With Klaus

The rain was silently dropping against the bedroom window, a feint rhythm that usually would have helped Klaus to fall asleep and yet he found himself staring at the ceiling, which outlines he could barely trace in the darkness. It was somehow disconnecting to have this silence penetrating every corner in the flat, knowing that it was there, but simultaneously listening to the sounds of the city from outside. As if there was a poriferous veil separating these two worlds, allowing only the smallest of sounds travelling in-between.

Klaus could feel Clytemenstra sleeping next to him, his breath slow and even and usually it would have helped her to fall asleep, her arms wrapped around the man´s body and feeling the warmth seep through both of their naked boby. Klaus needed this reminder that he wasn't alone, this physical proof that there was someone next to him who loved him as much as he loved the other. Loneliness was Klaus´ greatest fear, which he had to fight every single day of his life. With Clytemenstra by his side, he had long since assumed that he had won this fight, but now his fear was stretching his wretched fingers for him again, slowly weaving tendrils of cold and ice around his heart.

Because even though Clytemenstra was lying right next to him, the realisation hit Klaus that he was alone again.

And in the silence that was not really a silence, but a state in-between, Nicklaus Mikaelson was again fighting his greatest fear.

The grief hit him like a train.

He was afraid of the emptiness when Clytemenstra confessed her love as a a joke, so he just kept holding Clytemenstra´s hand, closed his eyes and allowed himself to be consumed by illusions of better times. He imagined the spark that used to flare up whenever celestia looked at him, the hint of a smile at the corner of her lips, and the way he tilted his head like an owl as if he needed a different angle to appreciate Klaus wholly.

When Klaus opened his eyes again the emptiness was staring at her.

The aroma of her body, feint traces of dust and books, whiskey…

…and a cologne that neither he or Klaus owned.

Unknown to the vampire ,Clytemenstra saw a dream.

"Let her go! brother You have no right to do this!"

"You'll be the death of me Clytemenstra White," Klaus murmured.

"I did swear on the God to kill you," Clytemenstra said.

"I know…" Klaus smirked; he moved closer to Clytemenstra, and then pressed his lips to the woman.

Clytemenstra's White Oak Stake dropped from her hand and fell to the floor, and Klaus frozen before he started to respond to the kiss.

"Kluas get back here!" the woman yelled when Klaus left her, mocking laughter as the vampire was teasing her.

….the FUCK was last night?" Clytemenstra yelled.

"This?" Klaus asked.

"Swear on Elijah that you don't like me and I will stop."

"I swear on Elijah that I don't love-"

Clytemenstra struggled on the word "love"

It was a bedroom with a king sized bed in the middle, there was two forms on the bed.

Clytemenstra lay on Klaus's chest.

"Nikalus..." Clytemenstra muttered.

"My queen" Klaus murmured his voice soft, not hard like usual. They were kissing again, a small fight for dominance; it ended with Clytemenstra on top, hesitantly kissing the vampire under her. Klaus's hands slid down to the lawyer back, hitting a sweet spot that made Clytemenstra shudder.

Klaus wraps his arms around Clytemenstra's shoulders and presses a silver kiss behind her ear. If he whispers "I love you,"

"You promised me..."

Klaus on the bed with Clytemenstra under the vampire, muffled moans heard, just as she woke up.

Clytemenstra shot up, breathing heavily in the faint light of the sunrise. She shut her eyes in an attempt at thinking clearly. What was that?

"lytemenstra?" Klaus asked, sitting up as he spoke. "You had a dream."

Words were heard throughout her brain, but the ones that stayed in Clytemenstra's head were: "I love you ,I love you ,I love you Clytemenstra White. I love you my queen!"

Clytemenstra swallowed nervously. "I… no. No, I didn't. I just thought I heard something. It woke me up," she said, trying to avoid looking at Klaus as she stood up , picking up her clothes.

Out of the corner of his eye she saw Klaus' eyes narrow in suspicion, but ignored him. ''I have some case that I have to look at''

"Is Elijah here, Niklaus?" Clytemnestra asked as she slipped on some trousers.

Kluas frowned. "He's requested neutrality."

Clytemenstra nodded. "All right. Thanks," she said, opening their door. "And Rebekah?"

"Why?" Klaus demanded, his eyes narrowing further.

Clytemenstra just shook her head. "I just gotta ask them something," he said. "Is she here?"

Klaus frowned but nodded. "Yes. You should be able to sense her. Perseus, is there a reason you want to talk to her?"

"I told you," Clytemenstra said, "I've got to ask-"

"The truth," Klaus interrupted, cutting him off as he rose to his feet. "I want the truth. Not the obvious lie you've cocked up. You had a dream," he stated. "I want to know what it is."

Clytemenstra shook his head. "Just something that has me a bit confused," she said carefully. "It's nothing I want to worry you about." She watched uneasily as Klaus' hands fisted slightly before slowly uncurling.

The Origianl Vampire nodded sharply. "Very well," he said, sweeping out of the room past Clytemenstra. "I understand you have no wish to tell me."

As the woman left the room,Kluas stood in the window looking at the lawyer who stood in the opposite pavement. His back stiffened as he caught sight of Lucien Castle. The man was heading across Clytemenstra White.

Keeping his eyes trained on the man, Kluas followed, dodging equipment and squints by sheer instinct. Where was Lucien going…?

His heart crashed into his ribcage and ground to a halt when he caught sight of Clytemensra pulling Lucien toward her for a kiss. Their lips moved achingly slowly against each other's, a lover's kiss.

Klaus paused, a muscle twitching in his jaw as he gripped the railing. Lucien slid his fingers in Clytemenstra's hair, the silken locks falling easily around his questing fingertips. She ran her fingers down his back, lazily tracing the sinewy muscle. They walked past a corner, in shadow..

Klaus wore the face of a man whose world had come crashing around him. The face of a man realizing that the woman he loved, had found her other half. And it wasn't him.

With Elijah

''What is the strongest force on earth?"

"That's easy, love," Clytemenstra states, "Because it is what motivates people to do good things, no matter how powerful they are. Love brings us happiness, joy, kindness, and loyalty. It can also make people sacrifice themselves for the ones they love, such as a mother's love for her child, or a lover has for their beloved, or a king has for his people. And it is better to have the love of the people than their fear."

''Love is accepting people for who they are no matter what," Elijah said, his voice completely amused. "Love is a meeting of two souls, fulling accepting the dark and the light within each other, bound by the courage to grow through struggle into bliss," The origianl said.

He cackled. "Real love is knowing someone's weaknesses and not taking advantage of them. Knowing their flaws and accepting who they are. Do you know Niklaus' flaws, Clytemenstra? ?"

"Elijah," she said to irritate the Origianl Vampire, "what have you done?"

"Happiness can exist only in acceptance,"He hummed, briefly appearing in front of her. "You're not happy, Clytemenstra. You want him. You need him."

"I need no one," Clytemsntra retorted.

Elijah was floating several dozen feet in front of Celestia and staring straight at her when he next spoke. "We accept the love we think we deserve."

Clytemenstra shut her eyes tightly. "You know nothing."

"You're hiding yourself away, woman," Elijah was, sounding disappointed in the lawyer. "Creating a shield to protect yourself from rejection. But let me tell you this - happiness can exist only in acceptance."

"If I wanted to know greeting card messages I'd have told you," Clytemenstra growled.

Elijah laughed. "So naïve. Eradicate Love everywhere. You can save yourself from falling prey to the disease of loving, or you can leave me. It's your choice."

Clytemenstra clenched her fist at her side, the fire flaring up in response to her raging thoughts. "I don't need love."

"But you want it," Elijah mused. "You want it desperately. You remember what it is like with Nilaus. How it felt to have someone that you could trust with everything. How it felt to have someone who would stand by you unconditionally and follow you wherever you wanted. What you haven't realised is that your feelings aren't unrequited, and Niklaus returns them. All he needs is a shove in the right direction to find out."

Clytmenstra faltered. "He…"

"You will need him,Clytemnstra , if you wish to survive. He'll be like the anchor of a drifting ship for you, keeping you grounded as everything is swamped by the shadows and swept away."

Clytemsntar leaned against the walls of the Grill, trying to make sense of everything the personification of love and loyalty had told her.

"How it felt to have someone that you could trust with everything. How it felt to have someone who would stand by you unconditionally and follow you wherever you wanted."

She was so close to chasing after Elijah and killing him – to ridding himself of all of his problems, namely the origian Hydrid. It would be so easy. So easy to stab Nicklaus in the heart – but then she'd be stabbing herself in the heart too

She decided to lighten up the tension. "So how did Nikolai go from serial killer to boyfriend in a matter of years?"

She couldn't pinpoint the expression of Elijah's face. But she knew she had seen it before.

''Before the New Orleans was destroyed and we come back to build a new home here Bonnie and Damon started dating." Elijah began. The look on Clytemenstra's face was priceless. Elijah just laughed.

''When we returned to this town and Kol learned that the woman who had to steal his heart was in the hands of another man ,he began to become enraged. Killing people left and right. No one knew why even we and I threatened that if he did not stop I will would call you. But Bonnie finally confronted him about it and Kol exact words were 'Because I'm in love with you'." Elijah continued.

She raised her eyebrow

"Bonnie didn't want to believe it at first, but he slowly proved it to her." Elijah said smiling. "Eventually you two dated, fell in love, one day he want her became Mrs. Mikaelson ''

''He love you so mucn that he can't loo at you and you love him so much that you can't look away''

''I am not in love with Klaus Mikaelson''She said and Elijah stared at the woman in shock. If he hadn't been looking at her face while she said all this, or had been there when everything happened, he would have truly believed the lawyer was being sincere. But he knew she wasn't, and the thing that shocked him the most was that Clytemenstra's heart never sped up or skipped a beat. She had lied, and his heart had lied alongside her.

''And you can lie to yourself all you want ,but the way you two look at each other. The way your heart beeast faster every time you talk to him it's love''said Elijah and then leaves the woman alone in her thoughts

Clytemenstra lets allows herself to break down in tears.

Because that is what she fears the most, she fears he will love him.

And that's what breaks her.

With Klaus

Clytemenstar White had slept with Lucien.

He couldn't bring himself to call her Mnestra or my love or my queen in his mind. Not in that context. my queen was his name for her; my queen was his alone. No, Lucien hadn't slept with his queen, he had slept with Clytemenstra.

The mild platitudes didn't make it hurt any less.

Kluas had heard the noises once he'd entered the building. He didn't think anything of the moans of ecstasy. He simply figured that they were coming from a different apartment in the building. That is, until he heard Lucien's voice.

"You're such a little slut for me, aren't you?"

A subtle flush covered his face but his brow furrowed as he made his way to Clytemenstra's house.

"Such a good girl though, right? Such a good slut for me, but only me. Only ever me, right my sweet pet? I want an answer to that."

"Yes Master!"

The voice that had moaned the reply had Klaus stopping cold in his tracks. He would...he would recognize that voice anywhere. Had had a multitude of fantasies revolving around that voice. By this point, he was at Clytemenstra's door. He stuck his hand out and tested the knob and found that it was open. He twisted it and stepped inside before quietly shutting it. He crept towards Clytemenstra's bedroom, hoping against hope that what he heard in the hallway was...a mishearing, on the part of his ears? He seriously hoped he was wrong.

He reached Clytemenstra's bedroom.

The door was slightly ajar.

Klaus was unable to resist. He inhaled and held his breath before taking a peek inside. He didn't know whether he was flooded with unbridled lust, or jealousy, or disgust, or perhaps a mix of all three. As he watched his enemy pound mercilessly into the creamy, bound woman beneath him, a woman whom he wanted to do those very things to, Klaus realized that he was feeling all of those things, as well as an immense sadness. Klaus recognized this for what it was: a play, on the part of Lucien. Lucien was showing Klaus who Clytemenstra belonged to. And as much as Kluas wanted to, he couldn't look away.

''Tell me that you love me''said Luicen and something in Klaus broken.

And as Clytemenstra felt Lucien move to thrust in, The weight up her was gone and a feral growling filled the room.

Clytemenstra turned, grabbing at her dress to pull them up and saw Klaus standing over Lucien, wolfed out and red eyes glowing in anger

Klaus is roaring, shoving Lucien into the wall and pushing harder even as the support beams creak and the plaster gives way. His fangs are exposed, his top lip pulled back in furious snarl as crimson bleeds into his vision.

She looked back and forth between Klaus and Lucien. Lucien was getting up off the floor, cowering slightly from where Klaus was standing protectively between Lucien and her. The lawyer quickly righted herself, getting her dress back on.

She looked at Klaus, who was looking cold and indifferent, but she could see emotions swirling, but she couldn't decipher them. They were too confusing to comprehend.

''LEAVE''

Klaus yelled and everyone at Mystic Fall would hear him.

Lucien looked with the terror of the man in front of him and without looking to the side of the lawyer ,he left by window.

Klaus sneered at her. "You betrayed me."

Clytemenstra's jaw dropped. "What the hell!"

Klaus lurched towards her, his hand closing around Clytemenstra's neck and slamming her back against the wall. "You did," he snarled angrily.

Clytemenstra struggled as she was lifted up off the ground, Klaus' power lashing around them in response to the vampire's anger. "I… I can't… can't breathe," she choked out.

Klaus' jaw clenched and he loosened his grip slightly, barely enough for Clytemenstra to get in a precious gulp of air. "Tell me," he ordered, his eyes darkening as he searched Clytemenstra's eyes for what she was hiding.

Clytemenstra felt her body shaking, being forcibly reminded of Klaus. She struggled to think as fear started clouding her thoughts. "I… you promised…" she said weakly. "You… wouldn't hurt me ."

And with vampire speed Elijah and Kol appeared in the room throwing Klaus against the opposite wall. Elijah and Kol had their half-brother pressed firmly against the refrigerator, each holding an arm, effectively restraining him while he struggled against their grasp, his eyes glowing golden and his teeth bared in an ugly, terrifying snarl, the double hybrid fangs protruding sharply from his gums. He attempted to bite Kol, but his younger brother quickly and efficiently avoided his teeth, grabbing Klaus's chin and sharply twisting it, effectively breaking his jaw. The hybrid screamed in pain. Elijah stepped on his foot, rooting his brother to the floor, before placing a palm on his forehead and pressing his head back against the refrigerator door.

Eventually Klaus stopped struggling, realizing that his sheer hybrid strength was no match for the combined strength of his brothers. He panted in frustration, withdrawing his fangs reluctantly, but he still glared at Clytemenstra with wild yellow eyes.

Before Elijah could even react to his younger brother's taunting words, Kol swiftly and unexpectedly plunged his hand into Klaus's midsection. The hybrid screamed at the intrusion, writhing against the refrigerator. Elijah looked as surprised as the rest of them, but did not slacken his grip.

The youngest male Original leaned in close to Klaus's ear. "You lay a hand on her," he hissed threateningly, "and I'll rip your entrails out – slowly – before I pulverize every one of your bodily organs one by one." Driving his threat home, he punctuated his words by twisting his hand in Klaus's abdomen; whatever he had a hold of in there, Clytemenstra did not know – and she did not want to find out. "And after I'm done with you, I'm sure Elijah would be happy to take over in my stead – and God only knows what he would do to you."

''Both of you leave, now''said a voice and the three Originals turned to see Clytemenstar White.

They sat up at the voice that sent chills down their spine, sliding over their ears like silk, the poisonous forked tongue of a snake.

''Clyt-''Kol tries to said but a death glared by the woman shut him up.

Kol and Elijah left the room as she turned to Klaus.

"Honey, if you bothered to wait for me to get back from work, I hope you made dinner at least."

Klaus didn't bother addressing the joke. "We need to talk."

"Uh-oh," She said, her smirk firmly in place . "We reached that stage in the relationship already?"

Klaus saw that even though she kept on joking, Clytemenstra looked at him more carefully then, most likely trying to figure out what was wrong and have a witty reply on standby. For some reason, that pissed off Klaus even more. "I'm not here to joke with you, Clytemenstra," he said, raising his voice slightly. Maybe now Clytemenstra would understand how serious Klaus was.

"Okay, I'll bite," Clytemenstra said as she went to pour a drink of her own. "What's wrong?"

Klaus didn't ask her "how do you know something's wrong" like he would have under different circumstances just because he enjoyed teasing her. Clytemenstra's observational skills were not being questioned. So he said what he had been thinking for a while now. ''I am going to leave Mystic Falls''

Only for Clytemenstra to roll her eyes and say, "This again? You're a amazing king and brother.." Clytemenstra leaned against the counter, taking a sip of her drink, as if this was just like any other time Klaus had panicked like a little girl. She was wrong though. This was different. It had to be for her sanity's sake.

''It's not that I not believe I'm monster''

''It's about because your ex-fuck toy barbie is not here anymore''said Clytemenstra and from the day the blonde brood left the town ,Klaus's mopping around.

Oh ,Clytemenstra ,you're wrong.

''Because I cannot be near to you anymore''Klaus said, looking at him in the end, trying to gauge her reaction.

Clytemnestra's whole world stopped spinning. It was as if everything stilled at Klaus' declaration, however the earth kept moving. The problem was that it was moving away from beneath her feet. She could feel the abyss closing in on him but she wasn't ready to let go. She had fought with all she had, she had jeopardized everything so that Klaus could have all that he deserved, so he wasn't quite ready to let go. The thing is Klaus saw none of that. She masked it all by taking a big gulp of her drink, just big enough to have time to rein it all in and ask as if unaffected, "Why?" as if she didn't feel like someone was squeezing her heart in her chest.

"You shut me down today."

That's all Klaus said, as if no further explanation was needed. Regardless, She could explain. "Nicklaus-"

"Don't, Clytemenstra. It wasn't the first time and it's not going to be the last," Klaus knew at least that much.

Clytemenstra tried to explain, "I did that because-" but Klaus didn't let her. It didn't matter.

"I don't care, Clytemenstra!" he almost yelled, getting up from his seat on the couch no longer able to continue this unless they were on the same level. He pointed at Clytemnestra, reminding him''Or "maybe you can start by explaining why you've been acting like some stupid woman around Lucien Castle!"

The crack of skin on skin sounded throughout the room. The silence was deafening. Klaus stared at Clytemenstra, his mouth still parted from his previous statement, too shocked to close it due to the slap she had just given him. The woman in question seemed as shocked as he was, but the cold fury in her glare overrode any kind of guilt she may have felt. The lawyer backed away, balling her hands into fists at her sides. She looked down at the floor, her face red in mortification

"How dare you." She said coldly.

"Clytemenstra I'm sorry." Klaus said remorsefully, reaching out a hand towards her. "I didn't mean-" She slapped his hand away, turning around and making a beeline for the door, a glitter of tears fluttering amongst her brown hair.

''We made a deal,"Clytemenstra looked Klaus in the eye and tried to keep her voice even for the next part, "and almost every day since I have gone back on it in some way or another and I'm done."

"I did what I had to do to protect you, Clytemenstra." Klaus tried to keep his anger in. Clytemenstra was not done, not if Klaus had anything to say about it. Clytemnestra didn't know the whole story and it wasn't Klaus' story to tell. He just had to trust him like she used to. Klaus had to wonder since when did the past tense apply to that.

"Caroline fucking- barbie- toy -sex- Forbes or ME?!" She didn't think she had any right to be jealous, but he felt it. She hoped Klaus couldn't read it on her face. Despite the facts he had perfected hrt poker face all those years, but this man could still read her like a book when he wanted to.

''What is the problem with Lucien?''She asked, raising her voice for the first time that night.

Klaus shook his head, "It's not my story to tell, Clytemenstra. You just have to trust me on this," his voice was gentle now, soft as he basically begged Clytemenstra to trust him in every way he couldn't say.

"Of course I do," Clytemenstra threw his hands up in exasperation. "Because everything is that easy for Nicklaus goddamn Mikaelson when it's not his fucking life on the line!" Somehow Clytemenstra was shouting again, now in Klaus' face, her finger pointing at his chest. But she could see Klaus break now, she could see every single expression on his face as he finally shouted…

"You are my goddamn life!"

No.

No.

No. Klaus hadn't meant to say that. He was never supposed to say that. He couldn't…

She couldn't know. Klaus couldn't have ruined everything just like that. He couldn't breathe suddenly because he looked at her and he saw… she knew… Clytemenstra knew…

Klaus had told her.

'I love you', Klaus says and it feels so, so good to finally be able to say those words. To be able to smile and not feel a sadness in his stomach telling him this moment will soon be over. To see the blue sky up above and knowing that he could stay out here forever if he wanted to, as there was no cell for him to go back to. He smiles and shakes his head slightly, letting out a soft laugh. 'I love you', he says again, a slight look of surprise on his face at his own actions. God, he feels like a twelve year old schoolgirl. When he finally looks up at the person across from him though, he is met with silence. Silence and a very angry looking Clytemenstra White.

OMG!

Klaus Mikaelson said he loved her.

What do you think will become the next chapter?

How the lawyer will react to this reveal?
