Wow, it feels really weird to be talking to you guys again.
Before you start attacking me with pitchforks and torches, I just want to apologize. It's been over a year with hardly any updates from me. For any older readers, I highly doubt any of you are still interested in the story, and if you are I'm amazed. For newer readers, I'm sorry for such a long wait. This sounds like I'm about to tell you, "I'm not going to work on this story anymore." because believe me it's the exact opposite.
This might require some explanation if you're interested.
First off, after I posted the last update, I began to work immediately on the next chapter. Somewhere towards the end of chapter 10, writer's block came again, so I left it alone for a while. A few weeks later, when my inspiration returned, I turned my computer on - only to find out that my computer was completely fried with no hope of fixing it. With what I had finished beforehand, I had revised multiple times. The part I had before my computer's death, fortunately, was saved on a flashdrive. Even then, though, it was months before I was able to get a new computer. When I opened the document on my new laptop I was disappointed again.
The chapter had indeed been saved on there, but it was messed up. The program I had typed it on was different from what I had on my new computer. Because of that, it was full of missing chunks. A sentence would suddenly be cut off, and the rest of it was somewhere else randomly. I had to rewrite it - again. But since it was probably my millionth time writing it over the months, I found it harder to write since I'd seen the sentences and conversations over and over again.
I still have it, and it is almost complete. I still get messages saying that someone started following my story, or a review from a reader encouraging me to finish it, and I feel guilty everytime because I feel like I'm disappointing you guys. The last thing I want to do is leave this story in the gutter with my other uncompleted works, especially when I've already decided how the plot is going to play out.
So please, bear with me. It's probably a pathetic thing to ask, considering it has literally been over a year. I want to finish this, so I can be proud to say I've finished something and get rid of the guilt for leaving you guys hanging.
That being said, I hope I've cleared the air. I swear, though, if it does take me another year to post, feel free to start a manhunt for me!
