Welcome back everybody, I am glad to be up and about after the accident so now we shall begin the events of Elysium. Anyway I am itching for the story to start so it shall begin.
Hazard company was Atlas' answer to highly dangerous combat zones or planets with posionous atmospheres. Equipped with heavy duty haz-mat combat suits and respirators, the company used heavy weapons platforms and mechs to traverse terrain and deal with threats, enviromental or organic like animals or enemy soldiers.
They had been stationed on Elysium for R&R and for recruits to train in their gear and protocols, so when the alarms went off they were up and ready in minutes. They set up defensive positions and had anti-air prepared before the first Merc ships had entered the atmosphere. The AA-245 "Shrapnel Spreader" was the newest Atlas weapon designed in house and patented, it fired canisters filled with Neodymium magnets, their strenght would allow them to be pulled to metal from several feet away, allowing shrapnel to "guide" themselves towards enemy fighters.
The air was quickly filled with exploding canisters that shredded the first wave of fighters and dropships before they could even react to the shrapnel cloud. The later waves of fighters and dropships veered off to steer clear of the Atlas base to land safely.
Combat teams moved through the streets to escort civilians to bunkers and safe zones. Combat teams consisted of six troopers and a group of between two to three CLAWs and an escort of eight or so AGRs. Hazard companies' Claws and AGRs are different then the base model used by most of Atlas. The CLAWs were equipped with two forward flamethrowers and multi-purpose mortars while the AGRs had a shotgun filled with shrapnel buckshot and sensor.
Specialist teams set up remote sniper cannons and mortars to support them and the Planetary Defense Forces. The first shots weren't fired until half an hour after the first ship landed. The event resulted in the quick death of the Mercs who were unprepared for the large amount of heavy weapons carried by the Atlas forces. Shortly after there were raging gunfights waging across the city and even through the buildings around them.
Underneath the feet of the Mercs crawled Talons, these mechs were designed to be rapid strike combat mechs used to take out groups of enemies before they could react. They looked like cats the size of jaguars armed with rending claws and twin shotguns placed on the forward shoulders a small grenade launcher imbedded into the back. The mech was upgraded from the Fenris mech.
The sewers had been secured shortly into the invasion so they couldn't sneak around in them. This secured most of the city as sensors had been placed at certain intersections to alert them to possible infiltrators. Despite the preparedness of the defenders they were outnumbered severely by the invading Mercs. Hazard company only had one hundred and fifty troopers and a compliment of two hundred AGRs, CLAWs, and sixty Talons. The PDF had just one hundred men in the city. The Mercs on the other hand had hundreds of men pouring into the city from the fleet in orbit, it was only due to the Atlas Deicide anit-orbital cannons at their operations base in the north section of the capitol city.
They could only keep the Mercs from getting the civilians as they couldn't push the Mercs out of the city. Marcus Hinds leaned out of cover to fire his Avenger at the Atlas forces when a large 50 caliber sniper round tore through his chest and put a deep gouge into the concrete behind him as the fire fight waged. Dozens of Mercs fought against a team of four Hazard troopers fighting with two CLAWs and equipped with heavy machine guns, the fight had lasted an hour with the Mercs still not taking the position with dozens of bodies littering the street, sadly there were indeed a few Atlas troopers laying in the street blood oozing onto the ground.
Drone cover kept enemy fighters and gunships from attacking their fortified positions while the AA-craft were sweeping the skies of any enemy aircraft or surveillance drones. Artillery pounded at the city streets and buildings while tanks fought in the streets and alley ways. Raging gun fights and small skirmishes flourished and erupted everywhere.
Hunter was in the middle of a fight as he replaced the drive motor on an Atlas APC carrying civilians. Bullets pinged against the armor and ground as his team fired at any threats against him. A round pinged by just inches from his head as he finally got the motor running. He slapped the side of the wall hard to get the APC going as he put three rounds into the Salarian that nearly hit him. He ducked into cover as the convoy kept moving. As they fighting started Atlas had begun evacuating civilians to bunkers to keep them safe.
Up in orbit the Merc fleet had cleared the area with the few defensive ships that the Alliance had posted over the colony. They lurked at the edge of the Deicide cannon's range as dropships flew between the fleet and planet. They knew it would be hours in not days before the Alliance could muster a fleet to push them off the planet.
Thousands of light years away at the Mass Relay a fleet jumped consisting of four cruisers painted black with red accent color with the Atlas symbol proudly displayed on the side being escorted by two dozen destroyers and frigates with eight small "Pack Mule" drone hives. These hive are packed with two hundred drones with eighty torpedeo drones. Torpedeo drones were the bomber version of a regular drone to allow disruptor torpedeos and MAHEMs at enemy fighters and ships. Leading the swarms were the experimental "Ace" drones, these were larger drones linked to a special server that was loaded with the flight and combat data of some of the best fighter Aces known to the galaxy. They were an attempt to make the drones better fighters.
The fleet headed straight towards Elysium with the intent to secure the orbital planes so relief forces and combat reinforcements could land. The four cruisers fired their guns which were the first shots of an actual ship to ship directed energy weapon, of course unknown to the galaxy at large Atlas had dozens of ships with DEWs. The first Merc ships to die were three frigates and two corvettes while dozens of fighters and a couple bombers were taken down by the first drone swarms as they slammed into the fighter screen. The fighting was fierce as dozens of fighters and drones died every minute.
The Merc fleet was cumbling stuck between the planetary defense cannons and the Atlas fleet while being carved at by the drones. At the Relay it flared aqqs the relief forces arrived with a destroyer escort. They headed as fast as they could towards Elysium, skirting the fighting to start landing procedures and heading down, launching relief pods filled with ammo and men towards hotspots and check-points.
The fight started to creep towards Atlas' favor as men and armor started to arrive and push the Mercs out of the streets.
Hey everybody, hehe, sorry about the silence. I forgot about this story. I didn't even think of until an old story I was following updated and I received an email. My doctor says I might have suffered some damage to the memory centers of my brain during my accident. So I have made the decision to put this story up for adoption due to my forgetfulness. If you want to use my story as a base or continue it let me know and I will place a chapter up to let everybody know whos using it, or if I forget my brother will remind me.
Sorry everybody, peace out
