Chapter 10

Well here is chapter 10. I admit that you all are rather unhelpful in ideas for this story -_-. Oh well I kinda over reacted in the whole like 'I may have to end the story thing' but blah blah blah. I want to thank everyone for the over 13 thousand views on my first story. Thank you all so much! I love you all. Btw I'm making this mainly a NaLu chapter so hold for some fluffy goodness (also it may be a OCC sorry)

Lucy glanced over the side of the boat but felt her eyes strangely glued to the sight. She smiled a bit. This was a beautiful world. Undeveloped and natural, it was one of the most entrancing things she had ever experienced.

"Hi" said a voice happily behind her. She jumped a bit, thinking she was alone. Whirling around she, her heartbeat immediately steadied at the sight. Natsu stood there smiling his large carefree smile.

"Hey Natsu" she said, her words smiling.

"Why are you staring at the water, did you drop something?" he asked his pure, curiosity leaking through his face.

Lucy rolled her eyes; Natsu would never understand the beauty of nature.

"So why?" he asked again.

"Shut up Natsu and just look, look at the different colors and the way everything reflects off the water, even the way the water dances" she said, sighing.

"It's different from our world," he said, squinting at the water. Lucy held back a sigh. That was probably all she would get from Natsu in matters of deep thinking.

"The water, it seems so different, so alive." He noted, "I mean just look at all the fish! Happy would have a field day here". Lucy laughed; Natsu really was rather intelligent in his own special way.

"I'm glad you like it here" she said, smiling a beautiful smile. Natsu felt a strange heat gather in his cheeks. He pushed his gaze back to the ocean, willing it to go away.

Lucy felt her heart speed up. Why had Natsu blushed? He never blushed! She wasn't even sure that his body knew how. Natsu felt rather awkward. He felt like he needed to say something to Lucy. He wasn't sure what to say, but he felt like he needed to say something. Lucy felt the same silence pressing down on her shoulders. It was strange; she had never had a conversation like this with Natsu before. Sure they were best friends, but they had never had a conversation that felt quite like this one. She felt awkward and the strange bubbly feeling in her stomach kept growing, until it became uncomfortable.

"Hey Natsu?" she asked, feeling her cheeks grow red. He looked at her, head cocked.

"I uh… well, I…" she trailed off.

"Hey Luce, you feeling alright?" Natsu asked, "your all red and stuttery"

"Oh um, yeah, I was wondering, a few nights ago, when we slept, ah, next to each other in that hotel room"

"Why is that any different from all of the other times?" he asked innocently.

"Um, I'm not really sure. It just felt… different" she muttered. Gray's voice called to Natsu in the distance.

"I'm gonna see what the icy bastard wants" Natsu said rolling his eyes and walking away. Lucy sighed, why had that time been so different, why was she feeling like this?

One of life's unanswered questions, I guess, she thought sadly

Later that day, when the sun was long gone and the stars decorated the sky, Lucy sat atop the roof of the control room, enjoying the silence. She lie back and sighed. This was the first peaceful moment she had really had since arriving in this world.

"Hey" said Natsu, making Lucy jump. When had he gotten here?

"Oh! H-hi Natsu" Lucy stammered. She felt the intense blush, still lingering suddenly darkened.

"Can I ask you something?"

"Um, sure, I guess"

"What's love?" Lucy almost laughed at the question. She was so surprised she wasn't exactly sure how to react.

"Why do you ask that?" she wondered out loud.

"I don't know, I was just wondering" he muttered, sounding rather embarrassed. `

"I guess love is when you would do anything for that person and you can't imagine ever being without them" Lucy answered.

"I… I already feel like that though," he said, sounding rather panicked.

"Well love is kinda hard to describe, but you'll know when you feel it" she said reassuringly.

"What you said, about love, that's how I feel for you" Natsu said still seeming confused.

"Well, that might be because I'm your partner!" Lucy said, rolling her eyes.

"O-oh… right" Natsu said.

"But maybe not" Lucy whispered quietly.

"What?"

"Oh! Um, nothing" she stammered.

"I should probably get to bed soon" Lucy said, "and stay in your own bed tonight okay dummy?"

"I… okay"

Lucy hesitated before giving him a small peck on the cheek and clambering down off the roof. Natsu waited a moment before mimicking her. He found his way to his room, and flopped down on his bead, trying to sort through his feelings. Lucy had kissed him on the cheek before so why was this different? He felt weird; he still wanted to be up on that roof with her, just watching the stars. Just those few minutes had made him so happy just to be with her and see her face made his stomach flutter, if this was love then he wasn't exactly sure if he liked it or not. He also felt a weird fear. Did she feel the same way? What if she didn't? Would he be able to ever know?

Natsu turned on his side. Now he was never going to be able to sleep.

For the next few hours of the night he simply thought of Lucy, until he fell into a strange half sleep stage. His eyes were closed and his breathing clamed, but he kept a smile on his face all through the night.

And I present to you chapter 10. This was really hard to write for some reason. Oh well, this was a filler; next chapter will be back to the story.
