Reporter:And in other news the Dark Kingdom announced today that they bought the `dot dee kay' top level domain from Denmark, in the first ever sale of a national top level domain.
A top level domain is a root entry on the internet domain name system, a global hierarchical scheme for naming computers.
Danish entities will be allowed to continue to use the .dk top level domain until ICANN, the official body in charge of names and numbers, assigns the nation a new top level domain.
Dark Kingdom spokesperson Mizuno Ami explains,

Mizuno:We had been running the entire country off a .jp subdomain, but since ICANN has been noodling around on getting us a TLD since the beginning of last year, we decided to take action on our own. Denmark is a well-established country, and should have less trouble securing a new TLD.
