A/N: I know it has been quite awhile since the last update. While writing is one of my favorite ways to relax and ignore the 'real world'... work, school, and family does come first. No matter how challenging they can be at times. Being promoted to assistant manager has taken up more of my time than I thought it would.
Thursday night came and went with no further complaints, glares, or sulking from Tony. He had convinced himself Timmy would be better by morning, and they could spend the day together. Gibbs had to talk him out of giving Timmy the cards on Friday. Saturday was his half birthday, so he could wait one more day. Tony wasn't too sure, but for the moment decided to go along with Gibbs' idea.
Sleep came easily for the little boy as Gibbs tucked him in. Fornell watched from his spot on the floor. Nurse Jenna had come in, seen the glitter everywhere, raised one eyebrow, and told Fornell, "You brought it, you clean it up", then walked back out. He was seriously re-thinking his idea, but the joy on Tony's face was enough to erase all doubts.
The night passed quietly for everyone. Fornell left for home, since he had to go back to his office in the morning, and Gibbs once again camped out in Tony's room.
Morning came and went, and by noon Dr. Michaels said Tony could visit Timmy again.
"Take 'em his cards?" Tony asked as he jumped up and down.
"I thought we were going to wait until tomorrow? Make it special for his half birthday?"
"Oh, yeah... okay."
As the two of them walked down to Timmy's room, Gibbs said, "Hey Buddy, I'm going to let you play with Timmy while I head into work for a little bit, alright?"
"Ou find Ben?" Tony asked looking up at Gibbs.
"That's what I'm going to in to do."
"Okay." By then they had reached Timmy's room and Tony had launched himself across the room and was half way up the bed. Chuckling Gibbs gave him a hand up as he said hello to Timmy, who was only half awake. The little boy gave him a sleepy smile then turned his attention to Tony. Leaving the two boys to bond and Tony to chatter away, Gibbs left for NCIS.
Walking into the bull pen Gibbs saw Stan bent over his desk riffling through piles of paperwork. "Got anything new?" He asked as he sat down at his own desk.
Stan sat up and stretched as he replied, "Cyber Crimes went over all the paperwork Dillard had on Long. Everything is fake. Isaiah Long doesn't exist."
"Great. So where does that leave us?"
"Forensics, boys. You know, finger prints, DNA, facial recognition." Mike said as he walked into the room.
"You got a hit?" Gibbs asked raising his eyebrows in anticipation.
"Yep." Mike clicked the screen on and an arrest record and photo popped up. "Meet Benjamin Isaiah Goldlin. Former Marine that was dishonorably discharged. Seems he had a violent streak that wouldn't quite. Nearly killed a few fellow marines in a drunken fight. Wasn't the first time, but it was the last. I have a BOLO out on Goldlin now. So far nothing has come up. He's probably got so many aliases, it will take forever to track him down."
Gibbs stood there looking at the picture of Goldlin. He looked every bit a hardened criminal. He couldn't imagine the two sweet boys he had been watching over the last few days, having to live with this man. "So how does the Corporal fit into this?"
"Corporal Nigel was in the same unit as Goldlin when he was discharged. Why he was there at the house, how often, and why Goldlin killed him, I don't have a clue. That will be something, I hope, the boys will tell us."
"Stan, print me a picture alright? I'll take it back to the hospital with me, see if Tony can positively ID this guy as 'Ben'."
"Can do."
"If it is him, try and find out more about him." Mike trailed off as Gibbs glared at him. "Don't give me that look probie. I understand what they went through, but we need to know, what they know. Any little tid-bit could help. You know that."
"Yea, yea I know. I'll call when I got anything for you." With that Gibbs grabbed the photo from Stan and headed back to the hospital.
A/N: So do ya'll think this is 'the' Ben?! And a big thank you to all who are still reading!
