talk more, but I honestly don't know what the future holds for me and Emmett."

Toby: "He needs to mind his own damn business and know he can't sweet talk his way back into your life."

(Bay and Kathryn turn halfway around to see Toby in the kitchen entrance. They look at him with surprised looks)

Bay: "How long have you been standing there?"

(Toby has his arms folded and he shrugs)

Toby: "Long enough to know you're thinking about giving that son of a bitch another chance."

(Bay looks at her brother shockingly. She knew he wasn't pleased with Emmett, but his behavior was beginning to get out of hand. Kathryn sighs as she tilts her head)

Kathryn: "Toby, honey, your sister is just confused on what she wants right now."

(As Toby walks to them, he gestures angrily)

Toby: "Confused, huh?" (shrugs) "Sure didn't look that way to me." (shakes his head) "Bay, when are you going to realize Emmett was in the wrong for what he did to you...to me?"

(Before Kathryn can say anything, Bay puts the dishrag on the counter and walks to Toby)

Bay: "Toby, I'm aware of what he has done." (raises her hands) "Don't you think I'm already frustrated about everything?" (shrugs & shakes her head) "I know he cheated. And that it was with Simone." (scoffs) "It's kind of hard to think of anything else." (sighs) "But I'm trying to put it behind me. It's definitely not easy, but it's not healthy, either." (sympathetically) "But, I...I honestly believe he is sincere in his remorse."

Toby: (scoffs) "Sincere, my ass."

(This time, before Bay can respond, Kathryn interrupts)

Kathryn: "Toby, I know you are mad and you have every right to be, but you and your sister are two different people. You have different feelings on life. You need to respect that."

Toby: (nods) "I've respected pretty much all of her decisions, even though I may not have agreed with them." (to Bay) "I know you pissed him off when you got involved with his family life even when he asked you not to, but for him to cheat on you because of it?"

(Bay looks at her brother with a serious face)

Bay: "Toby, Emmett never pretended he was perfect." (points at herself) "I'm not perfect." (shakes her head & points at Toby) "Neither are you."

(Bay then looks at him with almost sad eyes)

Bay: "Haven't you ever made a mistake that you wish you could take back?" (sighs) "Emmett knows he screwed up. He was wrong when he did. But I can tell he's honestly trying to make up for it."

(Toby takes a minute to think about what his sister just said. A part of him knew she was right because you're not human if you've never made a mistake. But then again, he was angry because he felt Bay was ready to forgive Emmett and he wasn't completely sure Emmett deserved it, at least not yet. But he knew damn well he wasn't getting anywhere with all of this anger. He sighs deeply and shrugs in defeat)

Toby: "Maybe you're right. Maybe he does mean well." (shake his head) "Simone's not innocent in all this. Has she tried to contact you about all of this?"

Bay: (nods) "Oh, yes." (chuckles sarcastically) "She's tried to make amends, but I just brush her off." (shakes her head) "I don't believe her."

Toby: (shakes his head) "I don't think she's being sincere, either. She's always been like this, but I guess I just saw what I wanted to see."

Bay: (scoffs) "Don't worry. Same thing happened to me regarding her, too." (tilts her head) "Have you spoken to her since everything happened?"

Toby: (shakes his head) "Nope and I won't if I have the choice, but I'm sure I'll bump into her sooner or later."

(Kathryn smiles slightly that the two of them seemed to have settled their differences, at least for the moment. In the park, Emmett sees Simone coming towards him. She was the last person he wanted to see, but being she already saw him he knew he couldn't avoid her. He does his best to avoid eye contact with her, but it fails when she stands in front of him. He tries to go around her, but she signals for him to look at her)

Emmett: (angrily) "What?!"

(She looks at him in confusion. She almost forgot that she needed to sign in order to speak to him. She shakes her head)

Simone: "I-I don't understand you."

(Emmett pulls out his cell phone and as he is about to type what he is trying to say, he sees Daphne going for a walk. He is relieved when she comes in their direction. Daphne waves at him and he waves back. He signs and asks her if she can interpret what he wants to tell Simone. She nods before looking at Simone and speaks)

Daphne: "He asked me to interpret for him being you don't sign."

Simone: (nods) "Okay."

(Emmett signs to Daphne, which Simone looks between the two. When he finishes, Daphne nods and looks at Simone)

Daphne: "He says, 'I have no desire to speak to you. I told you to leave me alone before. I already wrecked my relationship with Bay because of our one night stand. What more do you want?"

(Simone sighs before she looks at Daphne and speaks)

Simone: "I just wanted to tell him I'm sorry and that if it helps, Bay isn't speaking to me, either."

(Daphne looks at Simone with slight hatred before she turns to Emmett and signs what Simone just told her. He scoffs slightly in response before he signs to Daphne. She nods when he's finished and looks at Simone)

Daphne: "He says, 'I don't care if you're sorry, Simone. But the truth of the matter is, I know I was in the wrong as well regarding everything. It was a mistake when we slept together. I was angry at Bay and I wasn't thinking when I betrayed her like that. That is a mistake I will have to live with for the rest of my life. But if you think I want anything to do with you, you're sadly mistaken. And for the record, Bay is starting to speak to me again. Yes, it may be in baby steps, but I will take that over her silence. I don't have anything to say to you, so please leave me alone."

(Emmett looks at Simone in frustration as he folds his arms. He proceeds to looks between Daphne and Simone. Simone sighs deeply and nods before she speaks to Daphne)

Simone: "Tell him I won't both him anymore and that I am sincerely sorry about everything." (to Daphne) "Thank you for your help. I appreciate it."

(Simone walks away, leaving Daphne and Emmett there together. Emmett looks at Daphne)

Emmett: (sighs) "Do I dare ask what she said?"

Daphne: "She apologized and said she won't bother you anymore. She also thanked me for interpreting."

(Daphne shrugs and smiles in hopefulness)

Daphne: "If it helps she did seem sincere."

Emmett: (raises his eyebrows) "Are you feeling sympathy for her now?" (shrugs) "It's your choice, of course, but I don't have any for her."

Daphne: (shakes her head) "She may seem sincere, but I still don't care to ever see her again."

(Emmett looks down before facing his friend. He doesn't know whether to ask his next question, but decides to anyway to satisfy his endless curiosity)

Emmett: "How's Bay?"

Daphne: (nods) "She's good." (hopeful smile) "I know she hasn't exactly admitted it much, at least around me, but she misses you. The way she acts or how her face looks when your name is brought up, it's obvious she does."

(Emmett looks at Daphne and nods)

Emmett: "I miss her, too. No matter what happens in life, I will always love her." (sighs) "She will always be...my Bay."

(Daphne looks at him sadly. She felt so bad for him as she knew his heart was breaking. She attempted to comfort him by placing her hand on his shoulder and offers a smile. She releases her hand and signs)

Daphne: "This may be selfish of me to say because I care about you both..." (shakes her head) "But please don't ever give up on her."

Emmett: (shakes his head) "Never. The day I met her, I gave her my heart. I know we barely knew each other then, but there was something about her."

Daphne: (smiles) "What you two have is special."

Emmett: (nods) "To me, she will always be perfect...my perfect Bay."

I wasn't sure whether this way a good chapter or not, but this was what came out when I started writing. I hope you did like it and will let me know if you liked or not. Reviews would be great.
