There were many words that could be used to describe last night. If you asked Zelda, magical would be at the top. Last night was the best night ever. Not only did she reveal her true feelings toward her long time crush and reigning champion Samus Aran, but she also went further with Samus and even slept with her. Zelda had one hand underneath her pillow and the other was underneath her chin. She inhaled slowly and reached out with the hand underneath her chin and wanted to feel Samus' body before she actually woke up; but as her arm dropped, she felt nothing but the mattress. She opened one eye and didn't see Samus in bed. She slowly sat up and looked around; it was as if Samus had never been there.
"No…" She whispered. Her nightmares had come true. Last night, Samus promised never to leave her again, but it seems that she was not true to her word. "No. No." She repeated in the same hushed tone as she desperately tried to find a note, a letter, anything proving that Samus hadn't lied to her. "She couldn't…She wouldn't…" Zelda felt her eyes water when she heard a voice.
"Are you still in bed? Get up." Zelda turned to see Samus walking out of the bathroom, combing her hair. "C'mon, let's go." She grabbed one of Zelda's hands and pulled her up. Zelda was still naked from the fun they had last night, but Samus was fully dressed. Zelda breathed a huge sigh of relief.
"I…I thought you…left me." She said as she smiled to her new girlfriend. She rolled her eyes and smiled back.
"I promised you I wouldn't. Now we're going to be late if you don't get moving." She informed Zelda who was still replaying the events last night.
"Yesterday…you said…"
"Yep." Samus responded to Zelda as she finished combing her hair. Samus then went to grab a light blue hair tie to hold the pony part of her ponytail.
"And…last night we-"
"Uh-huh." Samus responded again as she applied make-up to the hickey Zelda had given her last night. She was a little disappointed that she had to cover it up, but she knew that if the media found out, they would swarm her like the vultures they are.
"And after that, I-" Samus walked over to Zelda and placed a finger on her lips.
"Yesterday, I told you that I loved you. Last night, we had sex, and after that, you made me promise never to leave you again. Now if we're done reminiscing, you need to take a shower and we need to leave now." Samus said as she gently slapped Zelda's butt on the last word. She yelped as her rear tightened for a second and she quickly made her way to the bathroom. Samus sighed and looked in the mirror again.
'I…can't believe it myself.' She told herself as she heard a knock on the door. Samus turned and walked over to the door. She opened it and Krystal was standing on the other side.
"Oh. Samus." She said partially surprised that Samus answered the door. Samus brushed one of her bangs out of her face and smiled. "Is Zelda ready?" Krystal asked.
"She's taking a shower." Samus explained to the blue fox. "Did you want to come in?" She offered but the blue fox, but she shook her head.
No, it's fine…so…how was the movie?" Krystal asked trying to stifle her excitement. She was happy to see that Samus finally spoke from the heart.
"There was no movie…but we did have our own…entertainment." Samus said with a smile on her face and her cheeks turning light pink. At first, Krystal wasn't sure what she meant by that.
"What are you-" She then looked in Samus' eyes and understood what she meant. A devious smile grew upon her face. "You didn't." Samus' smile grew a bit as well and her cheeks turned into a rose color before she began nodding her head.
"Yeah. It was her idea." She began laughing a little. This wasn't something that she wanted others to know, but because Krystal knew the truth about her feelings towards the princess, Samus felt that it was best to at least let her in on what happened last night. Krystal quietly squealed in delight and then lightly hit Samus' shoulder.
"I can't believe you. You didn't even wait one day?" Krystal asked with a smile on her face. Samus just shrugged her shoulders.
"She liked me. I liked her. Things just happened." She said nonchalantly. "You ready to try out? Oh wait, that reminds me, is there a specific time you want?" She asked Krystal.
"Well…I was thinking somewhere around two thirty or perhaps two forty-five. Why?" She answered and asked Samus.
"Since I'm helping Zelda sign-up, I can take a look at times. I'll let you know what's open. I'm going to try and find the easiest preliminary for her and…well…hope for the best for you." She said. "It's nothing personal, but she and I are…
"When do you plan on coming out about it?" Krystal asked. Samus closed her eyes and began rubbing her forehead. She hadn't really thought this far ahead. She did want to come out about this relationship, but not if it caused Zelda or her own performance to falter.
"I…actually…hadn't thought about it." Samus honestly answered. After she gave Krystal her answer, Zelda popped up behind her.
"Hi Krystal!" She said eagerly. "Guess what? Samus and I-"
"Yes. I heard. Congratulations." She smiled and lightly clapped her hands. But we should get going." As the three girls began walking away, Krystal stopped and snapped her fingers. "Oh that reminds me. Samus, Peppy told me that you are no longer banned from the training facility. He said that the board feels like you've learned your lesson, but he did tell me to warn you that if you attack Falco again, you will be banished from the tournament permanently." Krystal looked cautious as she told Samus this. She took a deep breath and exhaled before nodding.
"I see. Well, hopefully that asshole stays out of my way. Although…what if…No. That wouldn't…never mind." She brushed it off quickly and the three girls left the castle. They took Zelda's carriage to the hotel where sign-ups were being held. There was a long red carpet that competitors would walk down and into the hotel itself where they would sign up. A bodyguard stood at the end wearing all black and sunglasses. He was tall, buff, and kind of intimidating to look at, but Krystal had her ticket and was excited that she was taking part this year. Other competitors were here but they all got to sign up before the general public. In addition to the other competitors, there was the media; snapping photos, rolling cameras, holding interviews.
"You ready for this?" Samus asked the princess, who gulped hard and nodded.
"I-I'm scared." She nervously responded. Krystal slapped her hands together and began rubbing them.
"Well…it looks like this is our stop." Krystal said as the carriage finally rolled to a stop. The three girls could see the flashes of cameras through the curtain that protected them. They all looked at each other and took a unified breath before one of Zelda's guards opened the doors.
As soon as they exited, what seemed like hundreds of cameras were flashing and rolling. One could feel the excitement just by standing there. Electricity seemed to flow through the air; and each girl had a different feeling about this. Krystal was excited by seeing all the press and coverage; she could barely contain how giddy she was acting. Zelda was overwhelmed from everything. She felt like this was too much and that the press wouldn't stop asking her questions. She began hyperventilating until Samus grabbed her hand.
"Everything will be fine, trust me. Krystal and I are right here." Samus whispered to the princess. Somehow, hearing that Krystal and Samus were right there made everything a little better. She was still hoping that the press wouldn't notice her, but she was relieved that she wasn't alone. Samus seemed like a new person; holding her head up high and acting like this was no big deal. She wasn't sure how Samus could be so calm in an environment like this, but she really didn't care. All she knew was she was in the moment and although she was still scared, she loved the attention. The media then noticed the three girls walking down the red carpet. However, there was only one girl they seemed interested in talking to.
"Samus! Over here!" One camera flashed, then another, and another. In a matter of five seconds, it seemed like the whole world was taking photos of Samus, but Samus did not mind. A girl with reddish-brown hair stepped towards Samus. Grabbing her hand and gently pushed Krystal and Zelda aside, trying to get an interview with Samus. Zelda was hurt that this girl had separated her from Samus, but she knew that Samus was the center of attention since she won last year. Samus noticed that this reporter separated her hand from Zelda's.
"Turn and face the camera. And would it kill you to smile?" She asked in a preppy like tone. Samus just stared at the girl; already disliking her.
"It might." She responded in a tense tone. The girl glared at the bounty hunter.
"Just try and pretend you enjoy being here." The reporter replied through her teeth as she smiled at the camera. Samus, however, disliked this girl by the minute. Her camera guy had the camera rolling on them.
"Ok, three…two…one…" He pointed at the reporter, who seemed bright and cheerful now that she was on camera.
"I'm here with the reigning champion, Samus Aran. Who has graced us with her presence and wanted to speak exclusively with us." She boasted in a bragging tone. All of this was rubbing Samus the wrong way. Samus decided to just walk away at that very moment. She turned around and began walking away.
"So Samus…" The reporter began to ask as she noticed Samus walking away from her. The reporter quickly made her way back to the champion with the camera still recording her every move. Krystal and Zelda looked at Samus while Samus had a little smirk on her face.
"What are you doing?" The woman hissed at Samus who turned and looked at the reporter. It was clear that she wasn't too happy with the way Samus was acting.
"You were acting like a bitch, so I didn't want to talk to you." Samus responded quietly so the camera would not pick it up. "Change your attitude and maybe apologize, then I'll consider working with you." Samus began to negotiate but the reporter was getting angry. It was clear that she was getting pissed at Samus.
"Apologize? To you? It should be you who should apologize to me. You're lucky to be interviewed by me." She began boasting in a slightly-bragging tone. Samus narrowed her eyes slightly.
"And….who are you again?" Before the reporter could respond, Samus held up a hand. "Oh wait, I really don't care." And with that, Samus walked away with Krystal and Zelda next to her; leaving the reporter alone with her attitude.
"Cut the camera." She mumbled. "Cut the camera!" She screamed at the camera man, who lowered the camera and quickly shut it off. Meanwhile, the girls approached the entrance, when the bodyguard stopped them.
"Name?" He asked in a low pitch. Zelda was looking around like the three of them weren't supposed to be here. Krystal wasn't really sure what was going on, and Samus just folded her arms.
"Excuse me?" She asked now pissed that she had to deal with a preppy bitch for a reporter, and now she was being stopped from entering the hotel. He looked back at Samus and raised his eyebrows.
"Oh. Samus. Yeah, my bad. Here you go." He grabbed one end of the rope and opened it up for Samus. She walked in and before the other two could as well, he stopped them.
"Name?" He asked the two girls. Zelda stepped forward and gulped hard.
"Um…P-P-Princess Zelda." She responded nervously as he began looking into the list. He then smiled and nodded his head.
"Yeah ok. You're good." He opened the rope for her and then closed it behind. Krystal held up her ticket stub and he pointed to a line with no one in it. Krystal was a little depressed that she couldn't join her friends, but rules are rules and she walked over to the line as the two walked into the hotel. Inside there were hundreds of tables. There was someone at each table and many other competitors looking over times, joking with other competitors, and talking about potential rookies to watch out for. Zelda's excitement was building once again and the tournament hadn't even started yet. Immediately, Zelda began looking at times and opponents who she thought she could take. Samus was just looking for a way to get Zelda in the tournament easily. She was glancing over some of the matches when she felt someone's hand on her shoulder. She turned her head and noticed Link standing next to her.
"You ready for this year?" He asked with a big grin on his face. "There's a lot of talent around this year." He said. Samus didn't stop her job as she continued looking for a spot for Zelda. As she glanced over one, a smile crept across her face.
"Got it. Zelda!" She called out. Zelda turned and Samus motioned with her hand to come to her. Zelda quickly made her way to Samus. She saw Link and gave him a big hug.
"Link! Guess what? Samus and I are-" Zelda practically yelled until Samus covered her mouth with one hand and placed a finger over her own lips in an attempt to hush Zelda.
"Keep your voice down. The media will be in here any minute and not all of these people know how to keep a secret." She said. Link was already curious and Zelda wanted to tell him. Samus removed her hand from Zelda's mouth and she leaned in to whisper it to him.
"Samus and I are dating." Zelda whispered to her friend. Link's eyes shot wide open as he turned from Samus to Zelda. "But you can't tell anyone." She whispered again to him. After the initial shock hit him he seemed more relaxed and calm. He then smiled after seeing how happy Zelda was.
"I'm very happy for you Zelda. You really deserve to be happy." Link said with a smile on his voice. He then tried to quickly change the topic. "So, have you signed up yet?" He asked her and she shook her head.
"No, but Samus called me over an-"
"Sign here." Samus handed her a pen and without realizing what she was doing, Samus handed her the clipboard and she scribbled her name on the blank spot.
"W-What did I just sign?" Zelda asked, more confused than ever.
"Your first match is at noon. It'll be against Pichu. He shouldn't be too difficult and when you beat him..."
"But what if I-"
"When you beat the little guy…." Samus said sternly. Samus was absolutely sure that Zelda would win. In fact, Samus was convinced that Zelda couldn't lose. "…You'll either face the Ice Climbers or Jigglypuff. This should also be an easy match. Win those two and you're in." She explained to her. Zelda nodded and her smile grew big.
"I'm gonna make the tournament." She lightly sang to herself and Samus quickly turned her head and looked at the princess.
"Don't get cocky, when you do, you may lose your chance." Her attention then turned to Link. "Where'd you sign up?" She asked him.
"I signed up for the eight thirty time. In the evening, of course. I may be a hero, but heroes like to sleep in." He joked with them. " No one else signed up for that, so I guess I'll just wait and see. I should get back to training." He began to turn towards the exit, but Samus stopped him.
"Wait!" She called out. She then ran a few tables away and looked at a few times. "You remember Krystal? Well, I promised I'd tell her some times for her to sign up, could you tell her that there are open slots in the two thirty and two forty-five matches? Tell her that nobody has signed up for those spots yet. I'd owe you one." Link just nodded to indicate he understood what Samus was asking.
"Sure. I'll tell her, but the doors are opening in a few seconds. You're going to stay and mingle with the media and the rooks?" He asked her and Samus shook her head.
"No. We signed up. Now we're waiting for Krystal to sign up and then we're leaving." She said. Link nodded before turning around to leave. As soon as he left, Zelda felt a small tug on the bottom part of her dress. Zelda turned around to see a very young child with bright blue eyes, golden blonde hair, a beautiful crown upon her head, and she was wearing the most adorable pink dress and matching shoes holding part of her dress. Realizing that this wasn't her mother, this little girl's eyes began to water and she began to cry. Without thinking, Zelda immediately picked up the little child and comforted her.
"No no no no. Don't cry. We'll find your mommy. It's ok. Sshhh…it's ok." Her words seemed to comfort the little child. "What's your name? Zelda asked and the little girl wiped away her tears and stared at the princess. Samus folded her arms and rolled her eyes.
"Are you fucking kidding me?" She said as Zelda turned her body away from Samus.
"Don't say that!" She whispered to Samus while covering one of the child's ears with her hand and gently pressing her other against her chest. Samus wasn't sure what Zelda meant by that.
"Don't say what?" She asked the princess who, again, covered the girl's ears and mouthed the word 'fucking.' Samus sighed and began rubbing the bridge of her nose.
"We don't have time for this. You need to train and I…" She looked toward the entrance and saw that the other competitors were now filing in. Krystal quickly made her way in and took the first slot in the two thirty time. She then walked over and noticed the little girl. She gently waved her hand and the little girl buried her face into Zelda's sleeve.
"Who's this little one?" Krystal asked and quickly made her own assumptions. "You two haven't already…"
"No." Samus quickly cut her off. "I don't know who she belongs to but…" Samus glanced to the girl and made eye contact. Her frustration quickly dissipated and she now noticed how cute this little girl was. "…but..." Samus closed her eyes and sighed. She wanted to get in, sign up and get out. Now that they had a lost child, they would need to stay for much longer.
"Do you know where your mommy is?" Zelda asked in a soft tone; trying not to frighten the little girl. She looked at Zelda and simply blinked again. Zelda couldn't contain her smile. "She is so adorable." She looked back to Samus who stood there with her arms folded.
"We're not keeping her. We're going to find her mother and then get out of here." As Samus was explaining what the new plan was to Krystal and Zelda, she heard something that sounded like whining. The two girls looked at the young girl and she had her hands on her stomach and looked at Zelda like she was about to cry.
"Are you hungry?" She asked in a soft voice to the girl who simply stared at Zelda and whined again. Zelda turned her head to Samus.
"I think she's hungry. We need to get out of here and feed her." She stated to Samus. Samus looked around trying to find anyone who was searching for this child, but with all the new competitors flowing in and the media that followed everyone inside, it was difficult to find anyone. Groaning in frustration, Samus lowered her head and sighed.
"Fine. But if we get in trouble-"
"I'll take the blame." Zelda chimed in and began walking towards the exit. Samus stayed for a few moments longer before reluctantly leaving after Zelda. Before she did, she felt a hand on her shoulder.
"I agree with you, Samus." Krystal began. "But I can see her point as well. We can't just leave this child here. She would get trampled by others. We'll give her food and then bring her right back." Krystal explained to her friend. Samus sighed and they both began to leave.
As the three girls walked back outside, the media swarmed them and began snapping photos and recording with the cameras. Reporters began asking hundreds of questions and almost immediately after they all swarmed them, one reporter noticed the child.
"Is that your child? Are you adopting?" The reporter asked, then pointing the microphone to them. The two girls looked at each other and the child buried her face just above Zelda's breast. Zelda was feeling frightened and that emotion reflected on her face. Krystal and Samus noticed this and Samus placed a hand on Zelda's shoulder.
"Stay close and follow me. Don't say a word." She whispered to her. As Samus pulled away from her they locked eyes and Zelda nodded to non-verbally say she understood. She looked over at Krystal and motioned towards the door with her head. Krystal knew what Samus was trying to say and she nodded as well. Samus began walking towards the exit; cameras still rolling and photos were still being taken. Krystal tried shielding her eyes from all the flashing lights. It was starting to blind her and she shook her head a few times, but she was able to see Samus and Zelda and followed them. Not saying a word and trying to shield the child from all the paparazzi. The young girl was scared and whimpering out of fear but Zelda let go of Samus' hand to try and calm the infant down.
"It'll be ok. We're almost out of here. Zelda's going to take good care of you." She reassured the child who looked up for a few moments then tried to hide her face again. As the two girls got closer to the carriage they arrived in, Zelda quickly stepped closer to Krystal, handed the child to her and waved down her guards. The two guards immediately walked towards the three girls and shielded them from the press as they climbed into their carriage and shut the door. Even though they were inside the carriage, that didn't stop the paparazzi from taking photos. Samus sat across from Zelda, Krystal, and this young girl. Krystal set the girl down in between herself and the princess; who quickly wrapped her arms around Zelda's wrist. Zelda smiled and gently grabbed her tiny little hand. The girl looked up and began smiling; causing Zelda and Krystal to smile back. Samus, however, was not smiling or happy about this whole situation.
"Lighten up, will you?" Krystal suggested. "We're trying to help her, not hurt her." She explained, but Samus wasn't convinced and folded her arms.
"We could go to jail for this." She stated briskly as she pulled the curtain to glance at the paparazzi.
"I could go to jail for this. I told you, I'll take the blame if there's any trouble." Zelda reminded Samus. Samus was now concerned for the princess.
"No. I couldn't let you go down for this. I…" She hung her head and closed her eyes tightly.
'Fuck…' She thought to herself and she raised her head again. "Ok look. If anything happens…let me take the fall." She said in a defeated tone. Zelda smirked. She was happy to know that Samus was willing to protect Zelda by any means.
"Aw…you do care." She teased the bounty hunter. Who glanced up and smirked and tried to play it off like it was no big deal.
"It's…whatever. Shut up." Her cheeks were turning red and Zelda began giggling.
"You two are so adorable." Krystal chimed in. Both girls turned their heads to her and almost forgot she was with them.
"Fuck you." Samus said quietly.
"Samus!" Zelda hissed at her and motioned towards the child. It didn't take long for her smile to disappear. Samus rolled her eyes and thought about how to reword her previous statement. After a few minutes, she decided to simply present Krystal with the middle finder to Krystal. Who narrowed her eyes.
"Hey, I didn't curse." She said. The child was playing with Zelda's fingers and continued hi-fiving the princess while giggling. Zelda and Krystal just watched and laughed to each other. Samus just watched and a small smile appeared on her face. As the carriage finally rolled into Hyrule Castle, the three girls stepped out; Zelda was carrying the child again as they walked into the castle. They were greeted by the guards and a few maids. One maid approached them.
"May I ask who your guest is?" The maid asked the princess who looked down at the girl.
"I…actually don't know. We found her as we were signing up and…I…I don't know." Zelda said while looking at the adorable child. "Well…we'll be upstairs…if you need us." Zelda added as the three girls walked upstairs. As they reached Zelda's room, Krystal was certain to make her point that she wanted to train her.
"Zelda, I know you're worried about my performance, but I would feel better if you were to work with me. I still want to help you." It seemed to work as Zelda turned her attention to Krystal with a worrying look on her face.
"But what if you don't make the tournament?" She asked. "What if you're training me so much that I cause you to lose your preliminary?" Zelda looked down in sadness. Krystal placed a hand on her shoulder.
"If I make the tournament, then I will be happy. If I don't, I will still be happy. Watching you succeed is my main priority. If you succeed, then I can tell people I helped you get there. Don't worry about me." She reassured the princess. Zelda began to smile and as she did, so did Krystal. She then leaned in and whispered to Zelda.
"If you'd like, I can get a little training done with you right now." She whispered to Zelda.
"But, what about…her?" She held up the child, unsure what to do with her. "We can't just let her watch while I train. The guards might take her away or…" Zelda gasped. "She might die!" She exclaimed in horror.
"That seems a bit dramatic, don't you think?" Samus asked in a very flat tone. Zelda looked back at the child who simply blinked at her and placed her entire hand on Zelda's lips.
"I…I just want her to be safe." Zelda stated in a cautious tone. "I don't want anything bad to happen to my…to this…little angel." Zelda nuzzled her face against the child's; who giggled and laughed.
"Just give her to someone. It's not that hard to watch a kid." Samus said as she closed her eyes and took a deep breath before exhaling. Suddenly, Krystal had an idea. She grabbed the child, and gave her to Samus.
"Then you watch her. We'll be back later." Krystal began walking out and Zelda smiled at the two of them.
"There are movies all in that bookshelf. They're alphabetized so just choose one and put it in. Don't hesitate to ask the guards or the maids for help. I'll be back in just a few short-" Krystal grabbed one of Zelda's arms and began pulling her towards the door.
"Wait! Hold on! I didn't-" Samus began but she was now alone with the child. She looked down at the child who was in her arms. The child just looked at the bounty hunter with her bright blue eyes and blinked a few times.
"Ok…I guess…it's just you and me." Samus said quietly as the child began crying as she placed her hands on her stomach. Samus wasn't sure why she was crying now until she remembered why they brought her here in the first place.
"Oh shit! That's…" She stopped speaking and remembered that Zelda didn't want her swearing. Samus took a deep breath. "Oh darn." She said in very flat tone. She then picked up the child and walked downstairs to the dining room. As she arrived, the chef came out to speak with her.
"Miss Aran. It is an honor. How may I be-"
"Yeah that's great. Listen, can you make something that she might eat?" Samus asked as she held up the child. The girl sniffled and wiped away a few tears. The chef looked at her for a few moments before snapping his fingers.
"I have just the thing. I'll grind up some fruit and make her a delicious and nutritious yogurt. Shall I get you anything as well?" He offered, but Samus shook her head.
"I'm good. Thanks." She said and with that, he turned to the kitchen. Samus sat down with the girl sitting on her leg. She whimpered due to the fact that she was hungry, but Samus wiped a few tears off her face. The child looked up at her and sniffled a few more times.
"Just a few more minutes. We'll get you something good." She said and weakly smile to the girl. A few minutes passed and what sat in front of them was a purple colored yogurt. With the child sitting on her leg, Samus wasn't exactly sure how to feed a child.
'Come on. This should be a cakewalk compared to everything else you've done.' Samus thought to herself, but her thoughts were quickly interrupted.
"Need a hand?" A woman's voice said from behind her. Samus turned around and saw the maid who helped them before sat down next to Samus. She grabbed the child, set her on her own lap, and began feeding her. The baby happily ate the yogurt and while she was eating, the maid decided to speak with the bounty hunter.
"Let me cut to the chase. We all know that you and the princess are together." The maid said very calmly without taking her eyes off of the child. Samus looked at the woman and tried to play dumb.
"I have no idea what you're-"
"Don't lie. It's beneath you." The maid cut her off as she wiped the toddler's mouth with a napkin before continuing to feed her. "We are not going to blackmail you, or hold this over your head. We support her decision and we vow not to say a word. However, you must promise us one thing." Samus gulped hard; unsure of what their demand was.
"A-And…w-what…what would that be?" Samus stammered. She couldn't remember the last time she was this nervous. The woman then turned her head ever so slightly and made eye contact with Samus.
"You must promise to protect her." She said to Samus. "Zelda is like a flower. She's beautiful and delicate. She enjoys going down to the marketplace from time to time. She enjoys everything from making floral necklaces to braiding hair. She is truly a kind-hearted princess. But we want to be sure that you will not break our fair princess' heart." The maid explained. Samus understood their concern.
"I'm…not planning on hurting her. I…care for her deeply. It hasn't even been twenty four hours since we…" Samus cleared her throat; this wasn't something she was really comfortable discussing to a complete stranger. "I…uh…I'll keep her safe." Samus reassured the maid who smiled at the bounty hunter.
"That's all we ask of you." She cleaned the mouth of the toddler one last time before cleaning her hands and giving her back so Samus and standing up. "For what it's worth, I think you two are perfect for each other." She bowed her head and then left; leaving Samus alone with this girl. Samus wasn't sure exactly what happened but didn't have time to dwell as the child began pulling on one of her bangs. Samus gently removed her tiny fingers from her hair and looking straight at her.
"No." She said in a semi-stern tone. It was strong enough to make her point, but not strong enough to scare her. The little girl then wrapped both arms around Samus' neck and placed her head on her shoulder. Samus closed her eyes and smiled as they began walking back to the room. Once they got back, Samus set the child next to her as she lied down on the bed and began flipping through the channels to see what children's programs were on; as she flipped on the TV, MK Studios was on. Toad and Toadette were sitting behind a news desk and Samus just missed the beginning.
"We've got interviews with upcoming competitors trying to make their own history as well as some veterans who talk about how they stay in tip-top shape. But first…" Toadette announced. "Rumors have been spreading after the events earlier this morning. Samus Aran and Princess Zelda were seen together holding a young infant." Samus glanced over at the child, who looked like she was trying to eat one of Samus' fingers. Samus turned off the television and the young girl looked up at her.
"You're causing a lot of trouble for Zelda and myself." She said casually to her; but the young child just giggled before rolling over and crawling on top of Samus. Samus began smiling and her heart began to melt. She couldn't stay mad at this adorable young girl. She then decided that they should watch a movie or two while Zelda trained. She scooted her way to the edge of the bed and stood up.
"Let's pick out a movie, ok?" She said to the girl. The girl turned her head around; trying to look at all of the movies that Zelda had. Samus couldn't believe how many movies she had; all of which were children's movies.
"Wow…" Samus said in awe as her eyes grew big. She was amazed by how many movies she had in her collection. As Samus stepped closer to the selection of movies, the child managed to reach out for one and began pulling it. It moved barely an inch but she pulled with all the strength she had in one hand. Samus noticed her tugging at one movie and pulled it out with her free hand. The movie was a mixture of blue and white; the front of it said: Frozen. She glanced at the child, whose smile turning to giggling. She smiled and looked back to try and find a few more movies; in case Zelda wouldn't be back and they had a little more time to watch.
"Let's see…" She was skimming through the entire collection and picked out a few more movies before she walked back to the bed, set the child down and laid out all the movies in front of her.
"Which one do you want to see first?" She asked the child. She really didn't care what order they watched them but she thought that if she were going to watch over this child, she should at least pick what they watch. The child leaned back and was now laying on her back, sucking on her fingers; Samus dropped her head and chuckled.
"You're pretty weird, you know that?" She asked the child, who was off in her own world. Samus picked up 'Frozen' and popped it in. She walked back to the bed, placed a pillow against the bed frame to use it so she could sit comfortably against the bed, and moved the child next to her. She snuggled up next to the bounty hunter, which a smile grew upon her face. Although she knew that they need to find her mother, moments like this made her heart melt. Later that day, as the sun was setting, Zelda and Krystal began walking back to the room.
"I hope Samus isn't too upset. Practice ran a little long today." Krystal said worried.
"I don't think she'll mind. If she does, I'll take care of it." Zelda said as they approached her room. Zelda opened it and walked it first. "Samus I'm sor-" She stopped and quickly turned around.
"What's going on?" Krystal asked, but Zelda shushed her.
"They're asleep." Zelda whispered to Krystal and the two girls slowly walked into the room. Zelda walked over to Samus who was on her back, fast asleep with a young girl sleeping on top of her. Zelda smiled taking note of how cute this was. She glanced back at Krystal who was smiling as well.
"Hey…Samus." Zelda brushed her fingers against Samus' cheek. Samus slowly opened her eyes and reached her arms out as far as they could.
"Where the hell have you been?" She asked in a very sleepy tone. She rubbed her eyes, blinked a few times, and then looked at the child.
"You two had fun?" Zelda asked. Samus nodded her head and gently rubbed the child's back. She gave a great big yawn and stretched her arms as well. She looked up and reached for Zelda, who laughed and picked her up.
"Did you have fun with Samus?" She asked in a childish voice. The young girl wrapped her arms tightly around Zelda's neck which caused her smile to grow even wider. "I was told that it's time for her bath before she goes to bed, but now…I'm not so sure she'll fall asleep right away." Zelda stated to Samus.
"So what's the plan? Hey, did you find out who her parents are?" Samus asked, but Zelda shook her head.
"No. But…I guess we'll deal with that later." As Zelda finished her sentence, the maid walked in with a towel, some soap, and a rubber duck.
"I would suggest you change into a t-shirt…just in case." She suggested. Zelda nodded and set the child down next to Samus before walking into her closet. It took only a few moments, but Zelda came out wearing a plain white shirt and light grey sweatpants. She then walked over to the child and picked her up.
"Let's get you nice and clean." She said with excitement in her voice. The child began clapping her hands and giggling as they walked into the bathroom; leaving Samus alone with Krystal.
"Well…I should be going myself. I told Fox I would return to Corneria for some…alone time." She began blushing in embarrassment after revealing her plans for the evening. Samus brushed it off.
"You two deserve it. But this thing between Zelda and me-"
"I know. I won't say anything. When you two are ready, you can tell the world." Krystal reassured her friend. "Goodnight." She waved to Samus and began to walk out the door.
"Night. See you tomorrow." Samus said as Krystal left; leaving Samus all alone in the bedroom. She took a deep breath, and then exhaled with a content sigh.
"Life is great." She said to herself as she closed her eyes and relaxed a bit before the door knocked. Samus opened her eyes and walked over to the door.
"Alright. What'd you forget Kry-" She paused after realizing it wasn't Krystal. It was one of Zelda's guards and he was holding a phone in his hand. "Yes?" She asked him.
My apologizes, but the princess has a phone call." The guard informed the bounty hunter.
"Who's calling?" Samus asked.
"It is a private call for Princess Zelda. I must ask her to come to the door." He stated sternly to her. Although the phone call was for Zelda, Samus really didn't want to ask Zelda to stop giving this child a bath to take a phone call.
"Zelda is preoccupied at the moment. I'll give her the phone. I promise." She said to him. It didn't seem to work on him. "Oh come on, we're both adults here. I wouldn't dare lie to someone of your stature. Trust me." She said and held out her hand. He reluctantly handed her the phone.
"It's for Princess Zelda only." He reminded her and she nodded her head.
"Of course." Samus said and gently shut the door. As she did she took a few steps away from the door. "It's for Princess Zelda only." Samus quietly mocked the guard. "Fuck you, asshole." She muttered under her breath as she sat on the edge of the bed and took the call herself. "Hello?"
"I'm sorry…I thought I dialed Zelda's number." The sweet voice chimed.
"No, this is Zelda's number. She's…busy at the moment. May I ask who is calling?" Samus asked politely.
"This is Princess Peach of the Mushroom Kingdom. May I ask who I am speaking to?" Peach inquired.
"It's Samus. What can I help you with?" She asked the princess. Hoping that maybe she could help with whatever Peach needed.
"I have been calling everyone hoping that someone has seen my little girl." She said. Samus then noticed the crown that was sitting on the nightstand.
"Your…daughter?" She asked thinking that she had found this child's mother.
"Yes. She has blonde hair, bright blue eyes, she was wearing a pink dress with matching shoes, and a crown." It was a perfect description. Samus closed her eyes.
"We have your child. But Peach, let me explain. We weren't planning on keeping her. She walked up to us, and she was hungry. We brought her back to feed her and…" Samus felt that the explanation was rather pointless. "…I'm sorry."
"No, it's my fault. I set her down when I went to sign up and she wandered off. I looked around but the media and other competitors were already inside. I stayed to try and find her…" Peach sighed. "I'm so relieved that she is ok. I'll send my guards to pick her up at once." She said to Samus as she heard the young girl squeal and splash around. She walked over and watched Zelda rinsing her hair and then washing her arms.
"Actually…I'm sure Zelda would prefer if she could spend the night. I know it's a lot to ask for, but she seems to have gotten attached to your daughter." Samus told the princess.
"Oh no. I couldn't ask that from you. You have taken care of her all day and I don't want to be a bother."
You wouldn't. We'd be happy to. We'll bring her back to you first thing tomorrow. How about…eleven in the morning? Zelda has a match at noon. We could meet you at eleven, give you your daughter, then she'll go off in her match." Samus suggested. There was a brief pause.
"Are you sure you wouldn't mind?" Peach asked but Samus smiled.
"It'll be alright. I'll let Zelda know. Have a good night." Samus said in a very kind tone.
"You too. And thank you again." Peach said before both girls hung up the phone. Samus sighed and placed the phone next to the child's crown before entering the bathroom, where the young girl splashed Zelda and the maid. Zelda was laughing along with the maid as they were just about done. Zelda turned and saw Samus walk in. She stood up and smiled at Samus. Samus stood there and started smirking.
"Nice shirt." She mentioned to the princess. She glanced down and saw her shirt was entirely soaked; she also noticed that her chest was exposed. Zelda gasped and quickly grabbed a towel to cover her chest. Samus wrapped her arms around Zelda and gently placed her forehead against the princesses'.
"Relax…I've seen those before…and I like them." She teased to Zelda, which caused her to smile and her cheeks lightly blushed. "Anyway…" She said changing the subject. "Peach called just now."
"What did she want?" Zelda asked Samus as she hung up her towel, and faced the bounty hunter once again. Samus was looking at the toddler. Zelda turned around and quickly understood.
"Oh… I see." She said with in a very gloomy tone.
"I told her we'd return her tomorrow morning. But…she needs to go tomorrow." Samus said quietly. Zelda walked insider her closet, changed her wet t-shirt to a light blue t-shirt to the bed and sat on the edge before hanging her head.
"What do we do now?" She asked with sadness in her voice. Samus looked at nightstand and noticed one of Zelda's movies. A smile appeared on the bounty hunters' face. She scooted closer to the princess.
"Do you wanna build a snowman?" She gently chimed to the hyrulean princess. She didn't move her head from looking at the ground but she was smiling. Samus leaned in very close to her ear. "It doesn't have to be a snowman." She whispered as she moved one of her hands and placed it on the inside of the princess' thighs and slowly moved it in. Zelda pushed Samus' hand away and began laughing.
"Stop it. I'm serious." She said as she was laughing throughout her sentence. Samus chuckled and gently grabbed Zelda's hand.
Ok, here's the plan, we take her to Peach tomorrow at eleven, go to your match where you will kick Pichu's ass, and then, we go home. I'll try to find something for us to do. You know, couple stuff." Zelda was now intrigued by Samus' offer.
"What did you have in mind?" She asked, but Samus just smiled.
"Don't worry about it. I'll find something." She kissed Zelda's cheek. "Now, if you don't mind…" Samus moved back onto the bed and tucked herself in. Zelda smirked and shook her head.
"You just slept all afternoon and you're ready for bed again?" Zelda asked. Samus pulled the blanket over her head.
"What can I say? I love sleep." Samus said from underneath the blanket.
"Almost as much as you love me?" Zelda asked in the sweetest voice she could. Samus pulled the covers away from her face, still smiling.
"Maybe more." She jokingly responded. Zelda grabbed a pillow and threw it at her. The two girls began laughing with each other. Zelda walked back into the bathroom and came back a few minutes later with the young girl in wearing footie pajamas. It was all white with a mixture of blue, light red and yellow flowers all over. Zelda was planning to walk around the corridor with the child alone, but Samus quickly hopped out of bed and decided to keep her company. A few hours passed and as Zelda held the child the two girls quietly talked about what would happen tomorrow.
"You scared for tomorrow? You really should get some rest." Samus suggested to Zelda, but she shook her head.
"No. I'm fine." She assured the bounty hunter.
"Yeah, the last time you said that, you passed out at your bedroom door and Krystal and I had to carry you to your bed." Samus said nonchalantly. Zelda looked at Samus.
"That really happened? I thought that was just a…really nice dream." Zelda said, but Samus shook her head.
"I was going to say I loved you back then, but you passed out. Look, you should really get some sleep." Samus said trying to look out for Zelda's best interest. But Zelda stood her ground.
"I can do this. Why don't you get some sleep since you love it more than me." She stuck her tongue out at Samus, who simply rolled her eyes.
"I'd prefer if a certain…Hyrulean princess would be there with me. You know, brown hair, blue eyes, cute…you'd know her if you saw her." Zelda gently hit Samus in the chest with one hand as she tried to stifle her laughter. She looked down at the child who was finally asleep. It was at this moment that a guard rushed over to her.
"Princess Zel-" The guard said rather loudly, but Zelda shushed him and placed a finger to her lips. "My apologizes." The guard said much quieter. "If you would choose, we could have someone watch over the child during the night and in the morning, when you are ready to leave, we will have this young lady ready for you. I understand tomorrow is a big day for you and a princess must get a good night's rest." He informed her and she looked down at the sleeping baby. She looked at Samus who nodded her head. She kissed the child's forehead and nodded to the guard. He motioned with one of his arms for someone to come by and retrieve the sleeping child. A maid gently took the child from Zelda's arms and bowed to the princess before she took her leave. The guard did the same as he left shortly after; leaving Zelda and Samus alone.
"I am getting a bit tired." Zelda stretched and gave a big yawn, and covered her mouth as she yawned. She looked back at Samus, who motioned with her head to go upstairs.
"One of us has a big day tomorrow. You really need to sleep." Samus suggested to the princess, who grabbed Samus' hand.
"Only if you join me." She winked at the bounty hunter; who sighed in response.
"If I must." She said in a very sarcastic tone. Zelda turned around and glared at Samus, but there was a smile spread across her face so it was clear that she wasn't upset. She walked upstairs, still holding Samus' hand and walked back to her room. By this point, Zelda's energy was drained. She slowly crawled into bed and pulled the blanket over herself. Before she fell asleep, Samus tugged on her arm and Zelda rolled over in response. Holding Samus close to her and sighed.
"Goodnight Samus." She said quietly.
"Goodnight Zelda." Samus replied as the two girls fell asleep. Ready for the big day they had tomorrow.
