"Today's the last day," Jack reminded himself.

Knowing that the day would have to come eventually, Jack flew, releasing a heavy sigh; only to wish that he had more time, more time to spend with his sister and her children. But since he had important things to do, visiting was cut short until next winter. Deep down, Jack thought leaving seemed a bit unfair, not only because winter wasn't over yet, but since Sarah and Peter just saw him. Imagine, finally meeting the mysterious Jack Frost, only to find out that he needs to go; quite unfair really.

So, having all this in mind as he flew to the house, Jack thought about staying longer, since obviously Burgess is his home, but then if that were to happen, along the line winter would be meddling into spring's time, which of course Jack never really cared about, hence annoying the Easter Bunny for fun, but since Jack felt like giving him some slack this year, he's planning to leave when the time comes.

As the decision for whether to depart was decided, it didn't really put a damper on things. Even though today was the last day visiting, Jack was confident that Sarah and Peter won't forget him…or at least he hoped. He planned to spend as much time with them today as possible. Though of course Emma wasn't too far behind either, even though Jack decided on the fact to disappear in her life; in order for her to let go of the past, Jack was going to do it step-by-step.

He had a plan to keep visiting every winter, though after each passing season, his visits will slowly decrease to the point of not seeing her anymore. In the end, only for Jack to silently watch from a far, to see Emma grow; being a guardian to her as Jack once told her he was…and…still is.

"No matter what happens….

I'll always be there for you Emma…to protect you and your children…

I promise..."

As the wind continued to blow through his hair, Jack finally arrived at the house. At this point, a warm smile formed across his face, Jack couldn't wait to have another day of fun with his niece and nephew before his departure. So with no time to waste, Jack swooped down, and landed safely on the ground.

Once when he did, Jack held his staff over his shoulder while walking around the front of the house; he wanted to get one last look at the place. And…as he took notice of his surroundings more clearly, Jack couldn't help but smile when his eyes came across the snow-man the children made a few days ago.

"To bad I couldn't help make it with them at the time…" Jack said; clearly remembering that Peter and Sarah couldn't see him that day.

"But…now I wonder…" Jack continued; his eyes turning towards a big tree.

"I remember the kids went to the forest that day, to get branches for the snow-man.

But, there's a tree here, how come they couldn't just get a few branches from here, instead of going to the forest?" Jack wondered; walking to the tree, pretty much examining it more closely.

As he did, Jack saw that the tree branches were covered with his snow.

"Hmm…it was probably because these branches are too big."

Jack then turned his head, looking back at the snow-man, though after another second, he simply took a breath and sat comfortably underneath the tree, unwinding and relaxing.

"I came a little earlier today, so…I know everyone is still sleeping. I guess I'll wait here for a little while until they wake up, no problem." Jack said smiling; his attention now to the house.

But after a while, Jack then turned his attention back to the snow that was surrounding him. With no-one out and about, things seemed surprisingly quiet, though not that Jack was complaining, after all, he was pretty much use to the silence that would normally surround him every day, but as the silence steadily continued, a faint noise started to emerged; making Jack a little uneasy. He wondered, what was that noise? And where was it coming from? The more Jack thought, the more the noise was growing. Within every second, the noise was getting louder and louder, almost sounding like…like something was breaking. But…what…what was it?

As Jack tried to identify what the noise was, or better yet, where it was coming from, the noise eventually got worse. Something was breaking…breaking…breaking…until finally…

SNAP!

And in that moment, Jack knew what the noise was. His eyes widen with fear and shock, sharply turning his head; but by the time he saw it…it was too late.

Due to the heavy weight of all the snow, a tree branch snapped off and fell down, hitting Jack on the head; no-doubt, knocking him unconscious.

But, as time passed, thankfully Jack finally woke up; slowly regaining consciousness. As he did, Jack's vision slowly came into view, as well as himself trying to shake away the drowsiness.

"My head…" Jack uttered; having his hand over his head.

"Wha-

What hit me?"

As Jack's eyes were focused to the ground, he then saw the broken tree branch.

"A branch huh?

Well that explains it…" he said; rubbing the back of his head.

After he did, Jack then examined his hand, seeing that there was nothing. Normally, if this kind of situation would have happened to a regular person, serious injuries would have been displayed, but in this case for Jack, since he's immortal, the hit to the head wasn't so serious; showing no signs of blood, or bleeding. Luckily Jack was okay when he managed to get back on his feet. Though, as he slowly circled around, examining his surroundings, something unusual was off. It could be seen as he was looking, that Jack's eyes portrayed confusion. Due to this, it can only mean one thing, because Jack was hit on the head, he had lost his memory; or maybe perhaps…the important ones.

"Where am I?" he wondered.

But Jack quickly shook his head; mentally telling himself that it was a dumb question. After all, to his knowledge, Jack knew, and more importantly, reminded himself that he was home…that he was in Burgess.

"That's right, I'm home, but…I wonder…what was I doing before I got hit by the branch?"

Jack continued wondering, while retrieving his staff from the ground; though as he tried to remember, nothing came to mind. Within time, Jack then gave a sigh and started to walk away from the house.

"Weird, I have this feeling like I was supposed to meet someone….

But…"

Though Jack immediately shook it off and chuckled weakly.

"No that can't be right…as far as I remember…I never had anybody that could see me, so having that feeling would be impossible."

The wind then started to blow, moving Jack's hair, as well as showing he was hovering a few inches from the ground.

"Well, I guess I'll continue spreading snow around this place."

And with that last statement, Jack flew off into the sky, going with his daily routine that he would follow. Though as he proceeded, Jack still couldn't shake the strange feeling off from before.

"What could it mean?

Have I forgotten something that was very important?"

"Today's the last day," Emma reminded herself.

Knowing that today was Jack's last visit, Emma gave a heavy sigh while staring aimlessly up at the ceiling. As silence steadily continued, Emma was still lying on her bed; thinking about Jack's previous visits. And, even though a side of her felt guilt and pain for seeing Jackson as Jack Frost, another side of her is grateful and happy to see him overall; making her wish that Jack didn't have to go. Emma wished that she could have more time with her brother; (maybe play a game of hopscotch.) But most importantly, Emma wished there was more time for her children to play with Jack.

The mere thought of him leaving the next day seemed quite unfair to Emma. It's like, one minute you meet some-one, possibly becoming friends, and the next thing you know, the person is gone the next day; almost like the person you met never truly existed. And since Emma knew Sarah and Peter were kids at the moment, Emma feared that they might lose their belief on her brother quickly. She feared that during Jack's absence or maybe within time, Sarah and Peter would think that they just created an imaginary friend to play with.

Having this in mind, Emma then finally got up from her bed, getting ready to start the day. As she got dressed, Emma silently hoped that after today, her children will still believe in her brother. Though, of course they wouldn't forget him instantly, it's mainly the idea of keeping the belief in some-one when they're not around that worried Emma. Even though it wasn't much, Emma had her own solution to the problem.

She had a plan to keep telling her kids about Jack Frost. To tell them about how he's the fun, yet mischievous trickster of winter. To tell them about how loving and caring he can be, despite his appearance being nothing but cold. Then again, that's why you shouldn't judge a person before you get know them.

All the things of her brother will be created into a tale…a story. A story that she would tell her children, and ask for them to tell it to their children and so on and so forth. Even if the possibility of the children believing in Jack might be out of Emma's hands when hearing the tale, she'll still feel happy that people will at least know his name, since at this point, no-one has.

"No matter what happens…

I'll always believe in you Jack...and hopefully my children will too…

I promise…"

Once Emma was ready, she started to make her way to her children's bedrooms; waking them up as a mother always would. After that was done, Emma then proceeded downstairs, walking her way to the kitchen to make breakfast. Though as she was walking, Emma couldn't help but draw her attention to the window in the living room. As Emma moved the curtain to see out, freshly fallen snowflakes were seen everywhere.

"How beautiful," Emma whispered to herself.

"I wonder if Jack is nearby."

Though as Emma scanned the area, no sign of Jack could be seen anywhere.

"That's strange; he said he would be here early today.

I wonder if…"

But as she saw the broken tree branch that was on the ground, Emma cut herself off.

"A tree branch? Oh don't tell me, Jack was probably playing around again."

As far as Emma knew about her brother, not only did he love snow, but he'd also loved to climb trees as well. Emma remembered every time Jack would climb, he always had a habit of dangling from one of the branches, swinging and pretty much enjoying himself. Seeing him being like a bat or a monkey was amusing, but when it came to calling it a day, it was truly impossible to get Jack down from the tree's branches.

To Emma, at the time in order to get Jack down, it was either A: call mom, or B: wait for the tree branch to break; no doubt hurting himself in the process. Emma remembered it happened a couple of times, but Jack always turned out ok since he was never hurt badly. So due to this small trip to memory lane, Emma thought Jack was probably doing something, which ended in the branch to break; and knowing how he's immortal now, him being hurt wouldn't be a huge problem.

Emma then gave a sigh, "He'll never learn will he…" her eyes lowering.

But after a while, Emma's gaze quickly went back to the window. As she looked out, she instantly saw a figure flying in the sky. Without much thought, Emma knew that it was Jack. Within seeing her brother, Emma then gave a sigh of relief, knowing that he was okay, and nothing bad had happened to him, but then as she saw him more clearly, she saw that he was flying away from the house. At first, Emma was worried, but then after spending time with Jack, remembering how he said he had a duty to spread winter around other places, Emma figured that it must have been the explanation for his sudden change in plans.

"Something important must have come up, so he couldn't bear to say good-bye…." Emma said sadly.

Deep down, Emma would've wanted Jack to stay or even for him to visit every single day, but she knew it wouldn't be fair for Jack. She would want him to be happy; to go out and be who he is. So having this in mind, instead of being sad, Emma gave a warm smile, no matter if he visits or not…Emma would never forget her brother; after all, how could she when-ever it snows.

"Good-bye Jack, hopefully you'll come back and visit. "

And after seeing Jack fly away, Emma then turned and was about to go to the kitchen. She figured, after making breakfast for the kids, she was going to go outside and get rid of the branch, but then Emma instantly stopped when she heard foot-steps coming down the stairs; breaking her away from her thoughts.

"I wonder how I'm going to break the news to the children…." Emma said in her mind; remembering about her brother leaving.

She then turned her attention to the source of the foot-steps, and saw that Sarah came running down the stairs smiling.

"Look mommy, I did this yesterday.

I wanted to show it to you, but it was late," Sarah said; having a paper in her hand.

"Oh, another drawing huh, let's see what it is," Emma said smiling; taking the drawing.

And, as her eyes met the paper, Emma was silent; it wasn't much, but Emma was truly touched to what her daughter did. Being the little artist that she is, Sarah drew herself and her brother having a snow-ball fight. And…along with them…there was another that was joining in on the fun. The person hovered from the ground, having a wooden stick in one hand, and a snow-ball in another; and with blue colored for the jacket, and white for the person's hair, Emma knew that this person in the drawing was supposed to be Jack Frost.

"Awww honey, this is a nice drawing, but…who's this person?" Emma said pointing to the third person; pretending not to know him.

Sarah then made a smile, "Why, its Jack Frost.

You were right mom, he is real.

I just had to believe."

Emma then looked back at the drawing, while having a warm smile on her face.

"Yes,

Believing…really is seeing…"

Many Years Later

Even though he kept coming back to this place every year, Jack couldn't help but feel that it has been an eternity since his last visit. Like, if it had been so long since he had a piece of relaxation, and most importantly…fun. Jack was simply sitting on an edge of a building, basically watching his home…Burgess, continuously changing ever so slowly in his eyes. After taking another look down at the streets, Jack then gave a heavy sigh, having his head resting over his hand.

"Why…why do I keep coming here if it just brings me more pain," Jack uttered out loud; looking aimlessly at the sky.

Even though Jack knew the answer to his own question, he still had doubts, like if everything he was doing was starting to become meaningless. He would come to Burgess to spread his snow, and try to gain believers (no doubt failing since people are aware of his name, but think he's just an expression), but the real reason why he would return, was because of the strange feeling that he couldn't shake away when-ever he visited. And long ago when that happened, as time progressed, Jack frequently visited since he wanted to know the meaning behind the feeling. So, instead of being happy and having fun, Jack would be thinking and working; trying to find the answer; only to hit a dead-end.

It was strange, no matter where Jack went, or did, the wind would always take him back home. Having this in mind just made Jack more determined to find the answer. So now, despite giving a sense that the whole world is his home, Burgess had became Jack's permanent place to rest when-ever he would be done doing his daily routine in other parts of the world. And, due to this decision, Burgess would sometimes have snow days in spring; not that the children minded anyway as Jack would say to the Easter Bunny.

But now, as stated before, Jack felt like staying was beginning to become pointless. Though the feeling that he had still had control over him one way or another. As Jack finally got down to it, the feeling itself was quite strange. In reality, he knew that it couldn't be true since how his life has been so far, but deep down, pealing all those thoughts away, and taking the small glimmer of hope, Jack felt like he had made a promise…a promise to protect…to protect someone. But the question is…who?

This question itself really frustrated Jack, he wanted to know, but just couldn't figure it out. After releasing another sigh, Jack then lowered his eyes, finding that a couple of children were talking on the sidewalk. Automatically seeing this, brought out Jack's curiosity, so without much effort, Jack got his staff and jumped off the building, silently floating down to the children. Since they obviously aren't aware of his existence, Jack didn't have to hide. He just simply stood behind one of the children, hearing their conversation. And as he did, Jack couldn't help, but find what they were talking about to be interesting; though as he was looking at one of the kids, Jack felt like it was almost déjà vu. Evidently, Jack started to feel drawn to the young brown-headed boy he was seeing.

"I'm telling you Pippa, he's real," the boy said to the girl.

Though the girl; (more than likely the boy's friend), just chuckled at his comment.

"Sure Jamie, what-ever you say," Pippa said smiling; the tone of her voice merely portraying disbelief towards her friend.

But, being the way Jamie is, he made a pouting face, saying otherwise.

"I'm telling you he's real, and I have proof, look at this," Jamie said; while taking out a book from his backpack and handing it to Pippa.

And while Pippa took the book and opened it, Jack couldn't help but move closer to see the book as well. And once when Jack saw what was inside, he instantly formed a smile, clearly amused to what he was seeing. Along with the pages in the book, there was a separate sheet of paper inside. The paper was merely a drawing of some big monster. Jack probably would have tried to guess what the boy tried to draw, but when he saw on the top corner of the paper, it read Bigfoot.

"He draws mythical creatures, and by the looks of it…has an interest in it," Jack said in his mind.

But as he was thinking about it, Jack started to trail off, having the strange feeling emerging inside him again.

"Draws…why does that seem familiar?"

Then all of sudden, Jack heard Pippa giggle, making him snap out of his thoughts. And, as he looked at her, he saw that Pippa took out Jamie's drawing.

"Is this it?" she asked smiling.

"No, not that," Jamie said taking the paper; feeling a bit embarrassed.

He then folded it and placed it in his pocket.

"It's here, on this page," he continued; showing Pippa.

Then, as they both looked at the book, Pippa's eyes lit up; amazed to what she was seeing.

"Oh ok, I see," she said; starting to walk.

And as Pippa was walking, Jamie followed, walking along side her; unknowingly, leaving Jack.

"I told you," Jamie said; his voice fading away from the distance.

"He he, well not to burst your bubble Jamie, but, this is hardly proof, you can't really get a clear picture of this guy," Pippa said; her voice also fading from the distance.

And, as far as Jack knew, the two kept talking, but since he wasn't following them, their conversation was far from his reach. As Jack was left alone once again, he was pretty much occupied with his thoughts. He wondered, was that boy…Jamie…was he the answer? Was he the person Jack was supposed to protect relating to the hazy promise? The more Jack thought, the more questionable he was…after all, it is merely impossible to protect someone if they don't even believe in you.

But, even having this thought in mind, Jack couldn't shake the feeling away. Oddly enough when he saw Jamie, Jack had a sense of déjà vu; like if Jamie reminded Jack of someone that was very close to him.

No matter, in the end, after thinking all this through, Jack now had a new goal in mind. While the protection thing continued to be debatable to Jack, (since obviously he's not one of the Guardians of Childhood), Jack thought that he might as well start some-where to gain believers. And he figured, since Jamie has an interest in mythical creatures, it shouldn't be that hard to get him to believe in Jack Frost.

"Hopefully this child will be my first believer…"

And without another word, Jack let the wind take him away, as he started to fly higher in the sky; unaware that within time….his life will change for the better….

Here is a tale of the trees in a wood
They were never that pleased on the land that they stood.
So they upped and they walked as far as they could
'Til they felt the sun shine on their branches.

I was little boy lost, and I was little boy blue
I am little Jack Frost but I am warm through and through
It's not easy to hide when your heart's on full view
Oh, tonight, cruel world be forgiving
Oh, for once in my life I am living.

A/N: Well here it is, the end of the story.

I hope you enjoyed it, and I would like to thank the people who reviewed, favorited and followed this story. Thank you, I really appreciate it.

On a side note, to those of you who like Rotg/ Frozen crossovers, if you want, you can check out another story that is in progress that I have.

It's called "I'm a Monster"

Now, the reason I'm bringing this up is for you guys to know and also because of the fact that chapter eight of this story was inspired from "I'm a Monster"...so due to this, both stories are some-what connected to one another.

So if you're interested, go and give it a read.

Also, in case you're wondering, the little piece of writing in the end is lyrics to a song.

It's called "Little Jack Frost" by Kate Rusby. If you want to hear the song, you can go on YouTube.

I thought it was a really nice song so I put part of the lyrics here.

Anyway, thank you again for reading my story.
